colonial Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 James Noble, best known for playing Gov. Gatling on "Benson", has died at 94. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/29/arts/television/james-noble-absent-minded-governor-on-benson-dies-at-94.html?_r=1 "Benson" was required TV viewing at my parents' house back in the day, and I still catch an episode now and again on FamilyNet.
piranesi Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 It's kind of amazing how on seeing the picture in that article I was immediately whistling the theme song of a show I probably haven't seen (like anywhere...does anyone have the rights to it even?) in legit approaching 30 years. 1
nate Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Didn't James Noble also play some racist villain in a film or something?

I actually have the "Soap" theme stuck in my head now, amusingly enough. 1

Phantom Lord Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I thought Patty Duke was a bit older then 69. Damn, that means she was barely 40 thirty years ago. Man, 2016 continues to be just an unforgiving year.

I grew up watching Hitchiker's Guide and Blake's 7 on late night public television as a kid. Such an influential show and so very important to the legacy of sci-fi. RIP.
RIPPA Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Doris Roberts - best known for playing Raymond's mom on Everybody Loves Raymond - passed away at the age of 90
piranesi Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 It's weird to think how long ago that show was. I remember hearing someone talk about it when I was on line for the Thunder River at Six Flags over Mid America with my then girlfriend and now wife of 12 fucking years. And now that made me look up Six Flags over mid America to see the fate of all my favorite rides: Jet Scream 1981 -1988 Schwarzkopf Looping Star Was located in USA section, where Batman: The Ride is located today. Replaced Super Sports Car Ride. Indirectly replaced by Ninja, ride moved to Six Flags Astroworld where it operated as Viper until the park closed in 2005, then the ride was scrapped.

I guess I haven't been online in a bit, but this news crushes me. Blake's 7 is one of the shows that was so influential to so many later space operas. The dialogue and crew interactions on the show were spot on. Damn, 71. R.I.P. Mr Thomas
Curt McGirt Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Everybody's no selling the death of Mickey Rooney. That dude lived FOREVER. And had quite the sexual adventures along the way... http://dangerousminds.net/comments/mickey_rooney_was_a_freak
Curt McGirt Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Facebook (and alcohol) fooled me. Disregard. (But that is one bizarre article) Yeah it's time to go to bed now, at 5 AM. Long, long day. Where's an IHOP when you need one...
