nate Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I'm curious about what you found so terrible about it. Well, for one.. it doesn't acknowledge the source material that inspired the look of the character. Lazy writing. But was there anything in the image that even harkens back to the Joker of All-Star Batman and Robin? Looking back on that series, other than "having tattoos," nothing in the comic suggests the douchebaggery on display in Leto's visual portrayal. Where does the pinky ring come from? You said, "For one ..." Okay, your next criticism?
(BP) Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Since it's a story where Joker's mostly in prison, I can totally accept him getting jailhouse tats and wearing a grill. It's totally a Joker move. I'm hoping for the classic suit once he gets sprung, then we wouldn't see most of the tats anyway in the eventual Batman movie. I don't think it should've been the first image. It actually would've been an awesome visual gag to see him thugged out when Waller goes to visit him in the movie.
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 It looks like he does wear the classic suit in the movie. There's been leaked pictures of Leto wearing it on set. Looking at it closer, they could very well be replacement teeth like ya know someone may have knocked them out. I don't have to run down a list of criticisms I have with the article. Guys like Vic just come in here and say "this sucks" every day without ever really explaining their point of view.
TheVileOne Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I'm not really all that emotional about it. Everyone's forgotten, but when we all saw Heath Ledger's Joker for the first time many years ago, a lot of fans online completely trashed it along with Ledger's casting. 1

I mean shit its visual you either like it or you don't. 1
Big Fresh Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 One of those pictures gets me aroused. I'll leave it up to you to decide which one. 1
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 If the Joker has dreads, hoes, clown make up, raps, and drinks root beer then yes, exactly the same.
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 One of those pictures gets me aroused. I'll leave it up to you to decide which one. The one girl's arm fat is something else.
Victator Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 The same? Similar, I'm bailing cause I sense some bull plop a coming.
nate Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Wow. And I thought 130 degree angles were obtuse, *wah, wah*.
The Natural Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 What everyone will be arguing about over the weekend: https://mobile.twitter.com/DavidAyerMovies/status/591761248859123713/photo/1 Said this before in the comic book section and will here. I'm open to character changes/versions providing they're done right. Judging on the look of this Joker, I like it.
Johnny Sorrow Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 And that's not the Joker from the movie. I just read that it was a pic meant to celebrate the anniversary, not what the Joker's gonna look like in the flick.
ChesterCopperpot Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 SS is being filmed in the area around my office the last few days - it's going under the working title of Bravo 14
Matt D Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 And that's not the Joker from the movie. I just read that it was a pic meant to celebrate the anniversary, not what the Joker's gonna look like in the flick. In that regard, I don't mind it as much. My initial thought would be "well, if you're celebrating why go away from iconic?" but I think that it's actually not bad as a symbolic homage of the original image. There are certain elements you just can't replicate and they use the tattoos to express those. The Hahahahahahaha for instance, and the teeth. I think the other tattoos sort of blur the message though. Maybe it was to make it more subtle, but on some level I think that defeats the purpose, or that they could have used other elements (the bleeding eyes for instance), instead of "damaged" or the jester skull thing.
ChesterCopperpot Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) So - Ben Affleck is in Toronto - he won't be appearing in SS, will he?? http://www.etalk.ca/news/ben-affleck-arrives-in-Toronto edit: he's been spotted on the set https://twitter.com/Steele131/status/593133073102819328 Edited April 28, 2015 by ChesterCopperpot
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I have a feeling they are going to get Affleck into every single DC film from this point forward.
Elsalvajeloco Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 So are they basically doing a live action version of Batman: Assault on Arkham but with a few characters swapped out? Rumor is they have an actress to play Killer Frost.
Niners Fan in CT Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Can you imagine if we argued for five pages about the new Joker and he's not really the new Joker?
(BP) Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I think there was always supposed to be a scene of Batman capturing Joker at the beginning of SS, but it was going to be like CCTV footage. Maybe they fleshed it out into a set piece.
Execproducer Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Can you imagine if we argued for five pages about the new Joker and he's not really the new Joker? It's easy if you try.
odessasteps Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Given how much ink has been spilt over walking dead commentator and comic book writer phil brooks, yes.
ChesterCopperpot Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Will Smith on set last night as Deadshot
Technico Support Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I wonder if he requested they make the script more Will Smithy for him. Over/under on the number of "aw hell naws" in this one?
