The WWF's attempt at Hogan vs. Flair not drawing well was probably more a sign of the times rather than the build. A few weeks ago, I happen to stumble upon some of the 1992 house show attendance numbers. I am going to hazard a guess the reason why the 1992 numbers look absolutely atrocious is they started to atrophy sometime in 1991 or maybe earlier. Hogan vs. Flair sometime in 1987-89 probably would have done amazing business even in markets that wouldn't recognize Flair as a big star. Also, launching those matches on the West Coast was so odd to me. I went to their MSG match and thought it was a decent crowd. Maybe I am getting him confused with someone. Lately the history of 3rd man outside of the wrestling bubble hasn't been that great. Well except Pat McAfee but he was a huge wrestling mark anyway The worse thing about this is that it allows Graves to be more like his older heel character. Elsalvajeloco Posted July 9 Share Posted July 9 In all the years he's been doing PBP for boxing (currently for Top Rank and before that the last iteration of Friday Night Fights replacing Bob Papa), I've never been that fond of Tess for some reason. Maybe it's just his voice. Ironically, the guys I would have above him on the boxing PBP list already had stints in WWE in Todd Grisham and Mauro Ranallo. Problem is that list is only 3 or 4 guys. So he's either second to last or last. I can only think of one legendary call he had with boxing and that was Darnell Wilson's KO of Emmanuel Nwodo. That was his Jim Ross KotR 98 "As God as my witness, he's broken in half!" call. That was SEVENTEEN years ago. He's okay calling college football. Nothing mind blowing.
