Jiji Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 The lack of the catch, toss, and uppercut on Sami hurts, man. Good video otherwise, particularly that plancha counter on Ryder.
cwoy2j Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Did Rowan go from completely terrible to pretty damn good faster than anyone in history? He was pretty useless when The Wyatts first got called up but I'm loving his monster heel stuff now. 2
mattdangerously Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I can't think of anyone else who improved so much in such a short time. Reigns was pretty useless in FCW. EDIT: Just realized I read "Rowan" as "Roman," and thought we were talking about Reigns. Either way, I think Roman Reigns went from not very good to kind of awesome in less than a year.
Matt D Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Working a lot with Dustin did wonders for Sheamus in 09 too. 1
cwoy2j Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Working a lot with Dustin did wonders for Sheamus in 09 too. True but I don't think Sheamus was all that bad when he first started out. Rowan seemed like he was Batista 03 level bad not too long ago.
cwoy2j Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Rick Rude went from pretty meh in the ring to pretty badass in a fairly short amount of time in my opinion. I don't remember him being much of anything when he was in World Class or NWA and the first few months of his WWF stint. Then in 1988, he got damn good.

He was pretty useless when The Wyatts first got called up but I'm loving his monster heel stuff now. Nah, Rowan was never as bad as people convinced themselves after a handful of Wyatt appearances. He was perfectly fine in NXT and after starting on Raw, people jumped all over him because he didn't cut promos like Wyatt and didn't wrestle like Harper (Which would be like hating on Cesaro because he doesn't wrestle as good as Bryan or deliver intense promos as good as Cena). In short, he was never as bad as people made him out to be. 1
JRGoldman Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Rowan's work sort of reminds me of Kamala a little bit in that the stuff he does is so simple and so character based that it is sometimes hard to tell if he is a good worker or not. I think he has done a great job thus far of playing to his strengths in the ring and he has avoided situations that would expose him. He has pretty good timing and will probably end up being pretty good, especially in tag settings. All that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being repackaged once the Wyatt family stuff has run its course. Harper can basically stay the same, but Rowan seems currently a little expendable without his running buddies.

I don't think he was terrible or anything but he seemed to take a huge leap from "guy who has decent matches sometimes" to "awesome worker" pretty quickly. I can't think of too many standout matches he had pre-Mania 5. From then on, he was money.

He has to play it fairly simple to stay within the confines of his character. If that's what he's doing, I love that he seems to be growing every week and the announcers really should play it up that he's getting better due to Bray's tutelage.
Web Conn Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I say put the belts on the Uso's and give us Uso's - Rowan/Harper at Wrestlemania
Casey Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I honestly think that we'll see a rematch between the Shields & Wyatt Family, some sort of stipulation match. I bet that's when Roman turns, too. Pop would be humongous at WrestleMania for his face turn. Fits better at this point than a short feud with Cena. Add another month of building up the six man war and my god... fuck, I'd feel like I'm cheating WWE for just getting 'Mania for $10.

Sky Blue Sam Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 With the Warrior DVD, will all the featured wrestlers get royalty payments? Just because I love the idea of a job guy like Brian Costello randomly getting a chunk of cash through for his job match 25 years ago
HumanChessgame Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Are the Wyatts still being billed as being from Louisiana? With Mania being in New Orleans, them facing The Shield in some type of "Bayou Bunkhouse Brawl" at Mania after a double DQ at EC makes sense.
Cobra Commander Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 With the Warrior DVD, will all the featured wrestlers get royalty payments? Just because I love the idea of a job guy like Brian Costello randomly getting a chunk of cash through for his job match 25 years ago if that's the case, then several late-70s/early-80s WWWF jobbers featured on Hogan DVDs made out pretty well granted, they probably prefer limiting the amount of random money spent on royalties. This isn't a charity here Are the Wyatts still being billed as being from Louisiana? nope, Snake Bight, Florida (a ghost town in the Everglades)
A Guy Named Tracy Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I'm disappointed the WCW match featuring the Bladerunners reunion did not make the new Ultimate Warrior DVD. It was Sting & Ultimate Warrior vs. Hogan & Bret Hart. The match itself was less than spectacular, but noteworthy from a historical standpoint.
FluffSnackwell Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I think Bret Hart has some shit ones in his book. Like not digging Memphis and Jerry Lawler's style. He might be my favorite wrestler with the worst opinions on what good wrestling is. Speaking of "The Petulance of Persecution" and things in his little book that boggle the mind.... Has any wrestler ever bought a dumber more transparent line of shit hook, line and sinker (from a promoter) than Vince actually talking him into believing Hogan was tapping clean to the sharpshooter to job the title back to him at Summerslam in 1993? To be fair I guess that was much more of an ego thing than necessarily a gullible stupidity thing. Also Bret likely exaggerated how much he ever believed those "long-term booking plans" just so he could whine some more about the kind of conniving manipulative dicks Vince and Hogan were back in the day.
The Man Known as Dan Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I say put the belts on the Uso's and give us Uso's - Rowan/Harper at Wrestlemania I've had the idea for a Oulaws/Usos/Rhodes/Wyatt tag title ladder match in my head for a month solid. 2
Greggulator Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Rowan was pretty good in NXT, started off fine in WWE, and is now very good at what he's there to do. He looks like a lunatic who makes his stuff look really credible. I love his nasty bearhug and when he takes his fists and rams it in people's faces. He's also very good as The Wyatts weak link and takes stuff very well. But, yeah, the dude is working next to Luke Harper who is one of the three best workers in the company and a dude who is the next Undertaker. It's hard to stand out in that pack. However, he has the benefit of wearing a sheep's mask that somehow looks more unsettling the longer he keeps it part of the persona.
Big Fresh Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 There's a good chance we are currently living in the very last 24 hours of the Shield.
Goodear Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I really hope they chose to drag it out if only so Rollins has some motivation to pick one teammate over the other. He has always struck me as the most passionate about the Shield's mission (nebulous as it is) and it would be a shame to have him play no story line part in the break up. I figure you have Reigns finally take aim at Ambrose and accidentally smash Seth in the process and you give the storyline some more legs to a bigger payoff at Mania.
Ryan Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 They can use it to introduce a new member of the Shield to replace Reigns which lets them debut someone from NXT. I'm not sure anyone fits the Shield concept though.
