  1. I shouldn't address this, I know, and I'm sorry. But I don't think anyone here is a huge fan of Brie Bella. I, personally, think she's pretty bad at being a pro wrestler. But his fucking wife came to the ring to be with him when he emotionally ended his career and somehow you see ulterior motives there. Because you are a vile, misogynistic piece of shit.

  2. The site already feels more positive this morning. (for the record I don't put people on ignore because I feel like I might miss something even if they suck)

  5. It certainly does seem like someone is trying to use this moment to get themselves over like a real carny.

  8. Cm Punk is my favorite wrestler. It's been that way since I was 16. He was lighting it up in ROH and out talking all the guys on Raw, but he was never the best. Samoa Joe was in the midst of an historic title run, but he was never the best. My childhood idol Shawn Michaels was back on TV, but even he was never the best. It seems like such a hard distinction to make at 16, but it couldn't have been any clearer You see, later on that same year I saw Bryan Danielson live for the first time at the Frontier Fieldhouse in Chicago and he was already the GOAT. I knew it then and I know it now. To me, the most amazing thing about Bryan's career is that the rest world was able to figure it out. Thanks for everything, champ.

  9. Yeah, some stuff killed me, but the Brie/yes joke and Vince and Titus wrestling cracked me up. I love wrestling. So, for those who aren't baseball fans, there's a famous quote that goes "It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." Wrestling is a lot like that. It's designed to break your heart. All good things come to an end or aren't realized, but we keep watching, and eventually, something special breaks through for us to enjoy until it has run is course.

  10. Bryan's retirement may finally get Cibernetico and stro cashed. He is truly the most giving wrestler of all time. Grateful will be the perfect word.

  11. The problem with the ignore feature is that it doesn't matter if you ignore someone because every time the person you ignored says something awful you can count on seven people to quote the awful shit because it's so fucking awful that they can't help it.

  12. He has that agreement but he's already forgotten about it. Now I'm imagining Dreamer tatted up with "close the refrigerator door," "October 12, 2002" and "don't trust Raven" inked on him a la Memento.

  13. Hey, asshole. The word you're going for, is s-e-m-i-n-a-l. Seminal... much like the stains your mom finds in your sheets after you think about Brie Bella FINALLY being yours.

  17. My last favorite wrestler retired, but if Bryan isn't going to be cynical, I'm not going to be. Some of the best times of my teenage years were spent with friends, going on pilgrimages to indy shows to see him wrestle. Many things changed, few of them for the better. I fell into addiction and dropped out of school. But there were always those friends, those ROH tapes, and Bryan Danielson. It kept me grounded. It was something to look forward to when there was nothing else. When I put myself back together, finished school, sobered up, I saw his ascent; and I drove to New Orleans with those same friends, to see him headline Wrestlemania. He's given me a lot; and I would say, normally, that it isn't about me. Except that was the thing that really, ultimately, made him special: he always made you feel that it was. Even, to the last, said so.

  25. I know this much is true: the crowds won't get behind another wrestler for a long time like they did with Daniel Bryan. That's something you can't book to happen - it just occurs organically and it's beautiful. When that happens, and they eventually ride off into the sunset, you can literally feel the void they've left behind. That's something special and it doesn't happen too often. Some people might not get it or understand why it happens, but to those of us that rallied behind him - it felt real. And isn't that why we're all watching this crazy sport called pro wrestling? To get heavily invested in a character and believing, even if it's only for a moment, that it's real? He honestly made it feel real, and brought emotion and passion into his craft. We could all feel it, and I think judging by tonight - he could too. Thank you, Bryan Danielson.

  26. Wrestling is such a brutal horrible, wonderful mistress. It's given us so much over the years and taken so much away. I hope it's a happy ending for him. As for the rest of us. You've watched this in the last two days. Watch this again. It's a panacea. There's still so much joy in this messed up, stupid thing we all love.

  29. As someone who enjoys women's wrestling, I look forward to the creepiest thing in future discussions being peoples' assorted variations on "I'd hit that," rather than a full on Madonna/Whore complex on open display.

  30. You can say that but I will repeat the following until people stop with this PR bullshit about WWE really caring about their performers. They just recently employed Tommy Dreamer for a brief stint. Tommy Dreamer, the man who admits the following: Can we please get off that WWE CARES ABOUT THEIR ATHULETES line?

  35. Exactly how I feel. A huge part of why I love this whacky thing has left and not on his own terms. But he's leaving to start a family with the woman he loves and should live a wonderful modern hippie life. It's going to be a painful first few years but he'll be okay.I loved him in ROH. I loved watching him slum it up in a local indy in a sweaty Vancouver suburb gym in 2004. He was a heel but a huge portion of the fans cheered and applauded his greatness. He fought it but eventually, during a standing ovation, he cracked and did the Mr. Roper smile, as Piranesi so perfectly put it. Just a beautiful soul who made this overly cynical and jaded fan feel again. He made me feel like a little kid again, cheering passionately for my rasslin hero and loathing the antagonists.

  36. What a speech. It had me tearing up. D-Bry is a class act what a way to go out. I like alot of other people wanted to see a long reign after Mania 30 and i wanted to see Bryan reign on top. But life doesnt work like that. He gave us five star matches and for a brief moment wrestling was a meritocracy, the guy who gave it his all every night and was truly the best got what he deserved. he fought for everything he got and every time it looked like the "machine" was trying to bury him it only made him stronger and made the fans wanting more. He never gave up and he never got bitter or negative he always had a smile on his face and kept his head high and went out and busted his ass. It paid off and he got his big moment in the Super Dome. Thank You Bryan. You proved that hard work and dedication does pay off. And those few saying Brie stole his thunder or tried to get herself over. Thats her husband, giving up the thing he loves, the only thing he has done his adult life, well before he really wants to. Supporting him in what has to be one of the scariest decisions of his life. What does he do now all he knows is wrestling. She'd be a bitch if she didnt go out there at the end and comforted him. Sorry for the rambling, I just wanted to show my gratitude to one of the best I've ever seen in some small way.

  37. As good as the Daniel Bryan speech was, nothing beats Cibernetico calling out Brie for ruining a seminole moment. Now I'm picturing Daniel Bryan coming out for his retirement speech in faux seminole warpaint and headdress, whooping his way down to the ring and the crowd getting uncomfortable looks on their face and going "You know I like Daniel Bryan but this feels...wrong." I seriously can't stop laughing at this image in my head of monstrous applause and cheering giving way to scattered applause as Bryan does a war-dance around the ring and Brie coming out and ushering him away. #thankyouseminoledanielbryan

  38. Someone said it in this thread earlier; Daniel Bryan made me proud to be a wrestling fan. A tremendous sendoff for a tremendous performer and human being. Go live the good life. Thank you for the smile you gave me at the end of 'Mania 30.

  40. I, like most of you no doubt, have taken crap from people for watching men pretend to fight each other. But tonight's one of those times where I feel bad for people who don't like professional wrestling. There is no other form of entertainment where fans feel as connected to the performers.

  41. Yo-Kai Watch is the game my son got for Christmas that he's become infatuated with. He even watched the show on YouTube. It looks like a fun franchise and he said I could start a save file on his game, but I don't need to start another game that I'll ignore while I'm grinding rifts in Diablo 3. I've got a Firebird's Finery/Etched Sigil/Disintegrate/Meteor Shower build going on and I'm powering through TX rifts. I'm just a few seconds slow on completing a greater rift at that difficulty, but I think I'll eventually get lucky enough RNG on the mob density/elite spawns to get through it one of these times.
