  3. While not a fan of the Bucks or Scrull, you have to applaud their work ethic. The Bucks have created their own global brand, and helped globally enhance the Bullet Club brand, so that both make a lot of money outside the WWE machine. And that pic Cody tweeted of Scrull painstakingly putting his Final Battle outfit together by hand, alone, backstage...that type of dedication and attention to detail is priceless on the indies.

  5. On a personal level, I'm glad Bruce wrote the piece, as he's been a great friend to the company. I haven't spoken on the situation, for obvious reasons, but mainly because I refused to trash someone who has been my broadcast partner for years, someone who really gave me a chance to be something, and above all else, my friend. At the same time, the company was in the right, and I've called CWF home for a decade, and will continue doing so. As Bruce stated, I will assume the play by play role going forward, and I hope I can continue the excellent standard Brad and I set.

  8. Why the hell not NJ Rumble: how do you even rate something like this? It's fun as it happens, you'll never rewatch it. Jr tag: **** NEVER Six Man: *** (no way in hell I'm breaking it down into 4 separate matches) Cody/Ibushi ****1/2 IWGP Tag ***3/4 NEVER ****1/4 Jr *** IC **1/2 US **** (the finishing stretch belongs on an all-time classic, but I really didn't like the first half much at all) IWGP ****3/4 (quarter added for the swank pants @sevendaughters)

  15. Okay, good, so I'm not just alone on Out of Touch Asshole Island on this. I mean, look: human sexuality is weird and uncomfortable, and if you engage with it enough, you're bound to have a weird, uncomfortable experience. Probably more than one. And it's unfortunate. But not every weird, uncomfortable thing that happens to you is some kind of crime or worthy of front page news.

  16. You joke, but I was there live to see that bullshit. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. And @Shibata Is My Homie, if you are against people you abhor doing a show, think about the ones you actually like that may be on there. If it's a success that's good for whoever's on there you do like.

  17. It's like saying Aiden English should get paid as much as John Cena. I'd rather watch Aiden English, but he's not the major draw. Shouldn't the story be about how people came together for super cheap to quickly replace a sex offender in their film, and Mark Wahlberg decided that was a good time to get paid?

  18. Jericho is very delusional and it's helped him throughout his career but it makes him look downright foolish at times (see "originating" the springboard -> counter RKO spot).

  20. Bruce Mitchell putting a bow on this awful situation. https://www.pwtorch.com/site/2018/01/10/mitchell-cwf-mid-atlantic-brad-stutts-split/ From the sounds of it CWF should be fine. Might be rocky at first but fine. Especially since the guy booking the best angle in the company (Trevor Lee's title run) was Trevor himself

  24. Does anybody do an avalanche style one? Could be that... Super excited to have the brass knuckles for Regal, always one of my favorite guys to play as. Also can I just say that while I go to Fire Pro Arena for news and updates, those guys can absolutely suck the joy out of anything? Seriously, a dude was comparing his excitement for the New Japan DLC to that of stepping in dog shit. What miserable bastards.

  25. I think that underestimates the cult-like following for Punk. He alone can't do it, but if you got the people announced so far, plus Punk, Jericho, maybe a couple NJPW guys, and set the prices low enough, I think they could do it. Fuck. This is starting to feel more and more like the Blues Brothers on a mission from god. Regarding the Bucks and Scurll, I like them both. I laughed my ass off at Chuckie's tweet about just having to appreciate Scurll for just consistently refusing to catch anyone, but that's a knock against the guy. I know some people hate the finger breaking spot, but that shit works for people in the cheap seats. Scurll's face, body language, and that sound really fucking work. You can knock him for it, but that shit would make money in WWE. People shit all over John Cena for the 5 knuckle shuffle, having very exaggerated movements, and what not, but that stuff is as much for the folks up front as it is for everyone at the back or top of the arena. I see the Bucks in a similar light. These guys can work any kind of match they want to work. They can fuck around one night and the do what they did at the Dome the next. They're not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. Wrestling is full of folks that no one is going to universally like, but you have to at least respect their hustle. It's not like this shit was handed to them on a silver platter. They all bust their asses harder than most.

  26. I'm not the Bucks' biggest fan, but I love what they've done for themselves. They've gone global, swimming in money, bought houses, their merch is flying off the store shelves, and now they're setting the stage for the biggest non-WWE show in the US since the Clinton administration. They are living the dream in every sense of the word, and I couldn't be happier for them.

  29. I'll probably get killed for this, but can somebody explain to me why the Violet Paley stuff merited this degree of reporting? I mean, the story there is two people are in a romantic relationship, the dude wants sex, she really doesn't but goes along with it anyway. I feel like, at one point or another, that has been the story of 100% of sexual relationships ever. I'm not sure why that required reporters to be dispatched to interview corroborating witnesses or merited inclusion alongside the other stories in the first place.

  30. Hearing Dave talk about just how much that spot meant to him and how cathartic it was made me love the Bucks even more. That was probably the coolest moment in wrestling for all of last year.

  31. Oh yeah, I also listened to that Jericho podcast with Omega this morning. That was a really good listen. To piggyback off of the previous comments, while Kenny wanted to be portrayed as this god of wrestling, he wanted to be portrayed as Apocalypse. And then it all fell apart or was forgotten. I loved Kenny and Jericho talking about how Red Shoes was just repeatedly checked out during the match, which is par for the course for him. I know a lot of people love Red Shoes, but I think he's a fucking terrible ref. I've never seen another ref on this big of a stage just constantly zone out or do a poor job of being a ref. I liked that Jericho brought up to Red Shoes that the match was no DQ the first time he had Kenny in the Walls and Kenny grabbed the ropes. "It's no DQ you idiot!" That leads into a story from Kenny about how the chairs in Japan really suck and the chairs they used left screws, SCREWS, all over the ring. Red Shoes just stands there "dead behind the eyes" (as Jericho described him) and Kenny is like, DUDE, look at all these fucking screws. They then talk about how bumping onto a screw would be the worst thing ever and I don't think I disagree. Another part of Jericho and Kenny talking about the decision to have a no DQ match was Jericho talking about how Gedo was on the fence about having the match be no DQ, but Kenny convinced him it would work. They just wanted something to stand out. Jericho then mentions how it almost didn't matter anyway because 4 or 5 of the matches were practically no DQ because the NJPW refs don't fucking do anything to control the match. That's another complaint I've had about NJPW for a long time is that there is no consistency, just absolutely zero, with reffing matches. Look at the Jr. 4-way match. Scurll throws powder in Kusida's eyes, they're the only two fucking dudes in the ring besides the ref, the ref turns around and doesn't even sell that Kusida had powder in his eyes. I think there's a lot that NJPW does better than WWE, but reffing sure as hell ain't it. Anyway, the whole podcast was a really good listen. Yeah, Jericho is delusional, but sometimes there's a method to his madness. By the way, Jericho in talking about spots no one would see coming again referenced the RKO counter spot. The same RKO counter that happened to 2 or 3 other guys before it happened to Jericho. I laughed. Jericho just loves to think that he and Randy came up with that.

  34. Black Widow movie is long overdue. No idea what you'd do with her in a post IW storyline unless you put her up against the Zodiac, the Serpent Squad, or some other updated SHIELD antagonist from the 60's.

  35. Variety is reporting that Jac Schaeffer (The Shower, TiMER, Mr. Stache, Nasty Women) has been brought on board by Marvel to start writing a script for a stand-alone Black Widow movie, with Scarlett Johansson returning as Natasha. The film hasn’t been greenlit by Marvel, though.... yet. I suppose they’ll look at the script once it’s done and go from there.

  36. Kenny was on Jericho's podcast again, discussing the build to their match, and how it went down. Some things I noticed, if you don't want to listen: You get to hear Kenny's Gedo impression. Needs work, I think. There was a video package and extras on stage planned to give context to his outfit, but New Japan just... sorta forgot to do any of it. It would show him in ancient Egypt, then modern day Tokyo, portrayed as something like a literal God of Wrestling. And I mean, maybe they just didn't forget, and didn't have the heart to tell him they hated the idea. Or maybe they were worried about backlash for portraying a white guy being literally worshiped in Africa and then Japan. Anyway! The point was he wanted to appear still arrogant, because he's not supposed to be "full baby" yet. He was originally going to moonsault off the light tower, but didn't after being informed that Ospreay had. He also joked that, Of course the juniors went twenty minutes over, and hit everything! So, he did the table stomp instead, but didn't tell Jericho that's what he was going for, just hoping he'd get the idea and not move or something. There was no solid plan for Omega's Dome opponent, though he suspected they were gonna--to use his word--shotgun him and Ibushi. It would be a good match, but he didn't think they'd have time to tell the story right. He's either bluffing or a bit deluded, but Jericho is pretty adamant he could have kept up with a typical "Kenny Omega Main Event", but they just wanted to do something else. Although, he notes several other matches used enough weapons and such that they nearly could have been no DQ as well. Jericho mentions how much more freedom wrestlers have in New Japan, stylistically, which makes it a different product from WWE. This is a very good thing, in his estimation. Perhaps not surprisingly, they're both very happy with the process and the result.

  41. You know how announcers say a wrestler has no wasted movement? Well, Scurll is ALL wasted movement. As I've said, he manages to combine the worst British wrestling habits (I SAY, LOOK AT ME PERFORMING THIS WRESTLING MOVE, PIP PIP CHEERIO) with not knowing/caring how to work heel when the chips are down.
