Doubting El Dandy
Teasing in a teaser trailer? That is actually and unsarcastically a novel idea.
Ultimo The Great
So i’m wrong in thinking it just looks like the prequels with a daft lightlaber? Looking at twitter, all they had to do was play the theme, chuck in a couple of X-Wings, the Millennium Falcon and they’ll be playing with themselves til new years. #IJustDontGetFanboys
Craig H
That was fucking awesome. Felt like original trilogy Star Wars with modern direction, but old school special effects in lieu of shitty CGI.
tigertooth
I don't have a problem with the new lightsaber. Honestly, it only makes sense. You have a lightsaber handguard for the same reason actual swords have actual handguards: to guard your hand from your opponent's blade sliding down your own blade. Overall I didn't care for the trailer until the Falcon part, and from there on I dug it. But I'll need to see a lot more to even get a preliminary opinion on whether or not I think it'll be good. Niners Fan in CT
It was pretty cool. I have to disagree with Raz on the CGI.. the CGI in this looked a hell of a lot better than the CGI in the new Jurassic World film. I'm into it.
peterien
I'm not a Star Wars fan (haven't seen any of them) but that looks awesome.

peterien
Actually, i just remembered that I've seen the Phantom Menace, as for the rest I just never got around to them. Who is the voiceover in the trailer?
Raziel
I'd guess its whoever is playing Mecha-Palpatine.
Eivion
Felt like a whole lot of nothing. Almost like it was teasing And none of said teasers did much for me save for maybe seeing the Falcon. It just wasn't exciting. I wasn't big on Guardians teaser trailer either and that showed a hell of a lot more.
Death From Above
Hey a preview that isn't total dog shit and blows the whole fucking movie a year in advance let's all complain about stuff.
EVA
Actually, i just remembered that I've seen the Phantom Menace, as for the rest I just never got around to them. Who is the voiceover in the trailer? I've seen a lot of people attribute it to Max von Sydow, but he has an incredibly distinctive voice, and that doesn't sound anything like him. Really, in certain parts, it sounds more like Benedict Cumberbatch than anybody I know of, but he was never officially cast in the movie.
Spaceman Spiff
Some speculation is Andy Serkis.
Niners Fan in CT
I'll say one thing. This certainly feels like Star Wars. It looks grittier than the prequels and from everything I've read they seem to be using a combination of props and CGI.

I read somewhere that they had it narrowed down to Cumberbatch or Serkis.EDIT: It was Empire online who said it,just remembered.
RandomAct
Regarding some of the "poor" effects some folks are complaining about. Remember we still have a year before this comes out, and I get the feeling they've shot very little as of right now. This stuff will get cleaned up.
Dirty J.
The beginning seemed OK-ish to me, but then the Millenium Falcon appeared with the kick ass theme and all was right in the world. Officially hyped as fuck.
_MJ_
I haven't read any Star Wars related books/stuff. I want to know if the light-saber in the trailer is in Star Wars canon? If it is, then it lightens some of the criticism I've read on it.
Bustronaut
No, it never appeared in any of the prior movies, so not in canon. Of course it appearing in the trailer for the new movie DOES put it in canon.
EVA
Best theories I've heard are that it's either an ancient, more primitive Sith weapon from before they realized the crossbar made no sense, or DIY job by some wannabe without the guidance of an actual Sith.
Bustronaut
I think the thing that bugs me the most is the F1-Fa, the soccer droid. Every other robot in the series has at least an air of realism to it, but F1-Fa is just a stupid design.
Raziel
I hear its impossible to replace though. Its presence on Tatooine might be to accept the bribe to give the Hutts the 40 ABY Galactic Cup.
evilwaldo
I think the thing that bugs me the most is the F1-Fa, the soccer droid. Every other robot in the series has at least an air of realism to it, but F1-Fa is just a stupid design. That design has been something NASA is considering for investigating new planets without the top. Hundreds of soccer ball shaped objects that would roll over the surface guided by the wind or solar power and provide general information much faster. BALL-E actually makes a lot more sense for a planet like Tatooine than the repurposed astromechs used in the past.
