Today is a momentous day in history. Future generations will be able to point to June 26, 2015 and tell their children's children where they were on the day when the tide pulled back and America opened its collective eyes at how bright and glorious the future would now be.

As someone that's going at the end of August, Thank Rhyllor I don't have to deal with that.

Ya know, I mocked my wife quite a bit when she bought a selfie stick a couple months ago. Then we did a couple outings and took it with us. Was really nice to have, I must say.

Side benefit: selfie sticks lessen the effect of people looking at the screen of their phone instead of the camera lens when taking a selfie so you actually better photos, too.

As far as I can tell, this is the complete legalization nationwide.

Striking down DOMA in 2013 already accomplished the "all states must recognize marriages from states it is legal in" part.

Not really. It just abolished a Federal Law against it using 5 and 10. States were still free to not recognize marriages performed in other states and laws themselves were up to the states. This ruling nuked bans completely.

Three states are holding out, as of now, for the three weeks between now and when the ruling actually goes into effect. The other eleven are apparently issuing licenses today.

I called my Dad and talked to him for the first time in years on Fathers Day last week.

Today I get an email from him detailing all the ways he's proud of the man I've become.

Damn it, why does it have to be so dusty in here?

My wife had somebody come to the house to demo a waser softener. In the process they managed to fuck up ur sink and flood part of he kitchen. I managed to clean everything up, but still have to rip up and replace two baseboards. Makes this thread because i now win the argument over whether we need a 7000 dollar water softener by default.

After nine years at a soul-crushing job going nowhere, I just had two really great interviews with a new company. They've begun the background check process, so I'm expecting the job offer soon. It couldn't come at a better time, as my wife is expecting our first child in December. Even though I don't have a figure yet it will certainly be larger than what I make now, and there's actual room for growth with the company. If this doesn't work out I'll be moving over to the Son of A thread to wallow, but for now I'm dancing by myself to Daft Punk while my dog looks on disapprovingly.

Got in the zone at BJJ, started choking fools out and making them tap.  6 finishes tonight in sparring, all different techniques. For someone who rarely gets to go due to my job, this was a serious ego boost.  Can't wait to go tomorrow and get my ass kicked and put in my place.

As I'm probably not going to be online tomorrow - picking up mum and helping dad move out...

Happy day, Septics. You'll be back in the colony soon. Enjoy your day responsibly.

What could v be more responsible then eating a large amount of grilled animal protein, getting massively intoxicated, and setting off explosives?

Received a large raise at my job. Large enough that I now am able to afford Health Insurance for the first time in my adult life, and this is without seeing any impact on my monthly take home pay. And not just or myself, but my entire family. Feels nice to be able to provide for them in that way. Now how do I go about getting myself a doctor and getting one of them physicals/check-ups which I've never ever had in my life?

If your insurance provider is one of the big companies, they probably have a list of doctors (both primary care and specialist) in your area on their website. Call one of them up (you can also ask co-workers if they'd recommend their doctor and call one of those,) and ask if they're accepting new patients. If it is a big name insurance company, mention that you have insurance through your work with <big name insurance company> before asking if they have new patients, as some doctors will say "no" because they don't want medicaid/medicare patients.
