ChesterCopperpot Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 The first inductee will be announced on WWE.com today at 1pm EST WWE @WWE BREAKING NEWS: The first member of the @WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016 will be announced on http://WWE.com at 1 p.m. ET today.
Bear Wyatt Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm going to guess it's Owen Hart since WWE just released a new DVD about his career.
ARMDRAGON Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'd be surprised if this year's celebrity selection isn't Lemmy.
The Z Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I'm going with Genichiro Tenryu. The network just launched in Japan, they just signed a bunch of guys away from a Japanese promotion and Tenryu just retired and has worked for the WWE before.
Web Conn Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Plus Tenryu is fucking awesome and has worked with Hogan, Savage and Flair just to name a few.
The Nature Boy Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Does this all but confirm that Sting is done in-ring?
Cristobal Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I think the fact that he suffered significant injuries in both of his two matches and a major injury in the last one and also he's 58 and doesn't need to wrestle again confirms he's all but done. 1
MonteCarl Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Speculation on the 2016 HoF class: Sting The Freebirds Vader Owen Hart DDP Honky Tonk Man Lemmy I keep waiting for Cindy Lauper to go in as the Celebrity, and this year could've been her year, but with Lemmy just passing away, I think he goes in this year.
The Green Meanie Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 How many years in running have The Freebirds been on that speculation list?
Pete Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Real Estate Steve is in. Ahem. "IT'S STING!!! STING IS HERE!!!"
MonteCarl Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 How many years in running have The Freebirds been on that speculation list? Yes. True. But it's Dallas this year, which is where they had their big run. And they've been on the speculation list for all these years because they do deserve to go in. This is the year to do it.
The Green Meanie Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Oh yeah, I don't disagree. I just think it's humorous in a reverse-how long has JTG been employed-situation. 1
offspring515 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Please put Vader in so he can stop tweeting about wanting to go in. Please!
ChrisM Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Speculation on the 2016 HoF class: Sting The Freebirds Vader Owen Hart DDP Honky Tonk Man Lemmy I keep waiting for Cindy Lauper to go in as the Celebrity, and this year could've been her year, but with Lemmy just passing away, I think he goes in this year. I'd take out Honky, and replace him with a female like Ivory, Vickie Guerrero, or Jacqueline. Since it's in Dallas, my dark horse would be Chris Adams.
Michael Sweetser Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I imagine WWE wants to keep the number of deceased inductees to a minimum, and it's already going to be enough of a firestorm for them inducting Owen Hart.
The Nature Boy Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Based on the criteria on WWE.com: The Warrior Award will be given to someone who has exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance, and who lives life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of WWE Hall of Famer, The Ultimate Warrior. This year, the award will be presented by The Ultimate Warrior’s widow, Dana Warrior, and WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan to Steve Michalek, Connor’s father. The WWE Creative Team for their unwavering commitment to getting Roman Reigns over. 6
Craig H Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 This is going to sound totally crazy, but wouldn't DDP deserve that kind of award? Rehabilitating hardcore addicts and being successful at it, with whatever bumps in the road may occur, takes some kind of drive and...positivity...that is pretty incredible. The problem with that is that by presenting the award to Steve Michalek, there is this standard where giving it to someone like DDP, who people see as DDP, and not as someone who really, truly cares about people, could be seen as a step backwards.
Technico Support Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 No, because WWE is not about to admit the need for someone like DDP. "We're inducting this guy into our HOF because our company had a hand in a bunch of guys becoming addicts and they'd be dead if not for him" doesn't sound good.
Tromatagon Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 "So let's induct all the addicts he helped instead"
Casey Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 And does DDP even have a HOF worthy career? I liked him in WCW, but damn.
Victator Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Real Estate Steve is in. I really do not want to be rude, I mean I really don't. But his name is Sting, he is strong as a bull and quick as a cat. 5
sydneybrown Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 did Koko fucking B Ware? There's always the one on here to defend Koko by saying he was a bad-ass in Memphis. And I'll be the one: He was a bad-ass in Memphis. His early 80s stuff there was pretty damn great. Even if he wasn't inducted for his stuff from that period, I'm glad he got the recognition anyway.
