  2. I had my appointment with Dr Eldridge last week who I'm predominantly seeing while Dr. Jundi is on maternity leave. My Trazodone has been increased. It was before but didn't work out. Hope it does this go round. I'm crap at making decisions. Dr Eldridge offered me a monthly appointment for three weeks or five. Picked three and regretted it ever since. I've tried to make it for five ever since but there's nothing with her. Five was best as it'd have given more time for the medicine to kick in and it was the last week before Christmas. I think speaking to her later in one of my trigger months would have been better. Should have asked if I could speak to her twice in December for that reason but I'm too timid to speak up if I want something. People say I'm too nice for my own good, speak and ask/defend myself. Started the increased Trazodone on Monday. Feeling dodgy. It's been a really rough time with a regrettably relapse of self-harm. Rang First Response and Samaritans as I was told when I was struggling, neither picked up. I was crying on the phone when I spoke to Ellie, my BEEP contact and Julie from Hope. Both were worried about me. Ellie asked if I can get to Eccleshill as she runs a weekend pilates class. It's further than the one I go to but I'm going to take up Ellie's offer. I like Ellie a lot. Kudos to Ellie reading my text seeing I was upset and ringing to check on me. What has really messed me up is realising that next month will be the ten year anniversary of Mum's last Birthday and last Christmas when she was alive, December 2013. Every year is a milestone - Birthdays, the anniversary of Mum's passing, Mother's Day, Christmases, each is important but some seem to have even more poignancy/weight to them. The first year, the fifth, the tenth, the twentieth etc. I need to remind myself that as much as I love and miss my Mum, least she's at peace now free from her many illnesses. What's also replaying in my mind is what Mum said to Laura shortly before we lost her and I understand how she felt. Thanks again to the DVDVR MB family for hearing me out, having my back. Can't put into words what it means to me. My much missed Mum's mantra was "As long as you try your best, that's all that counts." Please know I am. Love, Paul xxx.

  3. I'm a little upset that there was no Night One Upset. Maybe we'll get a Week One Upset. They were leaning pretty heavy into Garcia being a Dark Horse Underdog etc etc. I love Claudio, but I would pop pretty damned hard if he did the honours during the three-hour RampLision. Most boring and disappointing possible way to book the tournament, by a mile, would be to go chalk the whole way. Upper card guys and "big names" beating guys lower on the card, and fighting to a draw when they face one another. Please. No. That being said, I enjoyed every match on the show. Orange and Hook and Shibata is SUCH a nifty trios team! The Ruby Romance storyline is (surprisingly?) entertaining. Danhausen having THE HAT popped me. Everyone knows I love traditional hat-based psychology. "Where's your hat?" chant popped me... and paid off! Swerve's long-term selling was a highlight. For a second, I thought Tyrannosaurus Flex's new name was going to be "Unprettier" is Nick Wayne going to start fires now? While I really want a G1 type surprise upset, I am mostly just happy we are finally getting the E1/Super E Cup. I figure either Eddie or Bryan vs Jay or Swerve or Mox is the most likely final. Hard to be unhappy with any of those possible match-ups or possible AEW/NJPW Tertiary Triple Crown champions. I guess Lethal vs Garcia is the least likely finals match-up, and it's not like that would stink. (Insert graphics here later) I am thinking of printing those out and filling them in just for the nostalgia. Also: three people in a row quoting me without giving me a like has to be some kind of record

  8. Menard's ceiling as an in-ring performer is likely not a whole lot higher than where he's currently at. That said, there's a lot of upward mobile guys who could certainly benefit from his ability with the microphone. Off the top, Wardy comes to mind. But then again, what a treat it would be to get him back at the desk calling matches. I watched a lot of Dark matches I wouldn't have due to Dad Magic's color commentary.

  14. It's four corner survival night. The women's one was way short but everyone got a little bit of shine, the tag one was fun with Jorel Nelson & Royce Isaacs looking impressive despite being the only non-ROH team and not getting an entrance, almost looked like they could win but I'm glad to see the WorkHorsemen pick up a win. The men's 4 way shocked me with a nice Big Shotty win, thought for sure Willie Mack was winning that one. Shibata vs Trent made a solid opener along with the Ethan/Nese rematch and their feud continuing and Yuta/Moriarty in pure rules. Surreal to see Ronda Rousey on the Honor Club. I was sad they overdubbed her music though. Surprised they acknowledged/showed footage of the Revolver match, I thought that was a no contest but they said here DQ. Thought the match was an absolutely fantastic main event. Great back and forth all throughout. Ronda looked excellent and like she was having a blast the whole time, thought everyone here shined. Loved the double teams, thought Marina's slingshot into Ronda's piper's pit move could've been the finish and Billie/Athena's gory bomb into double knees looked good. Billie's Swanton while Ronda had Athena in the armbar ruled. Figured when Athena was going up that Billie was going to tag herself in and cost them the match, but a great finisher overall in leaving it open that Athena seemingly had Ronda beat with the O-Face originally. This was a lot of fun and I'm definitely down for more Ronda of Honor.

  22. Catching up with Dynamite. Loved the finish in the trios match with Hook & Shibata trading off opponents for their submissions and Orange leaping through the center for the Punch. The Continental Classic is off to a great start. Moxley/Briscoe was my favorite and thought the extended overrun added a feeling of importance to things, good stuff.

  25. He's only had 3 winning seasons out of 13. And again, those were the prime MVP Cam years. His record outside of those 3 seasons is 64-87-2. So without a superhuman-level MVP, he's shit.

  31. Leg day and this really fucked me up good. Started with seated leg curls and really exploded through the concentric. I was doing 130 before and doing sets of 10-12, but they got pretty sloppy by the last 2-3 reps pretty much always (even the first set). Did 110 instead and got 3x12-13 with better form throughout. Then I went for leg presses, and my left knee is finally paying the price for it again. 3x9x135 per leg with slow control on the negative. From there to belt squats so my quads had nothing left to give. It didn't take much. Even more slow control on the negative for 3x10x140 and they were just pain. Did some calves in the leg press machine again, 3x16x185 with 3-second holds at the bottom of every rep, think I only got 14 on the last set because the pain was a lot. Then front-foot-elevated lunges in the Smith machine, 3x8x50 with 1 riser in addition to the step (it's one of those plastic dealies where you can pile up however many pairs of risers under the step itself). My quads had nothing left to give at that point anyway, so my glutes were fuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Which of course is also the point. I still don't know why lunges absolutely wreck my whole system so much, but they do. I don't think I'm going to move again for a season. Oh no, wait, the gym is only open till 3 PM tomorrow. Gotta do Push day, and some abs. On Thanksgiving. Fuck.

  36. I think the original plan was for Punk to lose this way to MJF to end the X belt story, Punk got fired, Jay got slotted into Punk's place, but Jay can't afford to lose this way while Punk could. Hopefully there's a good Kiwi rehab center near Jacksonville.

  38. Yeah, hell of a PPV, here! Zero Hour was also very good, obviously very excited to get Claudio vs Matthews. Need to watch ladder match and women's three way again, as I missed parts due to nodding off. Texas Death Match sure lived up to expectations. I had a feeling Swerve would win, since Page kinda already got his revenge before, and got his pound of flesh for sure here as well. I was glad that the Bucks v Jets tag didn't try to follow that by upping the crazy violence. It was what it needed to be and got good by the end. Surprised that Jericho and Kenny actually won. I liked how the main event was also very story-heavy, while still having some crazy spots. I can see how this may look bad for Jay White, but the guy has been protected so far, if one loss undoes all that, well, OK then. If Roddy was as good a friend to Adaaaam he claims he is, wouldn't he have tried to stop Cole from trying to compete injured and risk further injury, because that would be a really stupid thing to do? Yet, he's nowhere to be seen! Oh, and Will Ospreay signing now was a relief, so I don't have to worry he will choose WWE instead. Does anyone know if Ospreay's current theme is available on Spotify? I need it for my gym playlist! ...nevemind! It's "Elevated" by It Lives It Breathes

  39. I'm not a mod, but I can't imagine expressing anger at a booking decision is enough to get you a time out. Maybe don't actually kick Tony Khan in the nuts, though, should you ever have the opportunity.

  40. I'm super biased, I'm probably the biggest Jay White fan on here. Been all in on him since his NJPW match with Hangman where they both figured it out at the same time, followed by the Cow Palace match with Juice. The one piece of wrestling merch I feel ok displaying in my place is from Jay. (It's also the one piece I have in my actual name) So I'm not just pissed, I feel the same way I felt during the Roman wins LOL Rumble. I know some of this is personal, but this was so fucking stupid and it hurt my favorite wrestler. If TK reads this, I want him to know that I want to kick him in the nuts for this match, though I will forgive him eventually if things turn around. This is legit the angriest I've felt as a wrestling fan ever, which I know is irrational as hell, but it hurt watching this, especially since there was like 8 to 10 different ways to have a more logical ending to this- the easiest being Joe saves MJF to save his title shot. I understand if I get a vacation due to this, I probably deserve it, but it's how I feel. I've been around this board and previous iterations 25 years or so, and this is the first time I've posted something like this. I wonder if it's ok to feel this way?

  41. I’ll review the actual ppv later, but right now I just want to say that in 1996 my dad took me to the Omni for my first wrestling show. It was Nitro. Sting wrestled on that show. Last night, my dad, my son and I sat together and watched Sting on pay per view. My son, who’s 3, loves to yell “big boys fight!!!” during the show. It was a blast.

  42. I'm arguably more concerned about where Hangman goes from here, rather than Jay White. Guy broke into his home, threatened his kids, and then beat his ass in a Texas Death Match. Not sure what the stipulation you use to give Hangman closure here, or what you do with him if you rightly give Swerve his title shot. That was a great match, but the ending bothered me, and I liked his match with Mox better. If Cole's the devil, Jay is either the number two babyface aggrieved at being attacked, or he sides with Cole and is number two heel. Can't win. Probably better to take the six man titles, take two steps back, and slowly rebuild over the new year. Jay vs Juice has potential. I can see both sides of the "I paid $30 for this, no devil, wtf?" and the "lets drag this out further" debate. There's plenty of notes left in this story to play out - Joe's title shot (which realistically spoiled the outcome of the main event), whatever Wardlow has planned, the Acclaimed's return etc. I also echo the sentiments that they seem to not be quite sure what they're doing with it and having to adjust on the fly. Does Adam Cole want Jay White to win after he attacked him initially? Is he sabotaging Max, but to what end, if not to win the title himself? I think they missed an opportunity with White's chyron stating he was the Interim AEW Champion, which would go a long way to explaining away why Max didn't just hit him with the ring and DQ himself, and leave the title match to another time when he was healthy. MJF losing the Champion's Advantage is probably an interesting storyline arc that holds together the 1998 fuckery that it was. Not a huge fan of Toni Storm's new gimmick. Could have quite easily just been left at "crazy woman who throws a shoe" but has awkwardly added this overlay of 1920s film star without any real connection to anything. The whole "watch this old movie to see exactly how this upcoming angle will turn out" approach seems ....ehh as much as that for the great character work she's done out of the ring, she hasn't really changed her in-ring style to match what is being shown. Can we have a moratorium on multi-man ladder matches? They're just unnecessary ways for guys to get seriously hurt. The bar of "do something no one else has done in one of these before" is now definitely at "dangerously stupid", and theres no point, because no-one remembers these matches in a month. Hey, remember when that guy from Top Flight snapped his leg in one a few months back? Even the crowd seemed dead for it except for reacting to the aftermath of spots in the way one would to Jackass. Looking forward to the eventual OC/Hook, this tournament has real potential (and a great way of getting rid of the ROH title?).

  43. The booking of the main event was bad, but if I got to book my own angles I'd probably book myself like '88 Hogan, too. I think Brody King actually had the gnarliest bladejob of the night. Goddamn, that deathmatch was awesome.

  44. Kingston/Lethal was fine. I've never been much of a Jay Lethal fan but he does well in a JTTS role. Interested to see where Ortiz re-aligning himself with Eddie goes. Sometimes you can just tell two guys decided they'd just go out and lay into eachother and figure out how to make it look good as they went. Claudio and Matthews compliment eachother so well. They're both really physical wrestlers with Matthews being the faster of the two and Claudio is one of the better bases for guys like that. Give me a best of seven series between these guys. There wasn't anything wrong with the ROH tag title match but I thought The Gunns could have used the rub here. I get they're going for the uneasy champions pairing with Joe and MJF (assuming Joe is actually his partner and officially the champ?) but the Ass Boys would be a good fit as champs in ROH. I wasn't really a fan of MJF getting stretchered out as the whole "injured face comes back from the local medical facility all banged up and still manages to win" trope annoys me. Well, nobody turned on Sting Cassidy/Moxley was definitely a match between the two. Mark Briscoe is in the Not G8 and he's continental AF Shida's Jushin Liger gear was pretty cool. Toni managed to balance her comedy bits with a lot of overall good wrestling and the match was decent and marred by a really dumb finish. I don't mind Toni winning via shenanigans but the metal gimmick was just barely still in her tights and plainly visible during the bump. An AEW ppv has a ladder match because of course it does. I cringed when Black and Dralistico took piledrivers on ladders but other than that there wasn't as much absurdity as some of the other ladder matches have had. I'm here for Skye's new look. She always had such natural upbeat babyface energy I didn't think she'd work as a heel, but then again Julia Hart started off as a cheerleader. This was the best match of the night at this point. While I like Julia having a title, I really liked Stat as champ. Osprey being signed didn't really come off as that big a of a deal to me considering he's been there a few times before and clearly had some type of working agreement already. Damn, Swerve caught an absolute gusher in there. Most of the garbage matches in AEW have either been comical or just poorly executed and pale in comparison when you actually watch deathmatches regularly, but this actually delivered. The barbed wire spots actually looked painful and had some decent innovation (the arm trap SOS slam and moonsault). It was a bit odd not to see the face win after all the shit Swerve has done, but I'm fine with it as long as it leads to Swerve moving up the card. The cooler tag match went way too long, or at least seemed to with the four guys doing their usual shit-in-getting. The Young Bucks went full heel by the end which suits them better. MJF stole an ambulance and hobbled to the ring. Despite selling to the point he could barely walk throughtout the match, MJF and White still have a competitive bout. I get MJF is desperate and pulling out whatever he can to save his title and fight off the pain, but the multiple high spots and MJF more than holding his own for 20+ minutes made it hard to really get into. The longer this went on and more dog and pony show bits that kept going on (Cole teasing the towel, ref bump, belt shots, run ins, etc) put a damper on it for me. Jay White looked like a wuss because he couldn't beat a guy with one leg even when cheating and the match was overbooked to hell. I kept thinking that Cole was going to reveal he was faking his injury and he was The Devil all along, but no, no payoff to that storyline yet. Swerve/Page and the women's three way were my favorites of the night. Overall this was not one of their stronger PPVs.

  46. If we have any kaiju fans here, I just wanted to let everyone know that Godzilla Minus One is the best Godzilla movie since the original, and I loved it. I saw the US premiere in LA, and it was spectacular. Shin Godzilla was more of a political satire. This is a post-WWII drama mixed with a disaster movie. Great reset for the franchise, and it actually nails the human story. See this movie opening day.
