Tribute to the Troops is a hilarious reminder that 2003 WWE rode a wave of post 9/11 jingoism and pro military PR, and then just about a decade later started holding shows in the country responsible for 9/11. What a ride and what a testament to McMahon's absolute lack of humanity. In case you needed more ammo for that one.8 points

How sick is it that what Vince said to this woman is basically what all the rich famous workers are all asking us to do with all of it. But it's not one bad experience. Now it's two women who were professionally and efficiently raped that we know of (and some others that we kind of know about...and the many many others that deep down we know about but don't "know" yet). I repeat my original question. How many gang rapes does it take before we can be okay with ruining the good work of the WWE? The sane answer was always and remains: 1...1 is enough to tear this company down and for any person who has the slightest human conscience left in them to never have anything to do with it again. The new answer is: As many as it takes to keep the $$$$ flowing, I guess but I'd rather focus on my Wrestlemania moment right now. and that's basically the answer you get too from your boss about how many people have to lose their pensions. How many people have to get laid off this week. How many people have to drown in the Rio Grande or the Mediterranean. How many poors have to die of painkiller ODs. How many nurses have to work triple shifts until how many patients live their last days being warehoused like dogs to be put down. A lot of these situations are far bigger and harder to solve and more difficult to avoid being part of than this one. And few are a simple and clear a line staring us all in the face as this one. And yet we still wait for one human being to emerge from this company and say anything other than "let's not let one bad experience ruin the good work we're doing."7 points

Er, I guess nobody uses the TNA thread anymore... It's always sad to see somebody lose their job, especially after the surprisingly solid relaunch of the brand. That said, a change seemed long overdue. D'Amore consistently put a great team on the field, which he should be applauded for. On the otherhand, his skillset as a booker and especially producer of the weekly show left a lot to be desired. He was also insufferable as a character. There were some shows where every story revolved around his 'Authority Figure' decision making. He's not exactly a great talker to be on every goddamn segment of a show. Having had the opportunity to discuss all things Wrestling in a lengthy conversation with Scott, I know first hand that he's the reason, or at least a champion of, Impact/TNA being so insistent on Magic Camera Dramas and all the other WWE-lite bullshit that has long marred the product. I can also say from that conversation that Scott seemed like a good guy, and very loyal to his team. Unlikely he won't be employed by some company at some point soon.7 points

I'll take "Things That Won't End Well" for 800, Alex. How putrid and disgusting is it for all this to be covered up just cause Vince doesn't want someone to destroy his little appreciation thing for the troops like he's Bob Hope?6 points

But if you really want to see how little chance she has (and how many lawyers are just willing to blatantly steal Elon's money): I'm pretty sure the head of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter felt this was "epic." And I'm still wondering how an 11 year old from 2007 time traveled and got stuck in the body of '20s Elon Musk.5 points

Tonight is stacked! And I got the night off for once (only had to pull a 16 hour Saturday to get it but oh well) so I can watch it all live. In my mind, Sting and Darby go over but I could see them getting screwed by the Bucks. I think it just works better for them to be undefeated going in to the ppv.5 points

That might have been the best Dynamite I've ever seen. Even with Jericho vs Takeshita besides the finish. I'm so glad AEW exists for shows like this. They have their issues but when they kill it, they KILL it.4 points

Absolutely. I gave Impact a chance when the AEW crossover first started. As soon as I saw D'Amore running around with a headset on making storyline decisions on camera, I noped right the fuck out of there. Dave picking up female fans by pretending to be Brian Adias is some Saul Goodman/Kevin Costner shit.4 points

Watch it be a new belt. Ten man tags! FIVE new BELTS. All matches elimination rules, like New Japan in the '80s. I still think it could be Okada but that's pretty left-field I guess, if everyone is talking about Boston for some reason.4 points

Here's my dumb booking solution: With Mogul Embassy barred from ringside Keith Lee interferes to cost Swerve the match. Swerve beats Lee at Revolution to finally put that whole feud to bed, Joe beats Hanger and we finally get Swerve/Joe at whatever the next PPV is.4 points

Dear Coach, please a-Gain utilize the Opening Promo Montage for Collision. I don't think I need to tell you how fun it is. It also adds a lot to the show. Posting it first online a day before the show might even be better. Please.4 points

"We're just such a close family it's hard to process." father of family after a family member is given a paralysis drug and raped at a show "Kid, shut up about it, this is good PR for us. Remember we're all a family." So who is in the family I wonder? I guess Brock is family. But Ashley Massaro was not and neither was Janel Ganet. Nor was Rita Chatterton part of "the family." All those ring boys weren't part of "the family" either. It's kind of like how most companies will tell you this is a "team effort." Who's on the team? Not the workers. Maybe the top executives but no one below that. Not the customers. Not the small owners you sell products to. It turns out "the team" is like five guys and everyone else is blood for the machinery. I wonder how many people who are going to tell us soon how much of a tightly knit family the WWE is were or are really part of the family? How many really think they are part of the family. I guess the family dog is sort of part of the family. But most families wouldn't do to their pet what these families do to their sons and daughters.3 points

@Lawful Metal, a question for you: What are the chances of this becoming a RICO case at some point? Given the civil cases will lead to criminal investigations and then charges, is there a decent chance that all of these will be similar enough that RICO happens? @Greggulator continues to be the voice of reason and bringing everything back to reality on here; the enduring journalistic legacy of this board.3 points

I would love to see more wrestlers condemning Vince and the culture of WWE but we shouldn’t get our hopes up for that to happen. A lot of those guys are having to process things also and for someone like Foley it’s going to be hard to out right bad mouth Vince because Mick probably realizes that with out Vince giving him a real chance and putting him into storylines that involved Vince himself, Foley would probably be taking bookings in Puerto Rico to bleed buckets today to keep the cash flowing in. That’s going to be the same for a lot of wrestlers especially more top guys, when the guy who made the decisions that lead to you leading a normal life is a monster you have to look into the mirror and either acknowledge that you benefited from a monster or try to rationalize or deny it. And also a lot of wrestlers are scum bags who probably want to give Vince a high five. Just remember that you still have morals and don’t look to pro wrestlers for anything other than entertainment3 points

It would definietly be risky, like when WM was at Metlife Stadium. Imagine what that would have looked like with bad weather. If AEW were to ever run Yankee Stadium, I'd be there in a heartbeat.3 points

I would think that he, as much as anyone, is watching this Cody situation closely. I’m also skeptical that the current power structure remains intact @ wwe.3 points

The Boston show was spoiled by a ticket sale announcement. I would like Sting and Darby to win, but not wild about that meaning they put over The Bucks at the PPV and Bucks are champs again. Maybe they can do like Muta/Mutoh and have Sting and Darby beat the Bucks, and then follow with an impromptu singles match where Sting puts over Darby. Should be a night of good matches and, as Technico noted, very few foregone conclusions. As for titles/tournaments, I’m betting next up is women’s tag titles with that being featured on Collision (given that they’ve started running two women’s matches there). They’ve already been selling a Julia Hart-Skye Blue shirt. Also gives Britt something to do.3 points

The first match on the video is Hechicero vs. Euforia, who were partners at the time (2022) in the trio Los Infernales alongside Mephisto. Euforia is Soberano Jr.'s father, by the way. Strongly recommended. Hechicero and El Desperado vs. Templario and Douki from summer 2023. Super fun match.3 points

Something that a buddy pointed out that I hadn't picked up on, another possible layer to this CMLL/BCC feud in AEW. Bryan Danielson is booked for the 2/11 NJPW show against ZSJ. 2/12 is the start of Fantastica Mania, which features all four of the CMLL boys who beat down Moxley last week. I wonder if there will be any sort of interacton between them.3 points

Looks like TK is committing dollars to the womens division. Deonna, Mercedes, Kamille. That’s good. Also, Toni Storm is killing it. Mariah May is gonna be a star. Thunder Rosa is back, Red Velvet is back. Jamie Hayter will be back soon. Ruby Soho is a stalwart. This is a deep, talented division, and best of all, there’s no reason to pretend Britt Baker is special anymore…3 points

I think we also have to understand its VERY hard for most people to be objective and detach themselves from a situation when it's so close to home and related to someone they've known, worked with and/or been friends with for decades, which is how I read Foley's comment.3 points
