Just imagine all the MC Hammer songs that wrestlers would have used if they were still using music without permission at that time

“2 Legit 2 Quit” would be a solid slogan for a mid card babyface in 1991

The "2 Legit 2 Quit" hand motion would have been perfect for a baby face to do during the sleeper hold arm drop.

sadly the stars didn't align for Hogan to use the 2 Legit 2 Quit hand motion to hulk out of the Cobra Clutch (the single came out shortly after the end of the Hogan/Slaughter feud)

The Hulkster could have used MC Hammer watching his back against Sid and Papa Shango

watching Bret/Diesel from Survivor Series 95 on the Vault and thinking about how we didn't get a goofy "no turnbuckle pads" gimmick match in the late 90s

also, Bret Hart countering an early jackknife by wrapping his hands around Diesel's leg is an amazingly logical counter to a powerbomb. Of course they did rope breaks for a no-DQ match, with Hennig asking "what's the ref gonna do about it?"... with retrospect, was Hennig a good or bad commentator in 95/96?

and the chair spots with Diesel's ankle tied made me wonder if it was possible to realistically work hitting a guy in the hand/wrist with a chair while they were on the mat

fucck.... Bret just ate shit on a plancha, ouch. I know the table spot with Bret being bumped off the apron into the table was probably more memorable but the plancha spot looked ouchier than the table spot

That's how Big Nog countered Bob Sapp's Powerbomb in Pride FC. Well, attempted to counter. He still got slammed hard, just not right on his head.

Usual practice would be to hit the mat, with the 'targeted' body part under the seat of the chair, but the chair angled on impact so it only looks like the chair is hitting flesh. Actually hitting with the edge, I imagine you'd have to pull back on the impact pretty drastically (and obviously) to avoid doing real damage. You could do the 'gently place object against body and then pretend to lean down on it' spot though.

These guys like, never come up, but I liked them as semi-associates of the Hart Foundation for a bit. I'm racking my brain but I think teaming w Anvil/Bulldog Montreal was their last WWF show before they were sent to Paul E

Team Canada vs Team USA in which Phil Lafon was the only Canadian

same Bret/Diesel match had a chairshot where it looked like Diesel hit Bret with the padded seat part of the ringside chair. So that's another option for hitting people in some limbs with a chair.

Having a no holds barred match between two babyfaces was pretty bold for the 1995 WWF and probably a sign "hey, someone's going heel here"

The only time I remember 2 Legit 2 Quit being referenced in pro wrestling is Jackie using it when she was with Kevin Sullivan and Jimmy Hart during a stand up interview with Gene Okerlund. This was either a week or so before or after Woman told Jackie to and I quote "talk to the hand". And you thought Vince was behind the times.

Anyway, regarding Hammer: Over the weekend I was watching Douglas/Holyfield from 1990 since the anniversary just passed. Holyfield walked out to the ring to "Pray" by MC Hammer. Other than thinking how on brand it was for Evander to come out to a song that literally mentions the word pray about 500 times, I was wondering if MC Hammer ever got an offer to do something with WWF during the height of his popularity. Then again, he was likely on a world tour when the WWF would have stopped through the Bay Area.

There were multiple weeks of this shit and Jimmy Hart wore the phrase on a jacket of his. Sweet mother of mercy.

Don't forget Chris Benoit telling Mongo to "talk to the hand 'cuz the face don't understand" and actually holding his hand up to Mongo's face, which is easily one of the funniest things to happen in pro wrestling history.

Rock needs a new publicist or something, unless he's playing some 4D Chess where "raging douchebag" is his brand.  I'm giving him the benefit of a doubt because it's pretty clear he's a tone-deaf narcissist who thinks everything he does is awesome because he's the one doing it.

That Tazz & Bugs pic gets weirder the longer I look at it.  I just noticed both are wearing their pants Kris Kross style, Tazz has braids, and it looks like he's holding a condom in a wrapper.

just choosing to imagine Hogan bringing out MC Hammer to counter Harvey Whippleman in 1992 and the Indiana crowd just having no idea what to do with this appearance

Russo era, we could have had Pumps and a Bump thong MC Hammer making appearances

Welcome to the 90s! I remember those Looney Tunes shirts. I had one with Buggs, Taz, Daffy, and Lola in a droptop. I thought I was the coolest kid in 5th grade.

I also still have a Chicago Bulls themed one where Buggs is MJ, Daffy is Pippen and Taz is Rodman with red hair on top. It's of course pretty ratty now but it's fine for wearing in the house.

I totally remember Virgil trying to make "2 Legit 2 Quit" work for him at some point. But failed miserably lol

i definitely had one that was similar to the image @assfax posted, but with a basketball. the front said "if you can't play" and the back, along with a pic of bugs' and taz's back, said "we ain't giving lessons". i thought it was #1 and the best. possibly related, i suck at basketball.

Oh yeah, I remember this now.

God bless him, but I don't think it should have came from him either. Sounded too much like a father figure saying it.

Top Five - Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Jim Breaks, William Regal, and Eddy Guerrero
Mount Rushmore - Jushin Liger, Stone Cold Steve Austin, El Santo, Antonio Inoki
Magi - The Great Muta, Terry Funk, Vader
Magic/Bird- Ric Flair/Sting
GOAT - Of all the people left whom I haven't mentioned, but whom I would consider for that spot, there is only one possible answer: Rey Misterio Jr.

I had so many of these shirts. I vividly remember putting my cd boom box with "WWF the Music Volume 2" in the garage and shooting hoops while wearing them.

The Rock looks like he just grabbed his new JNCO jeans and is ready for the Limp Bizkit show.

using the Roku to watch YouTube thru the TV and i'm watching HBK/Sid from Survivor Series 96 from the Vault. Thinking that JR claiming 1996 Shawn Michaels was 225 or 228lbs is a bold lie

I remember going to a house show in 96* and getting fairly close to Michaels and being shocked at how small he was.

*It was this show:

Spoiler

WWF @ St. Louis, MO – Kiel Center – June 16, 1996 (8,047)
Marty Jannetty & Leif Cassidy defeated the Bushwhackers when Leif Cassidy pinned Luke with an elbow drop after Marty Jannetty tripped Luke behind the referee’s back
Justin Bradshaw pinned Barry Horowitz with the lariat
Savio Vega pinned Owen Hart with a spin wheek kick; St. Louis Rams’ Demarco Farr was the special referee
Marc Mero pinned Hunter Hearst Helmsley after Sable slapped Helmsley on the apron
Steve Austin pinned Duke Drose (sub. for Jake Roberts) with the Stunner
The Ultimate Warrior defeated Vader via count-out
WWF Tag Team Champions the Smoking Gunns defeated Henry & Phinneas Godwinn (sub. for Skip & Zip) when Bart rolled up Phinneas as he was distracted by Sunny
Ahmed Johnson defeated Davey Boy Smith via disqualification when Owen Hart came off the top rope with his arm cast to break the cover following the Pearl River Plunge
The Undertaker pinned Mankind with the tombstone
WWF World Champion Shawn Michaels pinned WWF IC Champion Goldust with the superkick

Diesel was only a tweener for a month, Maybe two months. By the time Royal Rumble ended he was full on heel. I wish he got to be tweener much longer because that was new. Even though wasn't Lex Luger a tweener in WCW for the first few months?

He was heelish but because he was still friends with Sting he still was kinda babyface till around January or February.

Once Diesel starts feuding with Taker , i don't think anyone was ready to cheer him at all. Him turning on Shawn was more of a Sting/Bayley type situation where he looked stupid for even teaming with Diesel in MSG for the turn

By 1990/1991, Shawn was already in his mid 20s. Did people think he had a second go at puberty where he magically grew to be over six feet tall by the time he turned 30? He always pretty small build wise especially in there even with guys who were only 6'3" - 6'5".

It's not a Steph Curry thing where people only imagine he's small cause everyone around him is basically a giant.

Yeah, if the was that (legitimately) at his bulkiest (when he was announced at 238) and leaned up "20lbs" on several occasions (according to Gorilla) when returning at '94, then again when challenging Diesel at WM XI and once more when challenging Bret, without ever getting back to the bulkier phase, that would put him around 180lbs or so around '96. Just basic math, I don't know what his actual weight was at any point of his career.
