I went to Sailor Moon forums. I think I was a bit different than the rest of y'all.

I did both!!!

Young me wanted to be Sailor Mars and do running Liger Bombs.  (I really should have been Jupiter for that!)

Interesting bit from John Ourand’s latest column on cord-cutting’s impact on live sports programming:

Quote

The Warner Bros. Discovery networks had the biggest declines. For example, truTV, which carries March Madness games every year, has lost 4.639 million subscribers since the beginning of 2023. Similarly, TNT is down 3.083 million subscribers since January, and TBS is down 3.067 million.

Collision did a really good rating:

Even though I'm not a huge ratings guy, I am legitimately interested in what happens to Collision ratings next week, which will be the first time they go head to head with a WWE PLE. I mean I consider myself more a AEW than WWE fan but I'll be watching SummerSlam live and DVRing Collision. I'm not sure what a "good"  number would be directly against a PLE, its more a question on how far it will drop, not if it will drop.

Starks/Punk for the AXW title next week has been built well enough but you're right it will be interesting to see who tunes in. It won't be opposite Jey/Roman at that time of night so there could be fans that switch over for the main

Not sure if they're keeping MJF and Punk apart to not cloud the Cole angle but a little intrigue around suddenly having two world champions could bring in more eyes. Maybe something will happen on Dynamite

People I attribute Collision’s rating to:

Stroke Daddy Starks (duh).

Gunn Club Loud (as opposed to his brother, Gunn Club Tall).

The life size cardboard cutout Jay White.

Andrade and Budro Matts putting on a goddamn clinic.

MJF & FTR.

Yep, that’s everyone I credit that rating to.

Have fun, everyone! (show ruled, don’t care)

it’s always amusing to me that the fast nationals only getting reported (for AEW) when it’s a low number. Surprised it wasn’t Alfred Konuwa reporting this, tbh.

It also amuses me how an AEW TV show getting crushed going head to head vs WWE's second biggest show of the year in the middle of arguably it's hottest ever period is some sort of catastrophe/indictment of AEW.

That, and - UFC Fight Night and the Jake Paul fight.

Also, WBD doesn’t just look at the live rating and determine whether it’s a success or failure. It’s not 1998. I’m pretty sure it was only a few weeks ago they were touting AEW’s great numbers with DVR and Live +3/7.

But, hey, bad faith posters gonna bad faith.

Who’s excited for twice as much discourse about football ratings?!! Woo!

Time to acknowledge that half of AEW's audience are just football fans who only watch because it’s not football season?

Something that wouldn't fly today: Back in the early days of Raw, when it had to be WACKY and CRAZY, Rob Bartlett broke out a small, black and white TV, put right on top of his monitor, and just started watching. So he's flipping between like Gunsmoke and the Jerry Springer Show or Donahue (I couldn't quite make it out). And IIRC instead of being like "put that away", Vince and Randy Savage unintentionally start to watch along with him. The funniest part is while the camera is focused on the action in the ring (yes, this happened during an actual match), Vince is like, "...come on, that's NOT real...". The irony of Vince McMahon who is running 1993 WWF criticizing something on TV for being too phony is amazing.

Anyway, if Oklahoma is playing while JR has to work on Collision, he needs to do this. Between moves, we need to hear him be like, "Goddammit, ref!" in the background but he totally plays it off like he's watching the match.

TK should try to get a sponsorship with YouTube TV or Hulu or something and have JR watching on his phone.

I watched Summerslam live instead of Collision only because it would be easier to catch up with two hours (or more like 1:45 with the commercials cut) of wrestling than about four.

I watched summerslam live, thinking it might be over at like 8:30pst and I could just switch over to collision. Went way passed that so I just watched collision later.

That second week when collision got crushed was also the day of money in the bank. Even if people watched that one live, I’d think the typical wrestling fan isn’t going to watch more than one wrestling show in one day (unlike us).

I think the Saturday wwe ppvs are going to be stronger competition than college football in the fall.

I remember once on RAW they where promoting something, which involved Lawler being on his phone at the desk which lead to the inevitable “lawlers watching porn on his phone” jokes

Perhaps this has been part of the hold up for aew ppv coming to max (or perhaps not). They are planning to roll out a higher priced tier with sports content but haven’t figured out the details yet.

Here is a new article on the subject which states the Max sports tier will roll out in October with the mlb playoffs, and just in time for the nba and nhl seasons to start. Says a formal announcement could happen around Labor Day. Once again, no mention of aew but certainly worth keeping an eye on.
