Reed Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Earlier today TNA President Dixie Carter held a meeting at company headquarters in Nashville, but until now it was unclear what the meeting was about. Wrestlezone has learned Dixie did in fact meet with SpikeTV representatives last week – most likely on Thursday afternoon – and that she met with her inner circle on Friday to discuss the results of that meeting, in addition to today’s gathering with company officials. While the following rumor remains unconfirmed, multiple sources close to both TNA and the network have informed WZ that SpikeTV does not want to renew its contract with TNA Wrestling, and when the current TNA/Spike deal expires, Impact Wrestling will be cancelled if the show cannot find a new home in a very short amount of time. It is possible the two sides are still trying to come to some sort of agreement, but at this point that’s what we know. Wrestlezone has reached out to SpikeTV for comment, and will update the situation as we learn more. Killam's sticking by the story on his twitter and is saying at least 5 different people in management are telling him they're cancelled. Hilarious if it was lying about to Spike about Russo being back that was the final straw (apparently they weren't happy when they found out). Like, Mike Johnson may have killed TNA. EDIT: http://www.tmz.com/2014/07/27/impact-wrestling-cancelled-spike-tv-tna/
Matt D Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 No, Russo killed TNA just like he killed WCW. Get your narrative straight.
Reed Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Seriously, though, Dixie lying to Spike executives about Russo when she knew they were in the final months of TV negotiations (and Spike were on the fence about a renewal anyway) is dumb, even by her standards. It's like, come on. -the fans don't want him back -the wrestlers don't want him back -The Japanese promotion you work with sometimes doesn't want him back -the TV company that is literally the only thing keeping you afloat doesn't want him back. Why would you risk it? Even if he was a half decent booker, it still wouldn't be worth lying to your wrestlers and business partners over. 3
Phantom Lord Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Russo can't soley be blamed for this. Years of piss poor management and a brand that has ZERO market recgnition is what will have ultimately killed TNA. Russo was a paper cut on a giant bleeder.
nofuture Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 TMZ is reporting this now too. If true, I wonder if some other network can get them on the cheap now because TNA would have no leverage in negotiations. http://www.tmz.com/2014/07/27/impact-wrestling-cancelled-spike-tv-tna/
Cole Miner Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Building a new boat using scrap pieces from the Titanic. Shocked it didn't work. I'm not sure if I would prefer them just dying or getting a new deal. Guess it would depend on if the WWE would bring in some of them. Since the mid card is so redundant at the moment.
Reed Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 TNA's last episode: -Eric Young has it with these fools are drives off to Alaska to start a new life -Magnus fakes his death and becomes a lumberjack -Jeff Jarrett dies in his meth lab -Dixie takes off her mask to reveal...Stephanie McMahon. TNA was a McMahon joke on wrestling fans all along. -Russo sits alone at a diner, makes eye contact with a suspicious man while Don't Stop Believing plays in the background then...CUT TO BLACK. 10
Johnny Sorrow Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Has anyone checked on EN099? "I'm not dead yet!" 4
mco543 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Looks like Jeff Jarrett can add some new names to that database of his. 2
Matt D Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Finally, a WON Obit that I won't feel bad about finding so interesting. 5
Reed Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 From Da Meltz: There were reports that Carter positioned to her staff at a meeting on Friday that they were leaving Spike on their own volition due to a lack of promotion, but others have confirmed Spike had told Carter they were not going to offer a new deal. Dixie still bullshitting until the very end. 2
mco543 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Well she is a wrestling promoter, at least in that sense anyway. 1
Matt D Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Though, on second thought, this does just mean more room for MMA in the WON.

MVP: "Yeah ... but you know, I keep thinking I've seen something like that before." Angle: (pause) "You know, you may be right." fade out 10
leglockwrestling Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Chances of Triple H appearing on the last episode of TNA?
Reed Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Per PWI they were still negotiating as of last week. Then the Russo deal broke and days later Spike had a meeting with Dixie and told them they were done.

Reed Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Vince Russo will never send another email in his life without double checking. Bet on it.

Matt D Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Chances of Triple H appearing on the last episode of TNA? He rates too high. They should send Rosa Mendes and Justin Gabriel to do it. 4
