surely there's enough "meta" in wrestling that it's worth me awaiting the debut of The Express Connection (or as they'd be known in the WWE, The Connection Express)

To me, the worst name might have been Rock n Roll Rockets (Al Oerez and Joe Savoldi).

Ricky Morton and Marty Jannetty teamed up as the Rock 'n' Rockers.

Midnight Connection sounds like some drug running circuit to me....

LOL I was just about to write, "Midnight Connection" and "Caribbean Connection" are a little too close to "The Tampa Pipeline" for my tastes.

A promotion really missed out on a good in-joke by not naming a team "The Tampa Connection" and changing whoever's names to Terry and Ed.

There is the infamous late '80s vanity action flick, "Miami Connection," which has an opening establishing scene and a finale in Miami, but the middle three-quarters actually take place in Orlando. That's like the movie version of Mr. Atlanta hailing from Parts Unknown.

Missing in Action and Death Wish were awesome

I've watched Missing In Action SO many times as a kid! Same with Delta Force. Death Wish is something that has eluded me, but I think I've seen part 4 and maybe half of Death Wish 3. They actually made a game for Commodore 64 called Death Wish 3 (no 1 or 2, I think?)

Death Wish 3 is one of the greatest action films of the '80s for its total ridiculousness.

Is that one with Marina Sirtis and Marina Sirtis Best Supporting Breasts?

Was there ever an American Express?

Yeah, Dan Spivey and Mike Rotundo wrestled as American Express for a couple of years in the 80s.

Weren't they the US Express?

Almost: that was Windham/Rotunda.  When they swapped Spivey in they became the American Express.

Wow, I need to check the Wrestling Challenges featuring Spivey/Rotundo, since I totally figured they were still going by US Express at that point.

As a side note, it wasn't the team's official name or anything, but when Nikolai Volkoff and Jim Duggan teamed up in 1990, before their SummerSlam match against Orient Express, Volkoff referred to his team as the American Express ("And don't leave your home without it! Hooooo!"), but that was more of a promo punchline, rather than anything official.

Not an Express but I seem to remember Earthquake and Dino Bravo referring to themselves as (or Jimmy Hart calling them) the "Masters of Disaster" around the same time.
