I read your comment before I read the quote box, so I initially thought you were saying you related to Superman in terms of people not suspecting your secret identity. 7

hammerva Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Real treat from WWE Vault today it is supposedly Dusty Rhodes last match as it is the Rhodes Family vs the Dude Busters and Curt Hawkins in I believe a FCW house show The match itself was fine but the treat was that whoever taped this didn't know how to turn off the cam recorder displays as they are everywhere 3
stuntmanc Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 So this is a bit of a random question, but with all of the comparisons with the "Stop The Moxley" thing going in AEW, does anyone have the link to the writeup of the Stop the Matsunaga angle in Zero-1? The only link i have seems to be broken and im wondering if it was posted anywhere else or if someone has it saved. I have a friend of mine asking about it and i know any description will not do it the same justice the write up would

Going back to 2013ish. Newest is from last year. Small favor if anyone can. Channel is at 543 subs. Trying to hit 550 before end of the year. Never monetized the channel. Pretty much film and upload so there is an archive of the area. Saw how 14 years ago there was either no one filming. Or the fed filmed and never released footage. So asked and got permission to film and upload. Now right at 15 years later been to 4 states,MS/AL/LA/TX,like 50+ towns and 50+ feds. This month is the first one in a long time that I haven't spent most Saturdays in a car traveling 3 to 4 hours to a show. Then heading back home after it. So ya if you aint subbed to DIY Mississippi filmworks please do. And yea the name is a mouthful. IT's a tribute to a buddy that died right before I started filming. Had had DIY M F !!! across his knuckles. So I wanted to use that in a way that most wouldn't catch it. Now you only need one more. 1

For close to 6 years he was the number 1 or 2 face in my local indie. So would see him a few times a year. Now he just wrestles when he wants too.
Happ Hazzard Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Was there ever a Beastmaster gimmick in wrestling? You'd think it'd be an obvious choice for WCW to put on TBS in the 80s or early 90s.
J.H. Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 They probably could've gotten Marc Singer to do it. I mean Beast Master 2 was out in 91 so cross promotion was there! James 1

Cobra Commander Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 "He'll carve a smile on you" feels like a Bray Wyatt concept that would get scrapped after a few weeks after running into questions about how to do it 1

J.H. Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 Oh make no mistake,Luke and Butch made more money for working sometimes easier matches (the matches against Tully and Arn are surprisingly good and those were like a month before the latter won the straps). Of Vince could turn Abby into a beloved comedy act, Abby would still be beloved and cashing royalty checks. Hell, Vince would've taught Abby to read and that could've been a real game changer! My memory is that the Bushwackers made a ton of money in their WWF years by being the guys who did a ton of meet and greets at Toys R Us and shopping malls, but that was something I was told here and would have happened before I was a fan, so it could easily be wrong 2
Elsalvajeloco Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 They were also in WWF long past their expiration date. You will watch a random Challenge episode from 1994 when the WWF is starting to lose syndication and the goddamn Bushwhackers pop up. It seems like they were kept around to do benefit events along with DiBiase, who despite being a heel was sort of the last vestige of a bygone era. 5

Shoot, the Bushwhackers were on that episode of Family Matters in 1994. They always struck me sort of like Hacksaw Jim Duggan in '99 - '01 WCW in that they were absolutely out of place, but they had a weird sort of popularity via recognizance for lapsed or spot fans that made them valuable. It was almost like they were nostalgia acts even though they'd never really left for long enough to then come back and be a viable nostalgia act. Even Hulk Hogan had to disappear from television for a couple of years to make his nostalgia act work on his 2002 return to the WWF, but the Bushwhackers just sort of transitioned into a nostalgia act while still on television. 5

Seeing them in 1996 is even weirder (though I think they only wrestled the Bodydonnas almost exclusively), especially when they started doing the hongi. 1
J.H. Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 I think working for WWF is what allowed them to keep going. Not doing blood soaked brawls and becoming a comedy act, probably extended them past their expiration date. I mean, kids loved Luke & Butch James 3
Johnny Sorrow Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I'd bet the farm the old pervert could have gotten Abby over as a face. WCW tried, but, ya know, WCW at that time. If that leaf loving rapist had seen that pic of Abby in the Saturday Night Fever suit? We'd have had Disco Abby after an initial run with Hogan. 3
