2016 US Indy General Discussion (if it doesn't already have a thread)

They added Team Police Squad today: Detective Bill Carr from Team Tremendous, Supercop Dick Justice, and Officer Warren Barksdale.  I hadn't heard of Barksdale before, but he's been working a police officer gimmick in Chikara this year.

Speaking of Johnny Gargano he just announced his last Indy match is in Cleveland for AIW on Sept 26th.  Looks like NXT will be pulling the trigger on him.

Yep. AIW is doing a farewell show for Gargano on September 23.

I bet they wanted Detective Joey Ryan from LU, but that would've given up his undercover status.

Would you violate the Chikara public decency policy if you chant, "Please don't shoot?"

No clapping during the entrance, everyone just stands there with their hands up.

I went to Chikara's roster page hoping Warren Barksdale was going to be someone doing a McGruff the Crimedog or similar Dog In A Police Uniform gimmick, but sadly he just looks like your average cop.

If you're in the area (or perhaps would want to travel), AIW out of Cleveland is bringing in a decent amount of name guys for their AIW Against the World show on August 26. Some of these guys don't get to the midwest that often.

  • Josh Prohibition vs. Nate Webb (AIW Title)
  • Tommy End vs. Ray Rowe
  • Louis Lyndon vs. Chris Hero
  • Teddy Hart vs. Facade
  • Tracy Williams vs. Michael Elgin
  • Laredo Kid vs. Triton vs. Matt Cross vs. Alex Daniels
  • BJ Whitmer vs. Shawn Schultz
  • Plus Shigehiro Irie, and I'm guessing some of the regulars that are available (Gargano, LeRae, DJ Z, Cedric Alexander, Veda Scott)

Looks like Maryland Championship Wrestling has quite the fall schedule lined up.

I may be making some weekend trips to Joppa if I don't fucking get dragged to Target or Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

I might go to at least one of those shows.  The Night of Legends sounds neat but I'll be damned if I'm going to spend assloads of cash just to meet them all.  But it should be a fun time regardless.

Well I've lived in Cleveland for a few years now and have been wanting to get to an AIW show, hopefully this will be the one.

Aw, shit, I'll go to it.  Why not, right?

I'm not going because I have you to go for me and to represent the board. Tell him that he's got a long way to go on the indy scene if he wants to rank in March Madness.

I can sense that he's not going to be one for the indy circuit in that fashion.  MCW is notorious for being a "mark" for legends/ex WWE guys of all types.  I'll be shocked if Ryback's match is longer than two or three minutes.  He does some moves, heel gets maybe one move in then he finishes the heel.  Easy payday for guys like him.   As long as there's promotions like this it'll be pretty much this way for him going forward.  It was like that for Billy Gunn, and he's the TV champ last I saw it.

I'd be better off asking about his good pal CM Punk before anything else.
