Ziggy Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 My older brother was in training in San Antonio and he brings up to me every 6 months how small Shawn Michaels was when he saw in on a plane in 2003. My brother himself is about 6'1 6'2 so I suppose they were the same hight. My brother was probably expecting him to be much taller being on TV. Plus Shawn Michaels post retirement was alot smaller than when he left. It was a good thing he switched to the baggy pants Rey was wearing to cover the Knee braces. It's funny hearing Nash talk about the Bloated toad era of Shawn Michaels from late 92 to 94. He talks about him like he was Test or someone like that.

My mom's youngest sister would always get me a shirt as part of my Xmas. And to get ideas what I might be into she would ask the people at the bank she worked with. 1994 Xmas and I was 20 then, I got a long sleeve t shirt with Marvin the Martian on it. Marvin had on a fflannel, baggy jeans, boots and a stocking cap. I thanked her for it. And IIRC my then wife made it one of her sleep shirts. 1 3

We made bet over some match. If he lost,he did,he had to go out to the lake near his house wear a BUff bagwell hat and a big johnson shirt and breakdance. I was looking on Ebay for Big Johnson shirts in his size, Extra pale/extra skinny/extra bald, when he messaged me "BIG JOHNSON STILL EXISTS" and sent me a link to the website. He got the shirt and did wear it while attempting to breakdance. 3
bobholly138 Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Heights and weights are always higher than reality with wrestlers. Had a local guy claimed he was 7 foot tall. Did a hillbilly gimmick so wrestled barefoot. Now barefoot shaved head I'm 6'3" with my boots and a bit of hair I'm 6'4". One show out table was next to this guys. I stood next to him for a minute and if he was over 6'7" I would be shocked. Get home from the show and got a message from the promoter "Hey if yall are set up next to MM next time slouch some if you are standing near him. He kept bitching about That tall kid standing by me making me look short." Hell what height does Matt Hardy claim? I know I got at least 3 inches in height on him.

Beats me, but I remember seeing Matt at a Jersey All Pro show when he was making Indy appearances during his "sabbatical" from WWE after the Lita drama and I was shocked at how much bigger he was than everyone else there.
SovietShooter Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 So, I was (still am, actually) just a bit over 6ft; so I've always billed myself at 6'1". For most of my in-ring career I was around 240lbs, and I was billed at 110kg, which is 242.5 lbs. A lot of guys on the indies pretty much used their real height (because it was harder to bullshit people that close) but exaggerated their weight. No one billed themselves under 200lbs at all, and most guys saw the Hardys billed at 230ish and used that as a minimum. At 6'1" I towered over guys like Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, etc. I'd say that both Chris Hero and Claudio are 6'3"ish, Mox is a hair taller than me, DJZ is probably 5'9". Sami Callahan is under 6ft. Weight is easier to lie about... If you have a bodybuilder physique, you're probably going to weigh a lot less than you look. For example, Brian Cage is listed as 268lbs... I bet he doesn't actually weigh more than 210. Another example, CM Punk is always billed at 215lbs, but when he fought in UFC he was a Welterweight, which tops out at 170lbs. Even if he was cutting weight to hit 170, he wasn't 45lbs heavier in WWE 3

So, me and Cage are 20 lbs apart IRL? Holy shit, in that case I actually outweigh PAC by a few pounds. I guess that's the difference of PED's and no PED's, huh?

AxB Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Austin Aries told a story of when he was breaking in, he was told that every wrestler had to be billed at at least 6'0" and 200lbs. So they would claim he was 205 lbs when he was legit under 140. Perhaps Adam Cole received the same career guidance. 1

There's the opposite of that, like the time I did some announcing for a group that mandated nobody could weigh more than the heavyweight champion. Made things a bit awkward for the 300-pound guy having to be billed at 255 because the champ was 260. It was dropped when a guy that was billed at 210 won the title. 1 1

I would easily say he's close to his billed weight, for comparison there where some guys at a gym I work out at who fought in the UFC at 205 so you could say they where probably walking around between fights at 220-230. Cage by comparison is a MASSIVE human being

Not really a comparison, but I remember there being a lot of talk about Ken Shamrock weighing a lot less than he was billed at and he always looked absolutely massive to me.

Infinit Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Saw this on a Facebook post that gave credit to some wrestling site, so I don't know how credible it is, but supposedly Wade Barrett will be returning as an in-ring competitor, and will be feuding with Drew. Hopefully Wade will have better luck with injuries, if he's in fact resuming his in ring career. 1
Ramo2653 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I ran into Silas Young at the gym by me pre-covid and he had to be about 5'9 (I'm 6'2.5 which I round up to 6'3) but my lord was he massive, I'm pretty sure each of his thighs were the bigger than my entire chest and I was around 230 back then. FTR were pretty short when I saw them at an NXT show that I got ringside seats to once. Nia was huge. Eva Marie also wrestled and she was stunningly beautiful in person and I understand how she got every opportunity to succeed in WWE. Cena was shorter than I thought he'd be, but somehow wider than I ever imagined. I think that's it for wrestlers that caught me off guard. I got to see a pre-WWE Moxley at a DGUSA show and he was average size. CIMA and the other DG guys were about what I expected, but CIMA knew how to command a room.
AxB Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Estimating bodyweight is tricky because of the "Muscle weighs more than fat" thing, and the increased bone density you get from heavy lifting. Some people can look pretty lean (or have that 'undefined bulk' physique) but be heavy with strength.

I’m pretty sure the Vault guy would get fired and the channel would get shuttered if he did a “story of Chris Benoit’s murder/suicide” (not advocating for that because it would be massively fucked up) Edited November 15, 2024 by Cobra Commander

One less than whatever the number of Ode to Joy is! I thought that was funny, even though I didn't appreciate MAD magazine's view of pro wrestling at the time, even if it ended up being totally on point! 3
