Also very sorry to hear about what Sullivan is dealing with. Not to get too personal, but I've been going through panic attacks for like a year and a half, and although they've leveled off with the help of medication, every day is still tough. Like for example, one effect is that I'm constantly dizzy-- if I can't even walk around normally, I cant see myself going out and working a match, especially something that high profile. I wish him the absolute best.

Y'know, I enjoy when topics like this come up and you get to learn little bits about the people behind these avatars.  I thought about this the other day, where IRL I "talk" to you guys/gals daily and it's neat to know more about what makes this community tick.  We don't have to like each other all the time, but mostly, we fam.

I'm a not only a huge "fan" of the Viking Age, Viking metal, and old norse Literatur, I also picked up a Masters degree in Scandinavian Studies with my main Focus on Norse Studies. I met lots of Viking cosplayers, watched the Icelandic asatru movement closely (which is new Interpretation of the believe in Odin, Freyr, Thor etc) been to a lot of concerts and such.

I can only speak for Germany and Scandinavia, but there is a big number of people with interest in Viking and norse subjects who belong to the political middle, or even left.

However, until recently these groups didn't acknowledge the use of Norse imagery, Nordic Runes and such through Neo-Nazi groups and right extremists. Mostly because most of the interest was cultural and aesthetic, not political or to to claim any kind of suptemacy. It is over the last few years that said groups take a political stance against right extremism. Plus, as RAF said above, the period of 1933 - 1945 has tainted quite a lot of the imagery at least, especially runes and ornaments.

I guess the point I'm trying to make - as I said, for Germany and Scandinavia at least - is that there is large "fanbase" for the Viking Age and Norse mythology aswell as literature and imagery who are just crazy geeks for a certain time period and cultural aesthetic.

I don't know either Rowe or Logan as a person, but judging from the effort that was put into that Wedding, they are very serious Viking cosplayers. There is so much effort in clothing, colours etc. Not saying that rules out any possibility of them being supremacists, but the use of Viking and Norse imagery seems to be quite contextual.

I apologize for the huge wall of text, but it is very rare that I encounter one of my true specialities outside of wrestling within the confines of this board. I felt the need to contribute. It angers and pains me that white supremacists, neo Nazis and crazy right wingers taint and try to take away Viking/Norse stuff. It's not the worst thing they have done and continue doing, but it still makes me mad.

The swastika, a symbol of spirituality and peace in India, was co-opted by those losers too. Nazis ruin everything.

It's been a real pleasure. I don't know exactly how long I've lurked here (probably since high school, though I remember when I was in college I remember someone here had a pretty cool signature that said "I remember when wrestling was fun-- it was 2007") but it always seemed like this was the place to be.

Funny you mention that.

I made a custom vinyl figure of Fung Sheng Wu Chi, a character in "Master of the Flying Guillotine".  He has a yellow smock/apron with the Buddhist swastika on the front; I labored over doing something different, but hey, it's art and I don't compromise (because then it wouldn't be Fung Sheng Wu Chi).

That's was 2012.  Now, every time some one sees it, they ask me - with noticable disdain - some variation of "What's up with the swastika?" I have toyed with the idea of printing out a pamphlet called "So, what's up with the swastika? A brief guide to religious iconography and why it's on this toy".

If they really want Wade back, we'll take him.

Barrett seemed really random but then I realized that they might be talking to him about some sort of coaching job at the new UK PC

I'm a little out of the loop on Barrett-- has he done anything besides the GM role on WCPW? I haven't seen anything about him working matches anywhere

WoS wrestling isn't dead yet. Shit, they're touring this month. Near me on the 25th. Probably not going.

EDIT: Yeah sorry, Stu Bennett was/is WoS heel commentator AND heel authority figure.

No, it really wouldn't. A start up company with talent virtually unknown in the US (with the exception of Chris Jericho) is hardly a serious threat to a billion-dollar world-wide enterprise that has been in business for fifty fucking years. The narrative that AEW is somehow a major threat to WWE needs to die a quick death. AEW is no more of a serious threat than your average murdshow. They are a well-funded start-up with some excellent choices in hiring, but they are not a threat to any major company, unless you consider Impact a major company, which I do not.

This is all true, but considering Impact should be shaking at the bit, that may be enough.

AEW is not going to be a serious threat to WWE any time soon, and probably won't be in the Elite's active careers.

Having said that, if AEW IS a threat to Impact, that's still a net positive for the business, because AEW is the first promotion since TNA/Impact that actually has a chance at taking WCW's position as the number two spot behind WWE..and that's still positive. TNA may have ended up being "what WCW likely would have become if they lived", but never really hit WCW's heights.

AEW's not going to beat WWE for 83 weeks straight, but if AEW can strive to become "the new WCW", that's not a bad thing.

I wish ABC had taken a punt on Vince McMahon instead of Bob Saget in the Danny Tanner role for Full House. Whether you leave everything else as is and just watch the show implode as coked up Vince constantly pitches Olsen incest storylines to the writing team, or "Suddenly, one day in Greenwich CT, Danny Tanner's wife, Linda dies suddenly in a cocaine accident and leaves Danny to raise his two kids, and decides to invite his two friends, Gorilla and Pat along for the ride (who plays Stamos and Coulier respectively is up to you)" is line ball.

Replace an Olsen incest angle with Candice Cameron-Bure, Jodie Swetin, and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) in a sort of incestuous lesbian angle. Meanwhile, Uncle Joey is found to have tons of kiddie porn on his computer and boxes upon boxes of it in a storage unit he rents. His act as a shitty comedian is simply to lure young teens into his twisted web. Vince pays Uncle Jesse in hookers and blow to watch the kids, so Uncle Jesse's main focus is his shitty bar band.

Full FUCKED UP House- coming soon to the WWE Network

Meltzer is reporting that AEW is negotiating to get a live, weekly, two-hour show on cable. If that happens, it wouldn't necessarily make them a threat to the WWE, but it will make them something Vince can't afford to take lightly. A successful enough #2 promotion can still have a big impact on the WWE's business.

Best wishes and best of luck to you. I had a severe panic attack at work last year. Thankfully, there was no funeral going on that day. One of my co-workers insisted on calling an ambulance for me rather than let me drive myself to the hospital. I was on short-term disability from June of last year until November. I started see a new therapist every week, now we do every other week. I also starting seeing a new psychiatriat at the same time. I usually see him once a month, but I've seen him more than that in times of crisis. I was diagnosed with agoraphobia as well. I'm not Sigourney Weaver in Copycat (very underrated movie, btw) level bad, but there was a good chunk of time where I was absolutely dreading leaving the house, especially to go to work. At times, I would go out to run a few errands and come right back home because I was dreading being out that much.

The impact AEW could have on WWE is not on McMahon's profits but on (assuming Khan's pockets are deep enough) the contracts of the workers. With an alternative workplace, everyone's bargaining power gets stronger. The long term effects of that, assuming there is a long term, could be enormous.

Beyond what AxB said, he's also done commentating work for other stuff too. The Beastmaster Challenge thing on Netflix comes to mind as he's the UK commentator. CM Punk and, um, Terry Crews? are the American commentators. At least I thought I saw Terry Crews commentating with Punk.

Didn't Barrett work a bit with Lucha Underground as well?

He still looks and carries himself like he's a somebody. A short run in either AEW or WWE wouldn't be bad for anyone. Heck, if they can get him to come in and challenge Dunne at a UK TakeOver, that'd probably be good fun. But you could say the same of anyone vs Dunne.

If Barrett does have a WWE run left in him, let him do the Bad News Barrett gimmick and be over as a face. He got himself over and the gimmick gets kiboshed. What kind of backward ass logic is that? I know it's not the first time nor the last it will happen, but it never makes it any less dumb when its done.

He appeared on the season finale in a vignette, but he never did anything in the ring.

So I did some searching to see if there was a reason Eva Marie might have been teased and she is going to be on the next season of Big Brother (they are doing some sort of Celebrity edition)

I am wondering if the stick her in the Rumble as a surprise and then try to be all REALITY TV STAR~!

Of course this is also the same company that hated promoting when they had people on Dancing with the Stars

Wasn't Wade's biggest problem that fact that he always got injured at the most inopportune times?

You made a custom figure of Fung Sheng Wu Chi? That is the coolest fucking thing I have ever heard! I demand pictures! How have I gotten through life without an action figure of Fung Sheng Wu Chi? Five minutes ago I didn't even know I wanted one, now I'm obsessed. I would commission one from my guy that makes custom figures, but I seriously doubt he has any idea who Fung Sheng Wu Chi is.
