Anyway, I remember you told me to rewatch Austin/Bret from Mania a few months back. I did, and then my daughter destroyed two laptops of mine in five minutes, so I completely forgot about it. Just got it back this week, and saw my notes.

I liked it a lot more than I remembered. I was well inclined to rewatch just to shit on it in greater detail, because the 2-3 times I watched it as a teenager just remembering being completely bored by the punch/kick.

I mean, I'll maintain that Survivor Series 96 was the far better match, and we sleep on the great story being told, and the little stories within that story. But I'll acquiesce to the concept that this was the more hateful conclusion that was needed and duly delivered.

It's a great match in it's own right. I've always preferred the WrestleMania 13 match for the brawl looking like a proper fight, Hart of all people using a steel chair, the iconic finish and the double turn. One thing that I think is really cool is that Bret's feuds start scientific and get violent. V Bulldog at IYH with the Blood, V Austin at WM and even V HBK in 97 is a much more wild brawl than in 92 or 96

That's how feuds should be. A first match shouldn't be violent as there isn't any animosity. That builds up over time.

Rob Van Dam did get into the CBD business for a while. But apparently the people he went into business with stabbed him in the back and took all of the money. So he's out of CBD business again now.

So if you bought some RVDCBD and didn't use it, it's potentially more of a collector's item now.

the Movie Gallery/Blockbuster around here were also great for the slight randomness of "which PPVs do they have and not have"... but then you realize that there's other video stores in another part of town that have Survivor Series 1995 when the closest stores didn't have that PPV but had Uncensored 1995.

video stores and cousins is also how I end up seeing stuff like parts of early UFC when I was like 10 and they checked it out of the roped off section of a blockbuster

Streaming loses some of the experience of picking movies to watch purely off of what the box looks like

I never had a video store with a set-up like that. SO much WCW! Most of the places here had the bulk of the WWF big four PPVs but very few WCW videos. I remember taking a road trip with a friend to Vancouver and finding the Spring Stampede VHS (The one with Vader-Boss(man) and Dustin-Buck) and spending way too much for a used video because I not only hadn't seen the show but hadn't even seen the box anywhere before. And it was probably  the best wrestling-related purchase I ever made. 

I probably set a record for the most times renting WM IV from a local video place. Even though none of the matches were good, as a kid nothing excited me more than a wrestling tournament, even one as lackluster as that one. If I'd heard of the G-1, my brain would have exploded.

Our mom and pop video store had a “Special Interest” section tucked away from the rest of the aisles that was aerobics, WWF, a couple of Starrcades, Foxy Boxing, and then the porn curtain. It really put my mom’s mind at ease about me getting into wrestling.

This came up before, but I remember saying here that my local video store had the most events missing chronological unless it was summer 97 - early 1999. That's a sweet spot, but it did suck cause I couldn't find a good portion of the events from earlier years. However, it did help me appreciate some of the shows that I did find from early on in my fandom. So I was very exciting when I got to take home like WrestleWar 90 or like Survivor Series 1991/Tuesday in Texas.

I also found like random Coliseum video releases from the late 1980s. I dunno how I sat through those things back in the day. Now...if I need to go to sleep, I would probably put one of those in. God bless B. Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell, but a twelve minute house show style tag team match with the Killer Bees ain't something that lights my fire.
