MAY WRESTLING DISCUSSION THREAD

Recommended Posts

To put it perspective, HBK's dX pyro reportedly cost $25 k per use. Nash's in that GIF was roughly 2000 times what HBKs was. So in other words, Nash put WCW out of business.

The saddest part is, that wasn't even Nash's pyro.  That was Disco's pyro and they set it off for Nash by accident.

Yeah that basically sums up WCW. Wasting $75k in pyro on the wrong guy.

Do Luger's old trunks actually talk to the wrestler in Luger's voice inside his or her head as it assesses what kind of pyro to give? Please say yes.

I DONT KNOOOOOOWWWW!!!

Yeah I went back 5 pages for this joke. Totally worth it.

Per Mike Johnson

Ross and Marshall Von Erich, the sons of Kevin Von Erich, have been booked to work a tag match at the 6/15 TNA Slammiversary PPV in Dallas, Texas.

Kevin Von Erich will be coming in from Hawaii for the event as well, which means he'll be watching his sons wrestle on Father's Day.

The brothers, who have been working for Pro Wrestling NOAH, will also be appearing at the TNA Fan Interaction on 6/14. I would assume Kevin will be signing as well, but don't have that 100% confirmed.

TNA is booking Von Erichs. In Texas.

Even they cant mess this up right?

Yeah they would've had the Von Erich Biys with Kevin in their corner for months as an undefeated up and coming tag team and build towards them facing the tag team champions for the titles in Dallas.

JAE'S SCOUT REPORT: ROSS & MARSHALL VON ERICH

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iWk7WfkVAg

Marshall is the bare foot and blonde. Has a Joe Doering look. Looks uncomfortable with the chain grapples. Doesn't really make a show out of each moment, and it's probably not something that suits him anyway. When he gets his chance to shine he opts for power game. Lariats and power slams. His flying lariat almost looks great UNTIL the point of contact where it feels like he runs out of steam.

Ross is going for kick pad indy guy trying out for NXT look. Has a little more technical aptitude than Marshall and seemed slightly more snug with his holds. He mostly gets tied up by Ogawa and Taiji for the bulk of the match. His short term selling is quiet grimacing, like he's afraid to get loud. Kind of like a guy in a public restroom who needs to drop a hard deuce that's too big for the door, but doesn't want any of his stall neighbors to know it's fucking war down there. Long term selling is non-existent. His offense needs work. Like his brother his dropkick almost looks good, but there's no snap to it. It starts with a burst of energy but ends kind of limp and lifeless.

There's potential because they're good looking kids, but they've got no voice, no character. From a technical standpoint they looked green, but this was late last year, so maybe they're a little better now. If their last name wasn't Von Erich they'd disappear in the crowd of indy guys pretty easily.

Missing some intangibles, obviously.

WRESTLING GRADE: D+

POTENTIAL GRADE: C

Built up as an upcoming world-beating tag-team with Kevin in their corner. Kevin does a SWERVE and costs them a match with whatever random guys get thrown at them. Either that or TNA has them come out wearing dresses for no particular reason. They would be much better off waiting and going to whatever JJ's new thing turns out to be. Yes, it will be shit, but at least it will be somewhat recognizable as a wrestling program, something that TNA is not.

Which North American territory probably had the most brutal travel schedule of them all? You hear quite a bit about Calgary/Stampede being tough because of the bad weather and lengths between towns. I have also heard that Oklahoma/Mid-South was a really tough drive schedule because of the ground wrestlers had to track from OK to LA across to MS, back up and west to MO and then back.

Are there any others that tended to be worse than those?

I see on the newz sites that WWE is doing final background checks on Kevin Steen and Willie Mack, at which point they will both be signed.  They don't LOOK like WWE stars, but it's pretty smart of WWE to lock up the top indie guys before AAA and Global Force get going.
