Anton Yelchin, who played the role of Chekov in the recent Star Trek reboot series, has died in an automobile accident. He was 27.

Fuck. His career was just taking off.   RIP.

The worst part about Yelchin's death is that there's ample evidence his Jeep is part of a recall program where "unconventional gear shifter led to several documented rollaway accidents" starting in April, so who knows if he got the recall notice in time.

He was the best thing, by far, about Terminator: Salvation.

I think we can all agree on that.

Though Yelchin never struck me as a guy who would have made it "HUGE~!" in Hollywood.

He was just a bit too weird and quirky.

But he'd have definitely carved out a nice career for himself.

And dying at 27, in a freak accident through no fault of your own, is just an absolute fucking tragedy.  Man, I at least hope he didn't suffer or anything.

The list of his failed, canceled or "fired from" projects on wikipedia is astounding.

Holy shit, Footloose alone..."In the process, Cimino reimagined the film as a musical-comedy inspired by The Grapes of Wrath."

I took one semester of a film class and for a couple of weeks we focused on Cimino, more specifically Heaven's Gate. I had a fascination with the film for months after until I could finally get my hands on it and see it foe the first time.

RIP Noel Neill, former Lois Lane, age 95.

Neill apparently was the number 2 pin-up girl durimg WWII, only trailing Betty Grable.

He is someone that definitely deserves his own thread, but I hated to hear about Abbas Kiarostami's passing yesterday.

All of his films have been on my pile of shame for quite some time. I will probably finally watch Close-Up this week.

RIP Michael Cimino.

Heaven's Gate might be rubbish, but it is, at least, beautiful-looking rubbish

Is Garry Marshall big enough to warrant his own thread?

David Huddleston just kept randomly showing up in stuff, I completely forgot that he was Lebowski. That being said, I always enjoyed him when I did spot him. RIP

So long and farewell to David Huddleston, aka The Big Lebowski, aka Santa Claus:

May he no longer have to compensate the owner of every rug that gets nicturated on.
