  1. JBL being pathetic on Twitter makes me grateful that Twitter wasn't around when I was a kid. Macho Man getting on Twitter to drunkenly @ Elizabeth while writing in broken, drunken English about how he loved her, but also he hated her would have really killed his whole mystique and all. 1992 Savage tweeting sadly at Elizabeth combined with 1992 Rick Rude tweeting excerpts from Psalms and chiding other wrestlers for using God's name as a curse on Twitter would have probably killed my love of wrestling in its relative cradle.

  2. This is my 1,000th post on the board (since the relaunch when we all re-registered) so I would like to say that I do know who Pitbull is. Been on this board semi-regularly for, shit, 19 years or so since I was 18 and starting college, I think, and stumbled upon the DVD Reviews. Thanks to all involved for keeping this place going.

  5. Blaming Alexa for being a clear star while managing two guys that seemed like the blandest dudes in developmental at the time isn't really fair. "Which one's Murphy/Blake?" wasn't a popular chant because she was standing there. It isn't like she tried to get over at their expense. They were given a tag title run. Nobody expected Buddy to turn out to be as great as he is now because they were generic. Blake still is - I don't think anyone would be surprised to see his name in the next round of developmental cuts. That isn't Alexa's fault. She's been on the main roster for two years.

  8. As far as state sponsored musicians go, Flo Rida's OK but I much prefer Al Aska and Miss Issippi. South Dak Ota, not so much.

  12. Alexa was clearly the heater for the act. Blake and Murphy were a good team and I will fight those who couldn't figure that out as a modern Heavenly Bodies but they needed Alexa to draw heat and when it was time for her to get hers in the Vauds feud, she showed lots of ass for someone not even in the system in 'Blue Pants' Leva Bates.

  15. I thought Juice for sure would have one just so he could post art of him and other wacky things. I'm pleasantly surprised by that. And while Edwin's right that a lot of indy folks use it for bookings they could still stand to craft their social media in a way that helps their cause. Whether it's limiting what they say or just having one that's in character the whole time there's ways to use it to their advantage. While double checking on Juice's social media I found an article that is very awesome and it's something that JBL should take notice of:

  21. Surprise of this tournament to me is how much I enjoyed Suzuki Gun matches with each other. Also I liked DBS vs Zack segments and I remember liking his match against Yano in NJ Cup. Where I'm getting is... I wouldn't mind if he was in G1 next year. Sure, he is not top tier wrestler, but he is better than Tama, Fale and Page. Yoshi is better, but he is so dead as far as momentum goes that probably replacing him with DBS wouldn't be bad deal either. Basically I'd like if next year we had Suzuki, Zack, Taichi and DBS in G1 from Suzuki Gun. Best Friends got along well, but they did some subtle storytelling. You could see Trent looking worried multiple times and Chuck went from his happy mode to "I'm dead inside" whenever he knew that Trent wasn't looking at him. I have no idea where this is going, but it is working for me. Few days I looked at this card and Best Friends vs Dads was match that I was going to skip, but I ended up watching it fully solely due to this angle. Oh and I think that dads (and obviously Young Lions) are mathematically eliminated by now. Elgin/Cobb vs ishii/Yano had a bit surprising finish to me. Felt kinda like a revenge for their NJ Cup match? I'm not 100% sure but it looks they have Elgin and Cobb eat equal amount of pins this year. Thou I haven't noticed, but saw some people writing that Elgin tweaked his knee, maybe that changed match a bit? No idea. Jado poking Tama with a stick in order to get him out of Paradise Lock was top stuff and I think GoD did a new team finisher? Anyway, LiJ/GoD/IshiiYano at the top of the block with 6-2 record. You know what would be cool? Another triple threat for the finals. And I think it is kinda cool that NJPW are doing their dream match up two nights in a row and it is Ishimori who is picking up the wins. I'm 100% certain that he is beating Kushida at the Dome.

  23. Good episode with solid story progression up and down the card. Pentagon/Fenix v. Swann/Mack was an awesome opener with the beginning sequences, crazy spots & double teams. Katarina looked great again, loved that diving DDT nailed perfectly. Taya was impressive & Ray Lyn looked pretty good again despite another short showing, loving the Tessa/Taya feud. Fun plunder brawl main event with Eli and Tommy, Dreamer always rules. Enjoyed all the little backstage bits that furthered stories/feuds for others not in matches tonight.

  24. Nicholas sucks. He's in the business because of his father. The kid can't work, can't talk, his look sucks. He's another David Sammartino in the making. Izzy deserves that spot. She's been busting her ass on the indies, improving her game while Nicholas just waltzes into a WWE gig and title match at WM.

  25. The deal appears to be done. Seattle trades Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz to the New York (NL) for Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, and "at least 2 top prospects" per Passan. Mamma mia. If Seattle doesn't eat at least 80% of Cano's contract, Bernie Madoff will only be the 2nd biggest robber of the Wilpon's money.

  26. Binging up on NXTUK. Like a lot, I watched the first two and then the two a week schedule completely swamped me. Got up to episode 6 last night. I was pretty unfamiliar with the Coffeys but I think I like them as heels. Good look and I enjoyed the promo the one cut when they formed the Gallus stable. El Ligero also impressed as I never cared for a lot of his stuff I saw in other UK groups. Dunne vs Burch was pretty good but I thought they had a second gear they never went into. I was hoping for a Regal vs Fit style fight and it never quite got there. One slight knock so far is that what distinguished a lot of the UK scene to me was how fun it seemed to be there. Like PROGRESS, OTT, to an extent Rev Pro seemed like you were watching wrestling from a rowdy, drunk, lewd club. NXTUK seems a little too slick, too clean and the crowd feels like they're doing an imitation of what UK crowds are supposed to do and the wrestlers seems like slightly muted versions of themselves from their home companies. Like, I get your mileage may vary on the BSS vaudeville matches but Bate and Seven are a blast doing that and I'm not sure them as valiant smiling babyfaces works the same.

  29. There's no way the NFL didn't see the video beforehand. Their people are former Feds. They saw the video and they didn't think it was a big deal back in February. Now that the video has come to light and Twitter reaction is not to their liking, they are switching up.

  35. First of all, I agree. I've seen it before but had to go ahead and watch it again. Good old fashioned Texas mayhem. Thoughts: - The Birds had to be the first cool heels. (And go figure, Texas was the first place to get cool heels over) Speaking of which, where were Buddy and Hayes during this match? - Kerry would be my last option of ref for any match due to general inepsy but he didn't step on anything here - Good lord that was a whole boatload of blood. Khan seemed to magically whack the back of his head, and at the same time his heart.

  36. Usually when someone gets over like that, they try to give them an entourage. And let's face it, the name 'Lynch Mob' is exactly the sort of thing they'd think was a good idea.

  37. Two top Smackdown Live matches in Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles for the WWE Championship (even if it goes to a DQ/Countout so there's a rematch at the Royal Rumble, it's still Bryan vs. Styles) and Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka for the Man's WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship in a TLC match. Fuck RAW.

  42. Just watched Mandy. I'm not really sure what to say. It's pretty well indefensible, in a good way. The funny parts were really, really funny, and I appreciate the sentiment behind it even if it just is what it is. As close as Panos' interests are and psyche is to mine, this is still a film I would have never in a million years have written, so congrats? "THAT WAS MAH FAVORITE SHIRT!!!"

  44. Gary Hart talked about Ric Flair kicking the asses of all three Freebirds and then buying them a beer afterwards. Apparently they were fucking with Flair in a bar and he invited them outside. Decked all three of them and then when the Birds staggered back into the bar, he bought them a round.
