  1. Guys it's OK to not like who Jericho donates to politically and still think it's cool that he donates his money to help out other performers who have fallen on hard times and/or had an emergency for which they needed help.

  2. Rich people engage in philanthropy because the alternative is giving everyone free health care and (gasp) paying more taxes - so they'd rather throw menial amounts of money away and take credit for it Any country that has its citizens begging for money on GoFundMe to cover medical bills and other basic expenses is irreparably broken

  3. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Muta is in this year's Rumble. Perfect surprise kind of appearance. Triple H already did the 'get one in before it's too late' thing with Liger in NXT. Muta retires at the end of February. If they want a Great Muta WWE appearance it's the literal last chance. And I think this news makes it even more likely. Nak goes over in NOAH. Muta shows up and eliminates him from The Rumble to a big pop.

  4. Late to the party - the show was for sure one of those "trying to retrain the audience into attending Superstars tapings" shows, but the real thing from the night was that we met ~7-8 members of this roster by total happenstance (no weird shit, we were just in the same hotel connected to the arena/casino, and there are only so many hallways) and they were the kindest, most gracious people I have ever met in wrestling besides probably Big Bossman. Very, very classy across the board - if the cards are played right on the business side by TK and co, I swear to you, I have never, ever, ever been more confident in things on the talent side, ever.

  7. The way it went down was, Triple H was posing in the mirror, thinking back to his glory days as the ace of WWE. Specifically that two-week period-uh, where he changed his promo voice-uh, to where he made an uh sound-uh, on the last consonant of the phrase he was speaking-uh. Then Shinsuke Nakamura waled in and said "Boss, can I wrestle The Great Muta in New Japan?" And Triple H said "No-uh".

  9. I hope it is Davey, because 1) he’ll hopefully be as Davey Richards as Davey Richards can be and 2) having him and Regal in the same promotion brings me one step closer to seeing a real life version of an EWR angle I booked where Regal managed the American Wolves in NXT, they turned their back on the US and became the New Blue Bloods, Lord David Richards and Earl Edward Edwards.

  10. whoa, saw the announcement for the match this morning, but sleepy eyes read it as Konosuke Takeshita. Now that i can see the graphic, this is a way bigger deal. props to everyone who set this up to happen!

  12. I just got done ring announcing at the BOOM Pro Wrestling show in Vancouver tonight. It was a super fun show and I had a blast. Also, some of the cast of Riverdale was there; KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse, and the guy who plays Kevin . Right before the show as we were getting ready to start I looked over to my right and was like, "Holy shit, it's Sexy Archie!"

  13. Vince would probably let it slide. He was quite fond of Sami and rarely told him no when it came to his character. Roman lucks out with this stuff because Sami sort of is his court jester. Makes it much easier for him to break.

  15. Weird to see Ramon in powder blue. I guess purple was the default, but other than that he tended to rock red, black, and green... Not with a key, sissy...

  17. Is it though? Sheet writers spend their column space and the narrative on social media becomes around Jericho's donation to another wrestler, rather than the 10 x he spent on the Trump campaign, or his wife's involvement on January 6th. One actively attempts to make the other go away. I'm not sure how you can make the argument that the two exist completely separate of one another.

  20. It's Davey Richards, and you can't convince me otherwise. Although a lot of people are trying to make Colt Cabana being the mystery opponent a thing, only because "lol fuck CM Punk". Meh. I'm here for the Dynamite card just to see the sit-down interview with Saraya and Britt Baker, led by Renee. Gimme confirmation of the Full Gear match, you fuckers.

  21. This is an important lesson in why you don't mortgage your teams future for tinfoil hat Stephon Marbury that absolutely none of the owners will take to heart. E: Jesus christ, I hadn't seen his press conference from last night when I posted this. That man's career is cooked.

  28. "Perfectly fine" seems to be underselling being an integral part in some of the most effective offences in NFL history at the time. Surrounded by great receivers and coordinators Warner was obscenely productive. He also lead NFL Europe in passing TDs and yardage while he was there which really means he should get 2 busts in Canton. But yes, he did also have some really down years.

  31. To borrow from @JLowe's argument It can be argued that Jericho not only fully indulging in the YOU'VE STILL GOT IT chants but his own contributions in encouraging them could also inspire other people to contribute them to every single guy working a match on the other side of 40 who doesn't really deserve it.

  32. Yeah, he donated money to the orange fuhrer. He also doesn't cause any problems backstage as far as I know and if I'm running a company that's what I want. I can't recall hearing anything negative about Jericho's attitude in the locker room while he's been with AEW. A person's politics don't necessarily make them a bad person to have around. And again I say that disagreeing vehemently with Jericho's support of the Orangutan.

  35. It can be argued that Jericho not only sharing the fundraiser but also his own contributions could inspire other people to contribute. I’m still of the school of keeping your charity personal, but I know that in the modern online world sharing a link and leaving a note can be a big difference maker.

  36. I disagree vehemently with Jericho's politics. I pretty much agree 100% with Punk's. But if I'm starting a wrestling company I'm picking Jericho over Punk every single time.

  37. Juice's best strengths are his babyface, fiery promos from the heart and his selling. He is terribly miscast as Disciple 2.0 and needs to be a babyface from the little I've seen of his heel work. He's not going to hit home runs all the time but he's definitely capable of the odd classic match and a lot of really solid ones. Good pickup. Now do Dragon Lee.

  39. Finished up the first week at the new job today. What a difference a week makes since leaving my last job of eight years. Still doing the same thing(Food Service delivery, except now delivering meat instead of produce), but driving a semi(after a twenty year break) instead of a straight truck. I rode with four different drivers during the week. My first day driving was Wednesday and that day was spent on the east side of Indiana. It all came back pretty quickly. Even though I worked pretty close to 60 hours this week I am not feeling tired, I'm not feeling rushed, my hair trigger temper has subsided. This has been the best week I've had in quite a while.

  40. That would make a lot of sense. I think about it like this: There's folks like you and I, like a lot of folks on here and other people we know... Let's call us "passionate fans of pro wrestling in general and AEW in particular" The ones we know and like, the ones we haven met yet... quite a few of us, all around the world. Over the last year-plus (or however long) since the show went back out on the road, if AEW came to town - or anywhere within driving distance - all those passionate fans were online, day one, scrambling to get tickets. For themselves and for friends and family. And judging by the road reports I have heard and read, even for a lot of the passionate fans four plus hours of pro wrestling is an awful lot of a good thing and following that up with a long drive home with some heavy traffic at the start of the journey... I could easily see those same passionate fans making the trip without (as many) friends and family along for the ride this year. You know, maybe the kids don't need to come this time, maybe my buddy from work has other plans... Also: I kind of think they are swerving away from catering so directly to their passionate hardcore indie/Japan/weird wrestling fanbase. We still get Danielson vs Garcia or, like, Kingston vs Takeshita type stuff aimed right at our bullseyes... We still get deeply awesome very niche appeal stuff like Cutler vs Pretty Peter and Abadon vs Freya and on and on. But the sense I kind of get is that AEW was more like Shake Shack or In-N-Out or something, a plucky independent company with a hardcore passionate big-niche crowd who were really into the good stuff but now they are perhaps striving to be more like Burger King, a challenger brand with designs on a much broader appeal. Tony Khan has said as much, in interviews. Which is fine. I do not begrudge them their success. It's still appointment viewing for me. They still reliably hit my personal bullseye week in and week out. They are leaning a little harder on the viral stuff and catchphrases, maybe pushing some of the ex-WWE and WWE-wannabe personalities a little harder than some of the the ex-indie and weirder ones. Whatever. I still get tons of what I want to see I'm still a fan. A big fan. I wore my AEW hoodie today. With pride. I was stoked the weather was cool enough for me to put it on again today for the first time since maybe May. Not sure if I'm quite so passionate any more. Which is fine. Being frothing-at-the-mouth passionate for three years for any kind of pop culture is pretty impressive. And I'm still well into this current Burger King-ish AEW. (A&W AEW)? FTR are fighting for New Japan in Osaka next week. I might go. I might not. That kind of surprises me. If AEW came over here, but only to Tokyo... I might not go. If you had asked me last year, there would have been zero doubt. I 100 percent would have made the long and costly trip to Tokyo. I'd have bought my NJPW tickets the day FTR in Osaka was announced. AEW still rules. AEW is still my favourite non-local-indie pro wrestling company. I still very much want to see a live AEW show some day. But, it's maybe no longer quite a "bucket list" item. So: I could see non-passionate fans maybe not wanting to watch that much wrestling being a big factor in the ticket sales downturn. I could also see even passionate fans being less eager to make a long trip and book a hotel or fight traffic late at night...
