  1. Charlotte North Carolina? Although that might have an odd interaction with Kenny Omega's introduction.
  2. Has anyone other than Brock tried to go the other way, from wrestling to football?
  3. Outside the NFL, a lot of pro football players still have off-season gigs. Granted it's twenty-odd years ago, but I used to rent NES games from a store run by a CFL linebacker.
  4. My mind boggles at the fact that some people think the third most over guy in Team Taz* should have gone over Orange Cassidy. *Fourth if you include Taz
  5. Let's see. So it seems that of the original Four Horsewomen, we've decided that: -Charlotte is selfish. -Sasha is dangerous. -Becky hasn't been back long but has burned through a lot of good will from before she left. -Bailey's probably only safe from all of this blowback because she's on the shelf. I'm not sure you can blame the performers; they probably have little say in how they're booked. I doubt any of the talent asked to have a total of, what, ten minutes of in-ring time outside of Crown Jewel this week. They all can do better (well, except Eva Marie, whose very presence shows you something's gone horribly wrong.) But they're not being given anything worthwhile. And then I hear people positively comparing the WWE women's division to AEW's, and it boggles me. Maybe they have more out-of-the-ring storylines, but when it comes to actual, you know, wrestling, you get more women's action in a single Youtube show than in the entire Queen of the Ring (or whatever) tournament outside the finals.
  6. I feel like Eddie is on commentary too much. It's starting to grate on me and I didn't think that was possible. He's just too combative and shooty. One nice thing about Jade Cargill getting an in-ring promo segment is it meant we didn't have to watch her wrestle. She's kind of in that Brian Cage zone for me, great look but an in-ring charisma vacuum. Hayter did a more convincing job of getting over being an ass kicker in that opening squash than Cargill has her entire time on the roster. Re: Serpentico, I feel like a lot of the time he's doing fine until he listens to Luther one too many times, and that's when he starts messing things up.
  7. Think about how the wrestling landscape has changed in the last twenty years, that Christian f'n Cage is the "big guy" in a big guy vs little guy scenario. I'm not too bothered by the Homicide save having music/tron, since he already had an out-of-AEW match against Suzuki booked so it was understandable that he might be there to back up his friend. I am bothered, however, by how Eddie Kingston has so many friends. Now THAT'S not believable.
  8. I don't think Bearcat is a bad nickname, although usually I think of guys losing, not gaining, nicknames when they go from the indies to the WWE. Could have been Bearclaw. Then have him eating apple fritters all the time backstage.
  9. A lot of folks in AEW use the flatliner, too. I'm a little disappointed nobody ever brings Kanyon up on commentary when they do, but I guess maybe his is too sad a story.
  10. Help me with the Omega shirt symbolism this week, folks?
  11. Shawn Spears is great and I will hear no one gainsay it.
  12. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say you hadn't/haven't seen his previous intros, because he was saying shit about her for weeks before the suspension. If what he said about her played into the suspension in any way, it was only because everything else got people's attention, because nobody said boo when he was talking about her getting Eiffel Tower'd by Griff and Pillman Jr.
  13. Brock Lesnar basically nailed it for a good while.
  14. The thing about Abadon is, she was actually cleverly booked given the amount of folks they have to work with. She got a "freaks out another wrestler" spot, got to eliminate the hometown underdog, and then got pitched immediately to defuse any negative reaction from said underdog being tossed.
  15. Where's Stu Greyson? He has been, as they say, conspicuous by his absence.
  16. The combined face-punchability of the Gunns and Ricky Starks might results in thousands of broken televisions worldwide.
  17. Would it make people feel better if they hung out with Tully and Arn and were called the Four Horsemen? Because it seems like every two months somebody wants a random assortment of guys to be "the next Four Horsemen" and the only real difference so far is that there's more than four of them. I mean, Kenny's been champ since December, he'll have to hold it til January 2022 to match Flair's first Horsemen run.
  18. Going in blind, I thought the Uno/QT match was the main event, until they showed "Up Next" graphic for Pac/Sydal. Preferred it to the actual main, too. Not a huge fan of Andrade's so far, and he was too much the focal point considering he was hundreds of feet from the ring. And Robert Anthony has looked good every time he's shown up.
  19. In that case, Darren Young? He came out as gay and nothing about his presentation changed IIRC.
  20. I felt kind of bad for the Dark Order going in there against Death Triangle because the fans were SOLIDLY behind Penta and PAC (oh, and Rey Fenix was there.) The crowd also seemed surprisingly tepid for OC, but as much as I like the Blade those three are clearly the HFO b-team.
  21. So "Move the needle" seems like a corporate talking point, rather than Roman saying something off the cuff. I guess it's the new Ruthless Aggression.
  22. Kurt Angle became excellent very quickly. Whether he remained that way is a matter of debate, but he's got to be in the discussion for fastest "getting it."
