Maybe there isn't ONE woman out there not locked down in a contract that could turn the division around, but it's about more than having a centerpiece that's really good. You could have the best female wrestler on the planet signed to AEW, but if they're surrounded with people like Leva Bates and others, it's still going to be trash more or less. Here's just a few off the top of my head that would be infinitely better than what ended up with: Allie Kat, Kimber Lee, Kris Stadlander, Leyla Hirsch, Aja Perera, Big Swole, Ashley Vox, Delmi Exo. Now, Allie Kat will probably never be in AEW unless her and MJF are on good terms again, but whatever, I'm being bias because I really like her. And, hell, only one of those wrestlers was in the women's Casino Battle Royale. Look at this list of people that appeared in that thing that could make their division better. Quote Shazza McKenzie, Tenille Dashwood, Ivelisse, Nicole Savoy, Jazz, Mercedes Martinez I'm including Tenille since it's assumed she's done with Impact, but it's not for sure. I like the joshi as much as anyone, but you can't rely on talent that don't make AEW their #1 priority. If they were just running monthly shows, this would be acceptable. But a revolving door of joshi talent while we get the likes of Britt Baker, Nyla, Allie, Leva, etc. when the joshi aren't on TV just isn't going to cut it, especially when women's wrestling is really popular right now.

At one point Jordynne Grace was penciled into the division, and turned them down for a bigger deal with IMPACT. Grace turned AEW and WWE down because when she looked at the three, she felt like she would have more of an opportunity to work for other indie promotions while she was with Impact. With WWE we know that's true, but I'm not so sure she was correct about AEW. Maybe at the time she looked at them doing just the one show a week and maybe AEW was non-committal to allowing her to work elsewhere. EDIT: And now I can't find where she said that, but I know I remember her saying it. Only thing I can find is stuff about Impact letting her spend more time with her fiance, there being more opportunities for her there (which really means nothing because she would likely have those opportunities elsewhere too), and something about Double or Nothing maybe influencing her decision (but again, she's not forth coming on what that is). So maybe at the end of the day it's really just about getting more family time. Edited October 23, 2019 by Craig H

It's now Janela vs Kenny Omega in a re-match from last week's Dark episode (but just a regular match). cancelling Evans vs Janela and replacing Jack with Omega seems like a very WCW EVERYBODY move. First of all it is nice that AEW has adopted the "lets have the crazy stipulation and then have the regular match idea" that the fans joke about. Second it seems like one of those "we need ratings lets throw this match on the show". But Janela kind of needs a win and Evans would be the best guy. Now he is going to be put with Omega and lose again. Just because Joey's matches have mostly not counted isn't going to make his losing record that palpable. I mean why not have Janela vs Moxley regular match on next week show

I mean why not have Janela vs Moxley regular match on next week show What is a 'WCW EVERYBODY move'? If it's a ratings move then that's awesome that Joey Janela, having never had a match on national television, is over with the TV demo. I'm not so sure Janela's W/L record really matters. He's not in any way a top guy nor ready for the top of the card - not to say he won't be in a year or so. That is if his body allows for it. No hang ups here, I'm looking forward to Omega-Janela II. Does anybody have any info concerning Britt Baker's Brit opponent Jamie Hayter? She's going to have to be particularly good to lead the green Dentist to a decent bout.
AxB
What does "We the People" even mean? Is that some American cultural reference no other country knows, but they assume is universal (Sami Callihan called Simon Miller "Mr Clean" today, and Miller had no idea what he was talking about). I know Tenille Dashwood and Taya Valkyrie were both trained by Lance Storm, but were they in the same class or something? Because going to a promotion for a month, to have a big match and lose, seems pretty strange. But if it was a favour to a friend, it makes a bit more sense. It's not like losing a big one on the way out of Impact means you arrive in AEW with negative momentum or anything. Not if Lucha Bros and PnP are anything to go by. hammerva
From what I understand Janela vs Evans was going to be on Dynamite. So he was going to get national exposure either way and he could have actually won. Now he is just going to lose to Omega in a match that doesn't seem to have any point especially since you did the hardcore match AS A POINT to show that Omega can go hardcore too. If that is the point of tonight then show highlights of the previous match. If Janela's role in the company is jobber doing crazy stuff then I guess it is fine. But not encouraging especially when you already have one of those in Jimmy Havoc.

Dude, I feel the best way to explain this to you is over a beer. I'm not sure who the "they" is that you're referring to, but "We the people" is how the constitution of the United States starts. "We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union establish justice..." and so on. It, along with the "Don't tread on me" flag, became a rallying cry of sorts for the tea party movement in United States during Obama's terms as President. Vince tried to cash in by giving Zeb and Swagger a tea party gimmick and because fans like to chant or parrot anything ironic or dumb, they naturally ran with chanting it.

Curt McGirt
I know she's running with like three belts right now but you'd think Mercedes Martinez would be directly in their crosshairs. She had the 2018 MOTY for fuck's sake.

AEW's women's division is totally awful, right now. The only star they have is Riho, and everyone else is just there. Nyla has a ton of presence, and in time, could be a big star. Britt Baker is pretty disappointing, and ladies like Allie and Brandi are no good. How is it that Impact has a much stronger women's division than this place? Hikaru Shida is signed, and I think has finished up her dates in Japan so the division should be a little stronger with her around. 4 hours ago, Raziel said: Impact has always had a strong Women's division. Part of the issue is that there might not just be enough there to make a strong one, between Impact always being booked well (with the women), WWE having the money, and other promotions being more solid. I mean, realistically AEW has the money to get talented women. Its a matter of them needing to do their homework in finding them. 4 hours ago, Godfrey said: I agree, it’s the promotion’s weakest point. Where are Awesome and Aja Kong? They were big selling points for me when things were getting started and they haven’t really factored in that much. The Kongs are both well past their prime and have other interests. Aja in particular is technically a member of Oz Academy. She is just allowed to do whatever the hell she wants to. Their wrestling might not be top notch still but that doesn't mean I don't want to see them and they'd add something to that thin roster.

What makes Awesome Kong past her prime? If you want to say she hasn’t been wrestling as much ok, but I think to call her past her prime is a bit premature at this point. I think people in general on here are going a bit overboard about the women’s division in AEW. They weren’t afraid to put the title on Riho because some out of touch guy in charge doesn’t find Asian women attractive which buys them as much time as they need with me. Make each person you bring in unique and more special over time or throw like 20 girls out there and have the same 4 trade 2 belts over and over and call it a revolution? Yea I’ll wait. Craig H
She'd be one of the biggest FA signings for AEW and her dad is there. I think she winds up in AEW. Wrestlers need to start being smart about this shit. You can look at the complete dogshit that is WWE's system. So, she'll go to NXT, where she already was, do that shit for a year, maybe 2 years, then she'll get called up to the main roster where who the fuck knows happens. Or she can sign with AEW and be an instant star.
