Steventon
Ideal scenario is OC survives a war with Moxley and then loses to a heel who will benefit from the run next week. Jay White would be ideal, otherwise they are struggling for heels at the top end of the card (evidenced by them doing ANOTHER tourney to decide the next world title contender)
caley
I think you guys are crazy. Keep the title on Orange, his matches almost always overdeliver. Once you officially turn Garcia face, he can win it but it shouldn't be for several more months at least. Crowd is into the International title defences, Orange is getting way over, suddenly taking the title off him now just strikes me as change for the same of change. I say lean into the Orange's getting more beat up story: have him come to ring with crutches, his arm in a sling (only to cast it off dramatically mid-match to put his hands on his pockets!), Or in a wheelchair, wearing an eyepatch. Heck have the Best Friends wheel him.to the ring in an iron lung. I think this Cassidy reign still had legs. I've got a Twitter account that is all sports, no pro wrestling (wrestling Twitter is pretty dreadful for the most part), but there's lots of wrestling that crosses over into my feed with a lot of journalists being fans as well, and there are two guys that dominate the mainstream conversation and it's Roman Reigns and it's Orange Cassidy. Now I can see where one would think you could just have him do the same thing as world champ to draw more attention to it but you're not going to have all the top guys agree to put him over in the same way so you either lose the angle or else end up with a world champ defending his belt against guys like the Blade. It just won't work at that level
Just Dave
Pass. OC’s been great. Put it on Mox.
Zakk_Sabbath
YMMV on whether running two PPVs a week apart is a good idea, or what the AO card looks like overall, but a win on PPV over Mox would be a massive win for OC - but the issue is that almost don't know where you go from there with him after a win. Mox is 'final boss' level talent - you cant have OC sneak out a win on Mox and then get pinned by just anybody. It's almost a must win for Mox but I do agree that OC should have held it for a full year - this has been an all time title reign
username
I think this issue is that if you run the angle they have with OC, that is with him getting more and more beat up by constant defenses, you kinda hard bake in an end date that will only make everything that took place beforehand worse in retrospect if you go too far past. If say we start '24 and Orange is still champ then all those early injuries will just seem like nothing, it doesn't even really exist as a functional narrative at that point. It's probably already gone on a bit too long and has been saved by how good OC has been... but it's time. I think he can still get by Mox if need be, but September should be where he falls.

They really should have pulled the trigger and had Penta win the championship. I really like OC but I think his title run has run its course. Winning matches by getting killed and sneaking out a win is fine, but when it happens week after week the same way it becomes too much. There is no way he should be kicking out of what Penta was throwing at him, and at some point it crosses over from funny/entertaining to head shaking. Anyway, the show was *fine* but didn't feel like the knockout they needed as they have another PPV to push in a few days. I didn’t watch for various reasons but someone kicking out of Penta’s big moves works fine for me considering what usually happens in a Lucha Brothers match. Fenix kicked out of a super Death Rider just last week. I’m ready for OC to lose it too, if only so he can take a couple of weeks off, but not to Penta. Mox doesn’t need the belt but he would continue the “take on all comers” tradition with great weekly matches. This is a great opportunity to elevate someone. You make a really good point - if I were someone unfamiliar with NJPW (which I empathize with slightly, since I'm already a casual viewer at best myself) I'd probably be under the impression that he's a tag team specialist.
Firebreaker Chip
When Roderick Strong's back wrestling he needs to just come out to a recording of him screaming ADAAAAAAM in a maddening loop imo It's been corny as hell the whole time and if he leans into it just that little bit longer it's going to cross over into awesome 2
zendragon
Liked all the wrestling, didn't care for the blabbing (Shoe throwing Toni Storm aside) Probably Penta's best match in AEW? Just wish it had been in Socal. Penta is so over here the building would have been electric on the false finishes. Still need to run a Penta singles main event here sometime. Interesting that MOX won with the cross arm breaker and Penta targeted OC's arm Always good to see EMI, but All Whatever had a two hour pre-show with only 2 matches. Couldn't they have run a women's trio's there (and maybe something for Kip who's been a day one solider)
Shartnado
The best thing this week has unquestionably been Toni Storm's comment of "It's safe to say that Wembley went tits up!" That was terrific!

Peck
Renee deserves a bonus for being able to hold it together during the Garcia/Parker/Daddy Magic interview. She was SO close to completely losing it and corpsing. 2
Curt McGirt
You gotta give it to 'em, they know how to wrap up those battle royales. Vikingo needs a new theme; its ponderous nature kinda takes you into Callis Land. The Ringpost -> Mid-Top Rope -> Opposite-Side-of-Ring Dropkick was a little cooler looking and didn't feel like it took as long to set up as the Avalanche Poison Rana. Personally, I'd rather just have Gringo Loco basing for all the elaborate crap Vikingo can come up with like in the start of the match only all the way through the match. Screw the spots, just gimme elaborate BS. Bryan Keith got a PnP comment. Does that satisfy anyone? Can't stand it when people have two first names. Only things that stunk where sigh this QTV stuff that will. not. die. And Adam Cole's Manservant Roddy Beefcake getting a sitdown interview. I swear if this leads to Cole winning the title and defending it against Mr. neckbrace.... JOHNNY HUNGGIE THE LITTLEST HOSS!!! IS THE LITTLE HOSS THAT COULD!!! Matt D
Credit where credit is due: I thought that was a very solid Page performance. He led with chops and the boot and a clothesline. He let things breathe instead of going to the next spot. He played to the crowd. Now, he had the luxury of working a short match instead of a longer match (and part of the story was that his playing to the crowd backfired), so maybe that had something to do with it. But if he could figure out how to transition that into a longer match, I'd have a lot more time for him.

hammerva
give Tony credit for actually going out there and explaining himself. even if it was basically him saying that he fired him because he was afraid that Punk was going to kick his ass. if that video comes out, there better be that "lunge" we keep hearing about

(BP)
The opening segment was cursed with tech issues, Starks going into business for himself and trying to turn baby, Steamboat not being able to talk, and Danielson not wanting to talk. At least the bandaid is off. Solid show, but fire that commentary booth into outer space and get a real team.
