here's an easy way to tell which one is more likely true: Not The One Bruce Pritchard Said5 points

Little anecdote I heard during weigh in's yesterday that I think only us rasslin' fans would appreciate: The guy said he was talking to "AEW Star" Jeff Cobb and mentioned Yoel Romero was fighting. Jeff Cobb said he did some wrestling training with Yoel a while back, but Cobb doesn't keep up with MMA. Jeff Cobb said "So he's fighting for the HEAVYWEIGHT title?" Guy: "No no no... he's at 185" Jeff Cobb: "How is that possible?"4 points

This conversation highlights how stupid it was to announce the match for the sake of announcing a cool match. They should've gotten to the destination organically kayfabe-wise. The Newark show was sold out at that point, was it not? I appreciate they want to create these destination episodes of Dynamite between PPVs. It's a great idea. But we all know having gimmick matches just 'cause it's that time of year or just 'cause fucking sucks. They need to be better than this and the Archer bait and switch. I hope they never do anything like this again.4 points

It would be nice to see o'Neil/Adams & Englehart/Rogers as inspiration as a change instead of Miller and modern grim n gritty stories.3 points

Pillman Jr. is so basic in the ring, and his mechanics are very off. He needs a trip to the New Japan dojo one day to hopefully to fix his issues. But I’ll say this, he carries himself like a star.2 points

If you follow his podcast w/ Conrad you hear the evolution of Tony falling back in love with wrestling. In regards to JR - I'm watching Wrestlewar 92 right now. Jesse & JR on commentary - and it's night and day how much JR has lost a step or two. He also only made less than 6 football references the whole show - and half of those was for his argument with Jesse over the nonsense of Brian Pillman being a nose tackle when Ron Simmons was also a nose tackle. ?2 points

Bigger paydays probably help too. He's also received a tonne of positive feedback from the fans. Everything's coming up, Schiavone.2 points

Are you ever shocked to see what the demo mode will produce when you leave the start menu up? Like Vader Vs. AZM in a exploding deathmatch.2 points

Lance isn’t that boring. Why, I bet he, even today would be the 503rd best wrestler in the world.2 points

Lance Storm gets a lot of shit about being boring, but I always enjoyed watching him. He worked an athletic, technical style that could adapt to almost anyone. I always thought as long as he was working that style he was great, but they were forever putting him in positions to brawl or swing a chair and shit just fell apart.2 points

Storm told a story about working with Morrus at that time. Hugh was going through some head injury stuff and the WCW doctor kept saying, "look, you can't let that guy keep kicking you in the head every night." Morrus was like, "You do know he's not actually kicking me right? There's a reason I'm in there with Lance and not someone else right now."2 points

That's a really good point. Maybe if this film wasn't called "Joker" I would have been more empathetic. The problem is you know from the first frame of the film exactly what he's going to become, so it's hard to see him as a sympathetic character. Specifically because of prior knowledge of the character, at least this filmgoer saw him pretty much as the Joker already. I don't think it was entirely my fault as a viewer, either. The creators of the film were so heavy handed with his craziness -- see his John doe in Seven notebook in the film's second scene -- that it was hard to empathize rather then see him as a guy who already had this in him and nobody saw the signs. I mean come on, the main passage in his book, which his therapist read, is grounds for involuntary committal. So yeah, sorry if I came across as unsympathetic to anybody's issues other than those of Arthur Fleck, but selling me a homicidal maniac's origin story and going this hard from the get go, while hoping the audience has sympathy for mental illness, is trying to have it both ways. As someone who has dealt with some shit myself, I also don't think mental illness should be portrayed as a zero sum game where if things don't work out for the sufferer, then murder is the only outlet. But without the simple and insulting story of "crazy person is mistreated so he kills some people," we wouldn't have a movie. Simplistic, insulting plot wrapped in a veneer of cynicism (young people really do mistake cynicism for wisdom), gussied up by pretty shots and a great performance by a generational actor.2 points

The BattleHawks (Ka-KAW) have announced they are opening the upper deck for their week 7 game. If it wasn’t a Saturday, aka a day I work, I would attend. Oh, there opponent that day? LA. Whoever decided LA should go to St. Louis season one was brilliant.2 points

My favorite Ron Simmons story is when someone noticed that the Steiner Brothers were always fucking with the other wrestlers in the locker room, but they left him alone. I forget who told the story, but they went up to Ron, and asked, "The Steiners are always fucking with people, why don't they fuck with you?" Ron looked him dead in the eye and said, "because I'm unfuckwithable." He apparently wasn't joking. Another fun fact, that I may or may not have just made up...Black Dynamite is a Ron Simmons biopic.1 point

Despite his political leanings, I think Colby says shit to trigger crowds. He has a MAGA persona just like Mayweather has his Money$ persona. Colby wants asses in seats and a buy rate for his fights so that he can ultimately get paid. I think Joanna says dumb shit because she legit thinks dumb and insensitive things. At this moment, I am not sure which one is worse.1 point

It's an.angle. They're going to keep announcing then delaying his debut until he finally comes out dancing to a disco song with a couple backup dancers. It worked so well for Brodus Clay....1 point
