  3. The fantasy booking of Bobby Heenan in the attitude era makes me sad because he would have been gold in whatever role he was in. He would have easily been better than Lawler at being the heel color man. It would have been cool to have Bret and Heenan make amends during the '97 Hart Foundation run. Bret could have admitted that Bobby was right all along about the humanoids. He would have fit as one of Vince's stooges in the corporation. I'm sure Bobby got paid an obscene amount of money from WCW, and I'm glad he got health insurance from them, and was able to be close to his daughter at college, but WCW wasted his talent, but that was par for the course for WCW. It was a no brainer that he should have been in the nWo. He certainly could have filled Bischoff's spot better than Bischoff did.

  4. Heenan would have been smart enough to have Haku and the Barbarian lurking somewhere nearby just in case. He wasn't "The Brain" for no reason.

  6. I mean... this is a pro wrestling message board, and WWE--as you say--does a lot wrong. So of course people would find things to complain about, or suggest could be improved. But I think it's also pretty clear that people are happy to celebrate when things are done well. The question is really just the difference between "strong" and "done well". That is, Nak has been booked as strongly as he should be, but not as well as he should be. Both can be true, because--I think--both are. Good writing is more nuanced than choosing winners and losers--if it weren't, WWE would be a lot more consistent in getting people the degree of over they desire. Anyway, this stuff is hard and people will react differently and enjoy different things to different degrees, and we will talk about it here because that's what this is for.

  16. I just read tat America's Got Talent was renewed for a 13th season. Jesus Christ. I mean, it's not surprising, but still. I watched a season or two when Stern was hired to be a judge because I like his radio program, but, seeing buts and pieces of AGT now, I feel like a moron for ever getting fleeced by this dumb show. It's absolutely a work, start to finish. It hit me when I saw the judges freaking out over a mentalist act, and I said, "why are they surprised by this guy? It's the same act from back when I used to watch." The it hit me, it's the same acts every damn year and every year they act just so amazed and blown away. And it's a fucking sob story vignette before every act. God damn I hate TV. Burn it all down.

  17. I can easily see it actually. I can see Heenan playing a Lawler-esque stooge for McMahon and taking digs at Steve Austin every chance he got. I imagine Heenan having great chemistry with Mr. McMahon.

  18. I'm starting to like the show again (mildly). Roster is getting interesting again after they sort of gutted it to push a bunch of Jarrett cronies. Morrison and Taya are both solid additions. Digging Taya's heelery. Speaking of which, are they a couple? I don't pay attention to backstage news so I have no idea if Morrison/Melina are still a thing. Are Morrison/Taya a couple.? She seems to show up in the same promotions using him. Is that just a coincidence?

  26. Just via Meltzer ratings: vs. Styles, Summerslam and Backlash were both 3.75 MitB '17 was 4.5 (aforementioned) vs. Reigns, Rumble '17 was 4.5 Survivor Series '16 tag match was 4.5 vs. Rollins at HitC '16 was 4. vs. Zayn at Battleground '16 was 4.5. And it goes on from there. I know it's "cool" to think he's a bad wrestler because he had a "bad" title reign (which is also debatable), but don't be willfully ignorant. KO can bring it.

  27. Speaking of the game being mostly dead... Hey! I was only missing two Remnant puzzles! I must've gotten tunnel vision during the sad mission on Eos where you find the scientist that was killed by Remnant before she starved to death in that Assembler factory. I did not stick around long enough to locate the console behind the Gravity Well activation point and me being Level 64 meant that the Destroyer guarding the puzzle locked loot chest went down pretty fast. If I'd had tried to take out that Destroyer and solve that puzzle at the stage of the game when I was trying to complete that particular mission, I'd probably have gotten my ass kicked. The other puzzle was located on Havarl and I am still shocked that I never noticed that cave before and I have searched nearly every nook and cranny of that map looking for shit. Cryptography rare achievement unlocked. I am one of the 0.67% of gamers who have gotten that achievement. I am an idiot. Yeah, I didn't feel like waiting. I had over 130K Creds to spend, so I burned 6K to respec Ryder and distribute his points so that I could unlock the Full Power achievement. I'm kinda glad I did because now my Biotic hybrid profiles aren't lagging that far behind now. That Kett son of a bitch hijacked the Hyperion and took my sister hostage. What a fucking douche coward! Endgame was the firefight and showdown I should've gotten in ME3. Nice and big and epic and plenty of callbacks and stuff. Infiltrator Scott is specced for violence against shields and synthetics, so the Archon coming at me with a Remnant army was a bad idea. Cora's Shield Boost was specced to regen health and shields so we weren't in too much danger from wiping out, even though the fucking Architect made defending zones pretty hazardous. I was bummed that I did not personally get to put a bullet into the Archon's skull, but dead is dead and that's good enough for me. The obligatory ominous cutscene with the Primus felt hollow as we'll never get that match booked unless I get to smoke her punk ass during the Epilogue. Besides, she's an Ascendant and I have killed a half dozen of her kind before. Kicking the Primus's ass can't be that hard. I finally got to play as Sara in this playthrough and all I get to defend myself is a Phalanx with no mods and one solitary general issue frag grenade? Why don't I get three powers? Where is my fucking rifle? At least I finally learned what that Reboot The Pathfinder shit was all about. Epilogue has me going back to Habitat 7. Scott is Level 67 now and I am sure the scenario won't last long enough to get me enough EXP to get all my profiles to Rank 6, so I'm looking at a partial New Game+ to unlock the High Performance achievement. I also have to get in enough of a partial playthrough as Biotic Sara to knock out Trapshooter, Sucker Punch, and Fast Ball, but that shouldn't last too long. I've unlocked the rare achievement for completing three romances, so I don't have to worry dealing with another million game hours just to get Sara laid. I think I am still missing one or two models for my wall in the captain's quarters. Don't really care. Sad because I used to care about shit like that. Fuck you, EA Bioware.. Not sure what is more annoying about my final interview: that I only got +50 EXP, that you can't complete it until the epilogue, or that the dialogue makes me feel like a shit because I am giving the impression that I am sneaking around on Cora with Keri... Next up is the epilogue on Habitat 7 and that will conclude the long and drawn out process that was Playthrough Number One.. Holy fuck, I am like 27 points away from an APEX Rating of 21K. One more Disappointment Pack probably would've given me enough weapon or character upgrades to put me over, but I had to grab a shower and get to the office for this early meeting. I misread the CR rankings though. Melraz is DVDVR Numero Uno Hombre with a CR close to 22K, but I am slowly gaining on him.. I only pay attention to that stuff when it matters. Biotics can only combo against unshielded and unarmored opponents unless they are under the effect of an Annihilation Field or are close to a Singularity, so rolling into a Combo-Tastic match with mostly Biotic characters can be a bad time. I still have nightmares about that one Weekend Gold APEX Mission on the cool Remnant map where the squad brought four squishy Biotic characters into the match and we and got our asses handed to us. If we're going into a Combo-Tastic match and I notice that the other players are loading up on Biotic characters, I either play a Tech character, or I play a character with a lot of detonator powers like a Human Sentinel or the Asari Huntress.

  31. It has just enough time travel gobbledygook for me and just enough love story for my boo to watch it with me without being bored out of her mind. Dr. Tom Creo spanning centuries and dimensions in the attempt to cure his beloved wife's cancer sets a high fucking bar for us male significant others. It is the ultimate answer to Janet Jackson's musical question, "What have you done for me lately?"

  33. So on the one hand I get the idea that Jinder is a hypocrite for complaining about jingoistic Americans booing him and then he turns around and makes racist remarks about Nakamura. And I understand he's a heel, and I understand the history of racist gimmicks in pro wrestling. On the other hand, as an Asian dude in America I have to deal with low key racism on an almost daily basis and sometimes I just want to drink a beer and watch some grappling and not think about that stuff and I'm really sick of this shit showing up in my wresting when I just want to chill out after work. So fuck this company.

  35. I don't think I can cover all the bullshit in the show. I'll focus on two things. Jinder Mahal. Yes, it's a flop at this point no defending the title reign. But this promo, not going to blame him. This is either Vince or Road Dogg or both. No excuses. No 1980s excuses of "it was a different time" and all that shit. "ROOK". Really? In 2017? And Mr. Miyagi references? Really? This is the fucking best you dumb motherfuckers can do? to get heat? Fuck. Then there's Dolph Ziggler. Fucking Dolph Ziggler. Why? Also, who the fuck cares about DX acting like teenagers when they were old? It was ELEVEN YEARS AGO. If he came out in 2006 and said it, fine. But who the fuck cares about any of this shit? And it wasted like 15 minutes too. No Roode, no time for Fashion Police, women have to rush the main event, no time for AJ to have a good match.... no this needed to take up 15 fucking minutes.

  36. my wrestling fandom is more a function of Bobby Heenan, the hilariously biased heel color analyst, than any other individual. main events are one thing but I'd watch entire shows and every match on them, no matter how non-compelling the matchup itself might be, just to hear Heenan react to it. comedic timing that would rival any stand-up legend. his voice is imprinted on my brain as one of the elements of How Professional Wrestling Is Supposed To Sound.
