I almost regret putting whatever the fuck I said in spoilers (it was a couple paragraphs worth of "Settle down, dude!") but yeah that was a helluva way to end my last WWE show I went to. Now if it was Shane that was passing by I think I would get as far back as possible whether he's sweating or not. I don't want to say I never cared for him but the past few years showed to me that he really hasn't matured in terms of character or how wants to present himself. I hope he's good with his other ventures as I think it's time he stops with WWE for good. Glad it happened to a stand up fella in you, @NikoBaltimore. The Man meeting The Man. Fine way to bow out of your last WWE show. Yeah, I'd pass on sweaty Shane O'Mac.

Really, there's only one reason for AEW to sign Shane, and that's to have him cut a scorched earth anti-Vince promo. Which Tony Khan could just as easily have had Mox or Miro or Punk do if he was so inclined, which he wasn't. After that, what do you do with Shane? At least in his younger days he could connect the dots between high spots to get through a match, but now he's complete bollocks. And the punches...man at least back in the day it was clear that they were meant to mock his opponents more than hurt them, but since his comeback he expects them to be sold like Ip Man vs. a Japanese soldier... (BP)
The catch with hiring Shane is that he’d be worthless to AEW beyond an initial appearance until he took care of whatever’s going on with him, and by the time he got his shit together he’d just probably go patch things up with Vince. And really besides maybe one attraction match or a lame on screen authority figure role he’d be worthless anyway.

(BP)
That’s so funny, I was going to put Greg on that list, but then I thought nah, someone will definitely bring up the High Flyers. Edited February 4, 2022 by (BP) 1

John from Cincinnati
AEW should bring Shane in for a shoot twist on the Monster's Ball stipulation: Lock him and Cody in a room for a day with no light, food, or water and see what they come up with. paintedbynumbers
Adopted son of Tony Khan. Shane McKahn. He can film video's of Tony taking him to Jags games to meet his grandpa Shad and Tony can also write up a 3 paragraph happy birthday tweet to Shane each year. A match made in heaven.
LoneWolf&Subs
Michael Nakazawa Vs. Shane McMahon in a one-off comedy match would be amazing. They would need Kimona Wanalaya to buy time for the show time while they clean up the ring after the match.

So between that and Shane directly butting heads with Brock (since he was trying to tell Brock what to do - which apparently is a big no no) - the quote was "Vince had no choice but to fire Shane" i 100% realize what this is trying to say, but it could easily be interpreted the other way: Shane McMahon was brought in to book the Royal Rumble. Brock Lesnar refused to go along with that, so Shane was removed. How dare the talent dictate to the booker what's going to happen? Who's the asshole?

From what's been said, Shane was trying to change the match to make himself the star and being an ass to people who were reluctant to stand up to him because he's the boss' son. I'd be surprised if anyone else wanted to use the Rumble match to set up a WM feud - for the title - between Shane and Lashley. It's hilarious to me how much Vince toadies to Brock and how little he gets out of him. I'm skeptical Brock has really elevated anyone or "moved the needle" much during his second stint with the company. Good work if you can get it, i guess. Definitely a conversation that could warrant its own thread, but, in terms of effort, I thought Brock did everything he could've to make guys like Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor look good in defeat. For Bryan and AJ, they were already top guys so it wasn't really an elevation scenario, but Balor could've/should've come out of that match better. Instead, the WWE just did fuck all with him. I'd argue that the same could be said for Drew McIntyre and Rollins too. Sure, they have clean wins over Brock and, in Drew's case, the pandemic obviously had a negative effect...but when your post-Brock title runs involve feuding with Dolph Ziggler and/or Baron Corbin, there's no way that's not going to be seen as a step down and whatever rub you got from Brock disappears.
JohnnyJ
Shane was part of the company on/off for forever and the worst you heard about him was he threw shit punches and spent too much time with Johnny Polo. You have to love how they'll bury anyone, including their own on the way out the door. Seriously, what a bunch of savages. For all the nonsense that was Shane McMahon, he was kinda sorta a draw in an environment where all of their special attractions (with the exception of Goldberg) have retired.
