  1. It's actually closer to 20 divorces. There were some shotgun weddings and annulments in New Zealand and Tokyo, plus the time he married Jack Veneno to avoid a riot in the Dominican Republic.

  11. Gents: There's a reason that we put off taking taking tranqs, mood elevators, or whatever despite seeing our SOs deriving tremendous benefits from same. It's because we're guys and have that stupid as fuck macho bullshit going on. "Pills. I don't need no stinkin' pills." I had this attitude gently overcome by my wife, who has been on fluoxetine for years with terrific results. "Did you take your new pills today?" "No, I didn't feel like it." "Would you skip your oxy because you didn't feel like taking it?" "Of course not , that would be all kinds of stupid, you know I can't even walk without it." "Here's a clue, you can't function without your fluoxitne either, you just don't realize it, when you don't take your medicine, the next day you spend all day back in that room listening to Jim Cornette or bothering people on those message boards..." Yeah, that pretty much nails it. : -)

  12. "Wow. Texas jobbed to Maryland. That may be the worst loss a Texas-based team takes today." Looks at internet two hours later "Well. Baylor loses to Liberty. And that's only the 50th most embarrassing thing to happen to BU over the past year."

  13. Sylvester Stallone has been teasing Creed 2 hard lately, and I'm excited. But also confused. It looks like they are doing Adonis vs El Hijo del Drago instead of the fight the first movie left obvious. I can't remember his name now, but the guy that knocked Donnie out at the gym in the beginning and was supposed to challenge Conlan was the obvious choice for Creed 2 and I'm discouraged they aren't going to do the obvious and relatively realistic thing.

  21. For anyone who thought digital release would end the theatrical run, think again. Wonder Woman just passed Civil War domestic and is expected to pass Iron Man 3 tomorrow. This will make it the fifth highest grossing domestic superhero film behind the Avengers movies and the last two Nolan Batman films. Worldwide is another story but this just keeps being ridiculously impressive. It's been out on digital for like a week and is still pulling nearly a half million a day theatrically.

  29. I doubt it. Cain, Overeem, and Ngannou would all be ahead of him off the top of my head. Plus, Stipe is still in a contract dispute. If they want Stipe to fight on the Detroit card, they're probably going to have to resolve that in the next few weeks. So Volkov would need to fight to contenders between now and next fall to get a title shot. FWIW You did hit the different announcer combination prediction.

  30. My guess is that they held off on officially announcing his retirement so they could have him do a once-in-a-while return run if he doesn't win the race. I live in Knox County, though, and knowing how things go around here, I will be shocked if he doesn't win.

  32. Jarrett gets a bad rap but I enjoyed his two WWE runs. His WCW runs were mostly garbage and he should be eternally shamed for giving Russo employment but I don't condemn him for pushing himself in TNA. When he decided to wrestle he was pretty good, but got way too caught up in the garbage walk and brawl/overbooked Russo-esque atrocities that plagued WCW and TNA. Also, since I'm speaking about Jeffs, am I insane for thinking Jeff Hardy is a WON HOF contender? Was thinking about this recently. One of the most over babyfaces of the last twenty years in an era where babyfaces don't connect. Was probably the hottest babyface in the country during the last part of his WWE run and headlined PPVs. Was the bigger star in a legitimately over and influential tag-team . Helped popularize the TLC style of match, which changed wrestling. Has shown to be a draw for smaller promotions like TNA and the indies. I would assume he was a decent draw in WWE, as much as anyone can be. I think it's an interesting discussion. I mean, yeah...the drug issues are terrible and he never had a sustained run as a WWE main eventer (though if he had stuck around he probably would have). In-ring work has been hit and miss, too but I think he's an interesting case when you consider the requirements involved.

  33. I'm watching the video of Corino talking to a WWE cameraman at the Performance Center, and honestly the gig marks on his forehead just look like age wrinkles now. But with WWE being HD, who knows what it could look like.

  34. Crossfit is a brand, and so disparate in terms of what individual gyms do that it's hard to say. Olympic lifts directly contribute to overall athleticism though; you see them incorporated into every football weights program for a reason. However, the technical component is significant. They're hard to do correctly, and even if you do them right, there is a higher risk of injury than with less dynamic movements. Which is the reason they're performed as part of a professionally supervised and programmed routine. Even then, some argue squats/sprints/dead lifts/box jumps/etc might be safer and, when combined, more effective. The point is, Alabama doesn't just fling open its gym doors, and tell its players to do whatever they think is best. That WWE does even less than that is... odd, fundamentally. We don't know how to best train/injury-proof pro wrestlers. But shouldn't the biggest wrestling company in the world try to find out? You're absolutely right that specificity matters most of all, though. Any training a wrestler does has to compliment the wrestling first.

  35. The nWo should have turned on Hogan the next night after he loses to Sting again. Let Hogan go away for six months and come back as a good guy. Maybe with the money he was making, WCW felt like they could not let Hogan be off TV that long. But the route they chose did not work.

  36. I was watching someone doing those goofy-ass Crossfit kipping pullups yesterday and, as a 40+ guy, all I could think was, "I guess that's fine when you're young, but that's going to absolutely destroy your shoulders and elbows, maybe your neck, when you're older." Much like CTE, we're really not going to see the big picture until the Crossit generation is older. Ditto for Olympic-style lifting.

  37. Some of the theories that come up on the message boards dedicated to the books are so strange. Just people willfully ignoring evidence, clues, and common sense to say "But what if R+L=J isn't true...and Jon's real father is time traveling Bran!!!" I guess it's just the amount of time between books has allowed people to discuss them to death and now to kill time they come up with whatever bizarre nonsense possible and strain like hell to connect the dots.
