  1. I like to think of a universe where he's trying out Owen's harness.

  2. Maybe with Wardlow, it's just that people really respond to the Virgil/Alex Riley/Damien Mizdow disrespected henchman storyline, and it doesn't give an accurate reading of a wrestler's default level of overness without some dickhead bullying them or treating them like a lackey. Every time it goes wrong like this, I appreciate Batista a little more.

  3. I'll take the Liger sized Lugers as well, just gotta get the jump on a few of them while they're trying to get their shirts off.

  5. After mistyping Luger a few times as Liger on a cellphone keyboard, I’ve decided that I should have made a Lex Liger wrestler in one of the old WWF video games. Lex Luger in a Liger outfit

  6. You also forgot Sting wrestled Glen Jacobs before he knew what the hell he was doing. I've seen him do that better. That one looks like some freaky kama sutra shit cause his ass hits him dead in his groin and also looks like he powerbombed himself.

  7. Hey, if you made a belt with a template of a Lament Configuration, would solving it summon a John Cenabite? "We have such sights to show you," BABBA-DOO, NEH NEH-NEH, NEEEEEEH!

  8. Even with the haircut, dude could put some product in and slick it back and still look a hundred times better than this "just rolled out of bed" look. I really wonder what the case is, ultimately, like does he just not want to be there? Has management realized that he's not going to deliver what they were hoping from him? I don't know, some people just don't have it though and while I've definitely enjoyed a Wardlow match here and there, dude might just be a dud.

  11. Have people seen how Liger is built? Dude could be the designated special teams guy trying to deliver traumatic brain injuries on blocks with that low center of gravity. A tall version of that wouldn't be fair.

  12. 100% same. Had been an avid fan since I was a kid, renting the old pre-Zuffa UFC tapes from my local video store. Started to tune out a bit after the ESPN-era started bc it just become way too time consuming to keep up with all the shows they were running, but still happily gave them my money for the bigger PPV cards and still paid attention online. But these days between Dana, Rogan, Colby, Strickland, et all it’s turned full on MAGA chud and I have absolutely no interest anymore. I still like fights, but absolutely will not support that company in any way.

  14. Annnnnnd it's not just the whole "a guy with some issues is a guy who is probably going to shoot the place up" stereotype. It's everything else, too. All the toxic horseshit that society puts on you as a man. Now, disclaimer, society puts an equal, if not greater, amount of shit on women, too. But talking about guys right now...a man is supposed to not be vulnerable, to be able to take care of shit, to not complain, to not talk about feeling awful, or lonely, or anything like that. A man is supposed to provide and never complain about being needed all the time. I'm not supposed to be a self-loathing mess who is amazed I got through the day and somehow have a half decent life that I'm not so sure I deserve. I'm really happy men's mental health is gradually something people discuss seriously and without stigma. In general, I just hope we can evolve as a human society to understand that men don't need to be some certain way. And women don't need to be some certain way. We're all humans and we're all different, and expectations and comparisons rob us of joy and make life horrible. Anyway, thanks for writing what you wrote, and thank you to all you lunatics for being bros. I'm right here with you.

  15. The fucked up blowoff to the MJF storyline killed him dead. His ultimate babyface revenge moment turned into MJF being the main character instead, and a crowd feeling sympathetic for MJF taking so many power bombs and getting stretchered out...only for MJF to show up a day later on TV perfectly fine and “shooting” on the company.

  19. Look... it's possible everyone knew everything. It's also entirely possible that no one knew anything. The WSJ has a thorough editorial process and phenomenal writers and investigators on their staff. So what they write down is usually deeply researched, vetted repeatedly, and edited to be concise and precise. I'd advise to take things said on a 4th tier news network by a friend of someone who's been gone for 5 years, with several full shakers of salt.

  20. All that matters tonight is that we get some solid Jarrett/Dark Order interaction. I've never been a fan of BTE driving major storylines but I'm totally fine with it impacting the B story of a throwaway match on Rampage.

  24. I'm not too much of a bandwagon jumper, but the first three that Curt listed are also on my list as well. I've seen the Atlantis/Villano mask match, and I really liked it. BTW, Curt didn't specify which of the two trios matches between those groups, although they're both fucking awesome. I'll also add the Tag TItles and Hair/Mask match from When Worlds Collide, and the CMLL Tag Titles match between Volador Jr./La Sombra and Mephisto/Ephesto from the 2009 Sin Salida show.

  25. Wait...when did "The government is after my daddy..." Stephanie McMahon become untouchable? For me, this is just as credible as anything else just because outside of the texts we've seen in the case of Janel Grant, it's just one side of the story that's either going to be corroborated or not. Everything should have alleged in front of it. This is no different. Fuck, it would be weirder if Stephanie WASN'T named in something because she was pretty high up. She wasn't just strictly on air talent. I have no reason to believe Cara Pipia is lying. Keep in mind, what she said (re: Steph's demeanor) does sound like how Steph was at the time at least based on how the dirtsheets portrayed her in creative. Is this just something that was relayed to a friend cause Steph was considered just this mean person? Who knows? However, I am not going to just say this is some wild accusation she is pulling out of thin air. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, a lot of people are going to not come out unscathed. Whether it's Stephanie or anyone else, it's not going to end well as this rolls along.

  26. My big beef with House Flipper is that every time I see the name I have to remember it's a game about flipping houses, not about the scions of the famous dolphin vying for power with the other noble houses of the sea. You can imagine my constant disappointment.

  27. The inability by a certain subset of the Penn State fan and alumni base to let go of Paterno as their hero is probably fascinating from a psychological perspective, but it's gross from a real world view. Like, I get his family and maybe some of his former players refusing to admit to themselves that Paterno just didn't care what was happening at his facilities by one of his assistants, but dear God everyone else needed to move past "but Joe won a lot we love him" a long fucking time ago.

  29. Even though there's ten of them you could probably run circles around the Liger-Lugers until they get dizzy and fall over (with a resounding "OOOF"). The Luger-Liger would probably dispose of your head with a single shotay.

  33. A lot of things have happened for Wardlow to cool off as much as he has, but I am trying to think of another case where a haircut played this much of a role. It seems all of his aura was in the man bun. My man looks like a hamandegger that heard about this wrestling thing and showed up at the Power Plant.

  34. Definitely here if you need to vent, my man. I've had far too many scares and close calls with my own father in the last few years. He's presently 66 and in a nursing home due to both of his knees being shot as well as picking up the hereditary diabetes that actually led to both of my grandparents passing away. It's to the point that when I don't hear from him after more than a day, I start getting worries in the back of my mind.

  35. Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA* women's career scoring record with a career-high 49 points against Michigan. The record was broken on a transition 3 from about 30 feet. Completely ridiculous shot. Clark is now 99 points shy of passing Pete Maravich for career NCAA points. * - as you may or may not have heard, the actual women's college scoring record is held by Lynette Woodward, who scored 3649 points for Kansas in the years before the NCAA recognized women's basketball.

  36. Ok, about the show itself: Dax-Mox was damn good and they had me thinking another draw, which would have been a big win for Dax. Ended up being a strong win for Mox. Surprised to see the tag coming match this early. So FTR take that one and there's a gimmick blow-off at Revolution? I'm fine with that. Copeland-Garcia ended up being good until it was ruined (like things usually are) by The Patriarchy. Since Garcia was still at least conscious at the end of all of it, he seems like the more likely challenger, please, no 3-ways here. Bucks vs Top Flight was good for what they were trying to do. I appreciate the attempt at slimy heeling and an update of the Bucks' characters, but if you do not wrestle to the utmost level of your physical capabilities (without being stupid, obviously), I will not find your performance entertaining, unless it's done for comedy, and even then, I'm unlikely to appreciate it fully when sober. So, while this was definitely different, it was not on the level of what I expect to be served when the menu says Young Bucks vs Top Flight. Threathening to put their slimy hands and knees on Tony was definitely worthy of heel heat. I'm sure they will find the best possible way of combining their new characters with their previous style and only cherry pick the best stuff later on. Wardlow had a knee brace and both hamstrings taped, he dodged a serious bullet and wasn't going to take any chances. Even the opponent was lighter than usual. Willow vs Skye Blue was good and Stokley actually ended up helping here. Does this mean Willow gets to challenge Julia for the title? Samoa Joe, Swerve and Hangman talked. I dozed off, but did hear the crowd cheering for Swerve like crazy. That trios match looks like there could be more than one blow-up within those teams coming up. The Toni tattoo touch up was not exactly what I thought it was going to be but the end effect was certainly the same. Main event was crazy. This gave Undisputed Kingdom the tiniest shred of credibility, which they so desperately need at this point. This may have been the only time a box of thumbtacks from your friend was a better gift than chocolate, unless you're a diabetic who uses bulletinboards a lot. Drywall (?) is always appreciated, though, regardless of the occasion. Guys, I have a great idea: Bang Bang Scissor Gang should have a 12-man tag on Rampage! Totally my own idea, btw!

  39. I think the big knock on Taven and Bennett is that their presentation is usually pretty dull, not that they're bad in the ring. They remind me of ReDragon, except they aren't quite at the level where they can pull off a "wrestling speaks for itself" gimmick. Still, Taven's definitely the KOR of the team who has a much higher singles ceiling and is generally underrated. I appreciated that the graphics department found a suitably psychotic looking picture of him for this match and he was a great choice for a TV main with OC who always delivers. Both guys and the story were elevated here, really pro work from everyone. Hangman using Dril tweets as promo material got a real lol from me.

  40. I hate to bring it up, because it sounds stupid - it sounds doubly stupid on such a badly male-skewed place as this - but I was just thinking last night how, if there is any double standard in the world that is actually unfair to men instead of women, it's 100% the mental health domain. All the other double standards that exist, women definitely take the L, let's just get that out of the way. But men...well, women may get labeled more frequently as crazy, it's certainly meant more as slander towards them as a gender, but FSM help you if you tell someone you're struggling and you're a dude. "Active shooter" "dangerous" "violent" "lone wolf" etc., and those are probably the nice ones you may hear. Granted, the VKM sewer parade elsewhere does justify quite a bit of the worst of it, but...oof, if there aren't a lot of us bearing the brunt of the pieces of shit who get away with the worst. And there might be a sniggering stereotype of That Old Dude Down the End of the Bar, which we all cringe at and hope isn't us someday, but hey, that guy is probably feeling lonely, or feels broken, or is an addict, or might even be experiencing all of the above. Maybe you don't want to talk to him, or immediately get involved in whatever is dragging him down, but he's not alone. He is all around you. He might be you already. And most of us aren't remotely the dangerous kind of struggling. We're just struggling. We're just broken. Sometimes all you want is someone to acknowledge that it's OK to be broken. I'll put the rest in spoilers, for a variety of reasons. Ahead there be Dragons. Hopefully if you read the above, you can gauge just a teensy bit of difference between now and how I behaved here 20+ years ago. I'm glad this place still exists.
