Big Fresh Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 The bolded is the point. A near irrelevant magazine's web edition is reporting on a hashtag. TIME is the only one that did. That's not speaking much to the movement. So did USA Today. 3
Patrick B. Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 God, you guys are cynical. Well, my faith in humanity was already pretty low, but it's nice to get definitive confirmation of my mindset.
username Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I remember Quake jacking his leg up with Jimmy Hart's megaphone to explain Andre on walking sticks. Don't recall what happened after Mania 7 though. Didn't he help the Bushwackers at Summerslam, then he was pretty much done? Am I looney? Other than an appearance at a Paris house show, that was it for him in WWF, yeah. He did a bunch of house shows in Europe, where they reprised the same finish of Andre helping Bulldog defeat Earthquake. I wonder if any of those were filmed, because I'm pretty sure Quake never ate a pinfall on TV, at least not during that run (he passed out in the Million Dollar Dream and got counted out against Hulk, but that's about it). I recall a MSG house show where Andre I believe nailed Quake with his crutch, distracting him enough so that Jake The Snake could hit the dtt and get revenge for having his snake squished, but I don't recall exactly where in this time frame it fits in.

I know there was a WWE Old School episode with that show. I think it was sometime in the spring of 91 in May I think. So was the WWF going to do an Earthquake/Andre match was that never going to happen? Andre kept on wrestling in Japan and Mexico because of the money. Would Andre have put Quake over in a "final" WWF match or would they have let him go out on top. Either way five minutes to build up to Andre's one bump...his elbow drop.
Hooks Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Someone mentioned earlier that Andre showing up at the Clash was a "fuck you" to McMahon. I remember back then thinking it was odd to see him there. But what had happened? Was there some sort of falling I don't remember or hadn't heard about?
Johnny Sorrow Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Speaking of Andre, I just read Cary Elwes book about the making of "The Princess Bride", and there are some great Andre stories and just heart warming sentiments from everyone involved in the movie about him.
Playa Shunna Ver 3.0 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 2/24/14: I subscribed to the Network. 1/25/15: I cancelled my subscription. Billing cycles being what they are, my subscription will end 2/24/15. If you think WWE isn't counting me in their "1 million", you are kidding yourself. If you aren't kidding yourself, you can do the math and recognize that the impact of #CancelWWENetwork, whatever it is, could not possibly be determined from that press release. Im.im the same boat. I'll be done on 2/24 so I guess I still count in the 1 million. I'll re-up if/when there is a PPV or or programming added that interests me. Right now I never use it and the current program does not entertain me enough where I want to pay for it. I can make fun of all the stiff wooden promos and bad acting from the free TV every week.

PetrolCB Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Cary Elwes loved Andre. A good friend of mine went to one of those film conventions with his girlfriend a while back, I'd asked him about who he met and talked to, said Cary Elwes was the nicest guy and broke down twice while sharing an Andre anecdote with a fan. Other than that, he was a solid guy who answered every question.
PetrolCB Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 While looking for upcoming SNL episodes on VH1 Classic (Jason Priestley/Teenage Fanclub on Feb. 9th @ 7:15a, set your dvr.), I noticed that Hogan's will be airing on Feb. 11th @ 2:15a. So, for those who've never seen it, there you go.

bazzil Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I wonder if there are porn forums where people argue about who should be pushed, whos being buried, who the bosses pet project is and whether theyre ready for the role etc 1
Cobra Commander Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Random: Just realized you could draw some parallels between 1998/99 Mick Foley and present day Daniel Bryan. Although, Foley fans weren't as vocal whenever Foley lost title matches to the Rock in 98/99 or Triple H in 2000, right?
BurningBeard Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 All this talk of Earthquake/Andre has reminded me that when I was a kid there was nothing more upsetting and disturbing than seeing Andre The Giant selling/in pain

BurningBeard Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Is the story of Gary Hart talking One Man Gang into getting those head tattoos with the Von Erich names on them real? That's... commitment
