I like everyone involved, but IMO: keep Joe and Wardlow the hell away from each other!! Don't get me wrong, the matches were good, but their never ending feud over the TNT title this time last year with Hobbs in the mix kinda messed the trajectory up for all three to me. I'm not ENTIRELY opposed to revisiting, but I think Wardlow and Hobbs still need a sliiiiight bit of re-cooking-up before it should happen - purely my opinion

Quick edit: and to add to my last point, Id also posit that Hobbs is much further along than Wardlow is in that process at the current juncture, coming off that kick ass All Out match with Miro and publicly executing Jericho via spinebuster the other week

Enjoying the Toni Storm vignettes, but one pet peeve I have about them is that silent films did not have inter-title cards after every bit of dialogue. 90% of dialogue would be conveyed through acting and context clues. Most would attempt to have as few cards as possible, as they break up the flow of the movie. There were no character one mouths some words > card > character two mouths some words > card.

Don't think of them as silent movies, think of them as Sammy Guevara's Subterranean Homesick Blues gimmick if it was 10,000% better.

The cards are a hell of a lot better live in the arena too.

Oh, there will be another level to the Timeless Toni (and Luther) character on Friday.

This is strangely ominous

In other news: Just heard Rollins and Edge did a home invasion angle a couple of years ago that was similar to Swerve’s this week. I’d never seen it so I posted it below, I think Strickland’s is clearly better for threatening a baby and simply not being Seth Rollins

Ominous isn't the right word for it, sorry if I got hopes up! Just another fun dimension to the character and her relation to the wider women's division.

Like I said, live the Swerve home invasion angle was largely just seen as funny because of everyone wanting them to Rick James the couch.

I want an OG United Artists faction; Toni teams up with Serpentico doing a Douglas Fairbanks/Erroll Flynn swashbuckler gimmick where he’s swinging around on random ropes into walls.

Shit, now I want them to pair up one of the youngsters with Flair to do a "My Favorite Year" angle.

I think Ethan Page could grow the moustache and play an equally delusional Errol Flynn type.

What would be great eventually is to have her husband suddenly appear in full deranged muppet character.

I like Seth just fine (and have been guilty of singing that stupid song.  I'd say sue me but you wouldn't get much)  But there's no comparison to the cool-ass motherfucker that is Swerve Strickland.  It had a sense of psychological malice to it which was added by Nana not being fully on board with this when Swerve went in the baby room.  The shirt was amusing (along with thoughts of the couch) but there is going to be some serious bad blood to this feud.  I'm of the mindset that this was done to make Page a lot meaner than he was in the first match and also if Swerve beats him again there's absolutely no doubt that storyline-wise he took over the spot.  I really love it.

I’ve been out, did Rampage not already show?

I loved the Takeshita-Fletcher match (it was filmed first but maybe main event?), the finishing stretch really got the crowd rocking in particular. The Callis situation is interesting because no one actually wants to boo Takeshita when he’s wrestling someone that’s not like a Kenny Omega where he’s doing extra heel stuff. And we’re also mostly forming our opinions on Kyle Fletcher as a singles guy in AEW. I can say that if it didn’t come through, the crowd was very much wanting Fletcher to tell Callis to fuck off.

The four-way women’s match was more interesting to me for the Skye-Willow interactions and angle than the Abadon and Anna Jay stuff. I get why people like Abadon in theory but now that they aren’t running the full “zombie” biting scary thing, it doesn’t really work. 2023 Abadon is a mid-tier wrestler. They’re not bad, but the scary thing doesn’t really cut it when they’re just doing straight up wrestling. Anyway, Skye and Willow had some good exchanges and I’m looking forward to what they might do there.

Santana-Ortiz had a few moments where it felt like a legit fight and then the rest was a decent but nothing special brawl. They’re trying very hard to make this kayfabe personal feud make sense to the viewers but I don’t think it’s really working because it feels very fake.

This is all I remember from the live show. I don’t think there was a 4th match?

It just finished.

I walked in on Santana/Ortiz unfortunately. MIKE had on his Latin Kings colors. Nasty looking finish.

The women's match was, well, a multi-person match with all that entails, but ABADON WON!!! So I'm happy. Let's hope they don't put them back in mothballs after they lose tomorrow and Halloween happens on Tuesday. There was a spot for them to chop the ref "on accident" when they were all standing in a circle and I was disappointed they didn't do it. Willow is so cheery that the mist only gave her black eyeliner under one eye, heh heh. Why Toni didn't just come out after the opponents and before the bell instead of interrupting the match?

Takeshita/Fletcher got a full point as NOAH House Show Main Event. They did a rail ride so I'll count it. The best part was where Fletcher thought they were gonna do a forearm exchange, Lard Lad said "fuck that" and just hauled off and blasted the shit out of Young Kyle. Forearms/elbows were returned to later but they were nice and loud. Each guy threw and ate some murder moves, Takeshita worked default face and won. Fun stuff and once again the winner pleeeeased me... *rubs hands together with sinister glee*

As far as the Don Callis stuff, I doubt he gets all these guys that he wants, and he shouldn't. A buddy of mine in Indy had a show last night (he's the vocalist in death metal band Obscene) and he went onstage as Callis with blatantly phony rubber scar on his noggin. If he gives me permission, I'll show you pictures.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch Rampage yet but wanted to get this out there ASAP so people can plan: our fucking car died outta nowhere so we can't make it to the casino for Collision tomorrow - if anyone wants two tickets PM me!

Sorry to read this, mate. No other means getting there?

It must be close to Halloween if they are booking Abadon again.  Poor Anna Jay.  The Living Dead Girl still has her number.

Ortiz / Santana was a decent grudge match.  That finisher was showing signs of Psycho Driver but turned into kind of a Blue Thunder Bomb at the end, thank God.

I like the booking for Fletcher / Take-soup. Let the young lions fight it out and get that Alpha Male shit out of their system and then the evil guidance of Callis comes in to take command and calm things down.  If this is just the groundwork for Fletcher going baby, I hope that Mark Davis also turns baby.  I'd hate to see Aussie Open break up.

I'm just glad to see Abadon back and winning! Last year this time we got no Abadon for the season, so this is the first time on TV since the Halloween Deathmatch of 2021 with Britt which I loved. Tomorrow night's match with Shida is now being billed as a "Fright Night Fight"!  Abadon's AEW Debut on Dark was against Shida and I was a big fan of their first title match on Dynamite in early 2021, so I'm highly looking forward to this one.

YAY ABADON!
YAY LUTHER!

Also re: MJF's situation
Max needing to find three partners, although the obvious choice is The Acclaimed, the segment with Joe gave me an idea. Hear me out on this, all three want the same thing from him, a title match, could his three partners possibly be Joe/Omega/Wardlow?
