[Facendavoice] held in check all afternoon and in serious danger of being shut out, but the referees, like all great players, save their best efforts for the biggest moments [/Facendavoice]3 points

Can't do gin anymore. The worst drunk I've ever been was after a night of drinking exclusively gin. I threw up in a washing machine. I did find a whole baked potato in my jacket pocket when I got home, so the night wasn't a total wash. But if I smell gin now, I am instantly transported to standing over that washing machine. I stick with whiskey, Caesers, beer, and fun fruity drinks now.3 points

One thing Khan did say in the last 24 hours or so is that the Bloomberg Businessweek article that came out last week has led to a spur of interest from sponsors/business partners, etc. So we'll see if we get a Pitch Black match in AEW too.3 points

it pains me to post this: the official Tecmo Super Bowl 2023 prediction. the Chiefs absolutely demolished the Eagles. just ate their lunch, and came back for dinner too. i've never seen such a one-sided affair. Chiefs effectively used a combination of running and passing to rack up the points, while their defense absolutely just stifled the Eagles. shout out to Neil Smith, who had 11 sacks! this is one time i hope the prediction is wildly wrong.3 points

With respect to any 12-steppers or edgers, GIN IS WIN. Tbh even a Gordons and Schweppes can be decent. Adding some cocktail bitters can make a difference when working with a lower-quality gin. I favour Bitter Truth's Tonic Bitters but a lot of things work. Personally I've got a bottle of Bulldog on the go - flying between UK and EU regularly gives you access to some cheap bots. (I tried Seattle's Big Gin a few years ago, it hit the spot) Tequila...yeah it's been a while. There's actually a 'Listening Bar' specialising in mezcal near where I stay when in Budapest and the prices are borderline sensible so yeah maybe I'll try that soon.3 points

Just finished Andor. Loved it as much as most others seem to. Stories of the early rebellion are particularly interesting to me, Rebels for instance is one of my favourite Star Wars stories. Reading back on the comments here, I was surprised by the dislike of Syril. The mother was a bit much at times, but I liked seeing someone from the Empire from that view. They're pretty much always just portrayed as the uniform they wear. Give me more mundane officers dealing with demotions, I guess. Plus, him and Dedra gave me Kirtan Loor and Ysanne Isard vibes3 points

We don't have a ton of Froelich and a lot of what we have are little clips from 67 Australia with bad VQ but you can really get a sense of how good he was at moving in the ring from this 81 PNW match with Borne, even though he was into his 40s:2 points

RIP Eric Froelich. He was probably the first technical/European-style wrestler I ever saw, at the Vancouver All Star showsxtaped at BCTV studios when I was a little kid. By all accounts he was a guy with legit skills and an even better person than he was a wrestler . https://slamwrestling.net/index.php/2023/02/11/eric-froelich-dead-at-85/2 points

I'd suggest staying well rid of tequila. Gin I got into during our trips to Edinburgh, but that will need a proper tonic to go with it. But neither are something your life will be richer for, after having tasted. Not lying though when I say that Gin and Tonic has made more than a few Dynamites last year seem even more enjoyable than they probably were.2 points

Preshow was fun, Natalia Markova is a showstealer every time no matter where she is on the card. Kerry/Taylor ended up very good. Kratos with an insane bladejob, that was nuts, but really put over this match as a bigger grudge match with that kind of visual. Legit shocked to see The Renegade Twins become champs! They looked great as usual. Cool moment, thought this would be a foregone conclusion loss coming off them winning on Powerrr to get the shot here so that was unexpected. Both teams are awesome. EC3/Kiley was rather disappointing. Was hyped to see Kiley back as he was one of my absolute favs in his WWE run 10+ years ago, but this didn't live up to much. Kiley wrestling in generic street clothes was weird and made him look a lot older, his entrance was strangely subdued. Was shocked that he attempted an over the top dive that didn't go too well. Still hope he can get back in the mix over time. Adonis/Murdoch was short and solid, surprised but glad to see Adonis get the clean win. Kamille's matches are almost always my favorite on these shows, this was a fun brawl with a great finish, also popped for her hitting the Coast to Coast. I love Kamille's epic title run and happy to see it keep going. Kamille coming dressed for a street fight was a nice touch. Main event was a fun cluster of interference and ref bumps. Tyrus working babyface fighting from underneath was different and surprising to actually hear the crowd behind him in the end. NWA Nuff Said PPV full results2 points

NOAH coined NOAH-Ism few years ago. They always tried to avoid the Royal Road term. Since CyberFight there is some Inoki-ism and old elements of Strong Style in NOAH and some of those old elements that not even current NJPW uses. The style and booking recently somewhat changed again these past few months. Another term they used was Misawa-ism during the last decade before the previous buy out. DDT was using the term the Main Road, so the basic Royal Road mixed up with the DDT's previous indy style. Some in DDT reject the Main Road and are less of it in kayfabe too. NJPW, AJP, NOAH, DDT and more all share the Royal Road match build or build to the bigger moves over time passed. The old Showa fight like build that NJPW kept for longer died out many years ago. NJPW however still does the spottier spots of NJPW 90's.2 points

Pretty classic NWA traveling champ booking tonigt. Islam wins the decision. Volk finishes the fight on top. Now we got some heat for Yair/Volk. Islam vs. Poirier doesn"t interest me at all. I honestly don't know what does.2 points

After reading in that article about his rivalry with Brady and how Brady was regularly a dick to him, this makes me feel better:2 points

and that makes it 0 - 16 for the 49ers' opponents in their next game this year. I feel a little better now1 point

Mentai is OK. Came out of the Toryumon system. Kind of create-a-wrestler-ish in that he doesn't have any truly signature moves. Hasn't hurt anyone with his 450 splash as far as I know. Kids in Kyushu love him though so he always has support from the crowd. Haven't watched any of his recent tag stuff but his matches with Genkai over the title might be better examples than a match with TAJIRI.1 point

I want Baliyan Akki and Mei Suruga on Dynamite every Wednesday please and thank you. Let the Outrunners get some more seasoning and hopefully find their footing on the mics and they could be the next Acclaimed. Fun tag team that the crowd gets behind.1 point

They're THE YOUNGEST MEN EVER (Also ABSOLUTELY love S.A.P.s theme song) And we had so much SING ALONG WITH TAZZ this week! Truly two great episodes of Dark this week!1 point

i had it 48-47 Volk, but will freely admit that (1) i've been drinking for hours, and (2) a lot of those rounds were super close. both men came out looking better, and that is SUPER rare when it comes to MMA bouts. no argument over the decision, i look forward to Volk/Yair and Islam/whoever.1 point

We are in the "no losers" segment of the fight. That's always neat.1 point

I’m a little buzzed but The Outrunners are fucking great and also to me 100% proof that AEW reads DVDVR and even throws us a bone occasionally.1 point

I am going to catch up on Dynamite tonight. I am sure the big matches on there are better, but I voted for OC/Lee because that was another OC banger that told an impeccably tight story in a way that only he can.1 point

Lacey Evans needs to take over the women’s division. She was already solid to start with but this nasty boot camp trainee gimmick is great. She is laying things in nasty on local talent. I want to see her and Bianca or her and Becky lay into each other for 10 minutes.1 point

There definitely is security footage. Irvin said he hadn't seen it yet though. His claim on the lawsuit was all about "cancel culture". I dunno, maybe I'm just a cynic, but that immediately makes me question his claims.1 point

Surprised that Don Coryell wasn't in the Hall of Fame already. Granted he wasnt a very successful playoff coach but extremely innovative coach and could argue one of the coaches responsible for turning the NFL into a passing league Good seeing Chuck Howley and Joe Thomas in there. Thomas has to be top 10 in greatest players in last 20 years that was on terrible teams.1 point

Been a really rough few weeks with the depression particularly this Tuesday/Wednesday not helped with technology issues and especially Dad/Laura having loud arguments constantly. Thought I'd have to ring First Response on Wednesday, it was that bad. My body aches with the Cerebral Palsy also. Had a mental health S-H relapse. Dr Jundi, my doctor told me she's pregnant and I'm really chuffed for her. It's going to be different when Dr Jundi goes on leave because I've spoken to her every month since October 2019. Dr Wright from 2011-2019 before she left. I know at some point I'll have to go at it without healthcare help and that makes me nervous. Been seeing Deborah at My Wellbeing College who does a blend of counseling/CBT, the latter I've had to try to jump through hoops to get despite Dr. Gupta/Dr. Wright/Dr. Jundi all say that's what I need. Takes a lot to open up to someone and for the confidant to hear such things. Once something's said, you can't bottle it back up. Depression sucks, a daily battle of the brain. Provisionally signed up to a gym scheme as one is 15 minutes away from my house but I have to have my induction elsewhere as I'm a level 4. I asked if it could be at Shipley explaining I don't travel well with the CP but no. Going to make it clear I'm going to the site of my induction once for that reason. Don't like Megan who I'm assigned to at BEEP either. Disinterested and looks a mixture of Mick Hucknall/Rebekah Brooks I can't unsee. I'll see if I go through with it. I just love, miss, pine my loved ones I've lost. My much missed Mum, my Grandad who was like a second Dad to me, Lisa/GG, my pets particularly all three dogs: Tess, Rayven, Ralfie. Feel like a failure at things as well but that's the depression disease talking. Thanks for reading xxx.1 point

I used to work with a guy who did some work on Poffo's ICW tv tapings in Lexington, KY. He used to hang out a bit with Savage and the other guys. I always remember him telling me that Lanny's girlfriend at the time was really attractive and both she and Lanny were pretty "flexible". I think his exact quote was (apologies), "Oh, a bunch of us would've paid good money to watch them fuck." This dude was the most mild-mannered, chill guy, so hearing him say that was pretty hilarious.1 point

RIP Leaping Lanny. Around 2005-6 I was on the phone talking to someone when I got a beep on the other line. I excused myself to check it out and when I did I was stunned. ”Hello, this is Lanny Poffo for VISA.” There was no mistaking that voice. Me: “Lanny Poffo… the fucking wrestler?” Once a Masshole always a Masshole. He chuckled a bit and said “Wellllll… I’m over 50 now so I don’t leap so high anymore and I work for VISA so I’m not a Genius. But yes sir, it’s me”. I was just tripping out on how convinced I was it was him because THAT VOICE! He later mentioned working for VISA on some podcast a few years later. We talked for 10 minutes or so about wrestling. Never once mentioned Macho. Then when we said our goodbyes. He thanked me for remembering him and never even tried to sell me a credit card. Peace brother.1 point
