They’re missing a perfect opportunity to quietly retire the TNT title and run an Osprey v Okada unification match to have one goddamn secondary title again.

The problem with Swerve is they waited too long to pull the trigger on him. He should’ve went straight from beating Hangman 2-0 to taking the belt from MJF.

The crowd turned him face because they wanted to see him elevated, but nothing character or storyline wise justified the turn. Furthermore he’s perceived as a lame duck champion waiting to drop the belt to Ospreay at Wembley.

Man, I completely echo this.

I'm a big Swerve fan, he was one of my favorites even when they weren't pushing him, but I think they totally botched the timing/execution of his title win plus the face/heel stuff was totally FUBAR after the home invasion to the point where he has to allude to it in promos constantly.  He's not nearly as over as he should be right now, as he WAS at one point, and that's on the booking not him

It’s gonna be Jack Perry being handed the belt by the EVPs and we’re gonna hate it.

Speak for yourself!

I'd enjoy that.  He's the only one without a belt and that one is available.

I'd say give it to Black but he didn't even seem that interested in the title during the Cope program

Mikey Rukus announced the passing of Susie Monk Johnson aka Suzie Mojo, the singer of the original Toni Storm theme that Mariah May has been using lately, at the age of 47.  RIP

Aww man bummer.  I absolutely love that song and was stoked when Mariah started using it.  It's a great Heart tribute song with a little bit of Rush thrown in.  RIP

Alvarez mentioned that current AEW is being booked like 2019 WWE -- TK making numerous last-minute changes, guys being booked to do nothing, other guys being booked the day of/day before the show, etc -- and god damn is that bad.  Going from 2 hours per week and 4 PPVs to 5 and sometimes 6 hours per week (PLUS ROH) and 10 PPVs is taking its toll, I think.  Dude needs to scale and delegate.

This might be unpopular, but I gotta call it like I see it: Eric Bischoff warned something like this might occur when Collision was added to the schedule because he faced similar with the addition of Thunder. Now, don't get me wrong: that guy's full of shit on a myriad of things; but in this very hyper-specific scenario, there really are very, very few other historical examples to go by.

Bischoff dances around his short comings but he is right about dealing with increased workload. Not delegating properly or not trusting anyone else. Giving your talent too much free rein. Dealing with TV execs and bean counters.  Making sure you are appealing to advertisers. AEW finds themselves in a predicament. Time to renew but they are at a weak point in their existence dealing with someone at WBD that likes saving money wherever he can. Bisch is like most wrestling podcasters. Cut through the self promotion and self congratulations and you find the honest slivers. Eric knows he got complacent once WCW got more popular. Tony got too big for his britches with all the IWC love he was getting. Now that he is getting criticized he isn't taking it well. And now he wants to act like he is taking on WWE in a war. Just run your company Tony. Hire a D'Amore to run ROH.

An easy solution that will never happen is taking care of the corporate side and having final say but not being involved-involved like he is now. That way he can't be in competition with anyone.

Besides, I wouldn't be sweating someone booking ROH better if I were him personally. The audience is tiny by comparison to AEW. No one's seeing it. Sure this place is full of people who watch everything but you are super in the bubble to think ROH even crosses the mind of most AEW fans (besides appearances by their champions), let alone fans of other major promotions.

Apparently Ospreay is pushing TK to hire D’Amore to run ROH.

This feels like so clearly the right idea that it'll never happen.

Well since we're all believing TK or somebody reads the board:

*ahem*

Hi, Tony. I know you get lots of grief at times but I and I'm sure many others here love you to bits. But if there is anybody in the world that can handle things the way you want them it's Scott D'amore. So pretty, pretty please consider signing him and you as well as us will rejoice. Thanks.

Yes I know this seems dumb as fuck and yeah it pretty much is. But I had a couple and as of right now don't give a shit.

So on that note last we saw Jeff he was injured by Sammy.  So two things I think about are 1.) Will Jeff join Matt in TNA and they both retire there and 2.) How long is Sammy's suspension going to last for?  He's been out for a while and unless there's injury something seems off here.  Only reason I can think of aside from that is maybe waiting for Tay to be in ring shape since I know she's been getting back into training.

Sammy is a new dad. I'm sure that they are using the suspension as well as family leave to keep him on the sidelines for a bit so he can come back fresh.

Who knows how accurate it is, but there was a report a couple of weeks back that his suspension was up but AEW didn't have anything for him to do so he was just sitting home.

1. Jeff Hardy goes to TNA.

2. Guessing the suspension is lifted but Sammy Guevara is not worth the hassle.

Total conjecture/speculation based on absolutely nothing:

After the backstage events of 2021-2022, there's a non-zero chance someone remembered Sammy's tasteless comment made about Mercedes years ago on a pod (which later became the subject of controversy when it was unearthed post-AEW formation) and said, "Hey, you know what? Let's not do this shit again"

With that said, I DO think he and Tay would be great assets if they did end up going the mixed tag route - I really enjoyed the brief period they defended the AAA titles on TV
