I can’t be the only one who thinks this recent string of down-to-the-wire WWE contract renewals is a total work, right? Like, there is 0% chance WWE is featuring Chad Gable in the way he is right now without a contract agreement in place. Maybe it’s not officially signed per se, but they have agreed to terms, for sure.

Feels like pure, manufactured PR to create the image that WWE is “winning” on signings after getting pantsed by AEW on the Ospreay/Okada/Mercedes triumvirate.

Buddy, "pure, manufactured PR" is like 90% of all professional wrestling.

They're in the job of selling tickets, so why would they pass up the opportunity to make it "the last chance to see Wrestler X in a WWE ring"  (substitute Gable, Becky, Seth, etc.)  We're all cursed with the internet, so we have a pretty solid idea that this guy's leaving (Edge) or this guy's staying (Gable).  But WWE and AEW are both businesses, and the ultimate job of the business is to make money, so they can stay in business.  (Granted, AEW may be a little different insofaras Tony has a limitless piggybank to mess around with.)

But, let's not pretend that All Elite didn't have ol' scarf face running around during every promo saying "I'm leaving for WWE as soon as I can" while holding their biggest championship.

Tom Baker is All Elite?

I think we might see Brian Pillman go in the WWE Hall of Fame this decade.

With Melanie finally signing a legends deal a couple months back I'd say it's guaranteed. Not next year, but he'd have to be close to the top of the posthumous list

Melanie died two years ago, it was a daughter of Brian that did sign the deal.

Posted (edited)

(Slightly delayed post) Today was Nexus Day. June 7th, 2010. The little engine that could, but didn't. Next year will be the 15th Anniversary. I can remember it like it was just yesterday. Minus The Invasion, this was easily the biggest fumble in wrestling history.

Thanks guys, now I can’t stop imagining HHH, Nick Khan, and maybe Papa Shango doing a seance to get the deal done.

*HHH, disgusted* "Melanie, put down the pipe for a minute; Satan, can we discuss something with her?"

They also got Pillman Jr. to induct him now so that could have been something else to wait for.

If you’re a grown person, and you’ve got tickets to go see a pro wrestling show, there’s something I’d like you to think about. When you get to the show, I hope you have a wonderful time and you cheer or boo whoever you’d like. I hope you get excited for things that happen at the show and react to them as you see fit. However, maybe let’s think twice before you decide to be the guy who yells “funny” stuff. You may have a couple good ones. You may get some positive reactions from the people in earshot of you. That’s great. But, there’s probably a bigger chance that you are being incredibly annoying to those around you. We don’t need to hear every “clever” thought that pops in your head. It’s ok to keep some things to yourself.

We had one of these guys by us at Smackdown last night. We’ve had one by us at pretty much every WWE or AEW show we’ve been to in the last couple years. It’s not ruined the experience or anything dramatic like that, but it does lessen it.

So, this is just a long-winded PSA to remind people that you’re not always as entertaining as you or your couple buddies you’re at the show with might think you are.

I think it was Punk complained about how WWE made less of his Shirts available after he start to get close to the top of the Card. He started selling more shirts than Cena and I'm guessing Vince didn't want the image of having his top guys merch getting out sold. That's why I roll my eyes when I hear people say WWE is in the business to make money. Now we have 95% or more of the entire roster including NXT that is getting TV time has a shirt. Even a few years ago people on Twitter were complaining about Alicia Foxx not having a shirt despite being on TV for a decade or more at than point.

Your still going to have your token top guy or Top two or three guys and girls that they'll do everything to have the viewed and featured as The face of the company but I don't think this new regime is going to be a desperate to hold people back so hard from getting to the top level like they did with people like Ryback 12 years ago. Jey Uso two weeks ago had like 3 or 4 or the top merch last I checked and Punk was the top and he's been out.

I think WWE, Heyman and Roman himself have booked the Bloodline angle really well since WrestleMania really setting the table for the fans to really miss Roman and have him as the top babyface genuinely this time. I want to see how if Roman will completely eclipse everyone other than Cody and Punk as the top babyface.

Regardless of what you think about Solo taking over as the Don of the Bloodline or what you think about G.O.D. I think Heymans work alone is carrying the angle and me personally I think Solo is doing really well. If it was up to me I'd ride the wave of Jeys popularity as a singles on Raw without his brother for atleast 6 more months. I know both Usos are much better as a team but once Jeys back together with Jimmy,  he'll probably never be separated from his brother again outside of one of them being hurt.

It's not all a loss...I mean WWE got Shawn Spears as a nice consolation prize.

And the AEW women’s division improved drastically with Jade leaving.

And they’re often in the front row holding up multiple stupid signs.

Yep. There's some inconsiderate arseholes. I remember WrestleMania XL with two giant head shot signs. Think about your fellow fans first and not yourself.

Also, wash your ass.

No, but seriously.

Last show at MSG I went to was the NJPW/ROH show, and I had a pretty decent sized group with me, but unfortunately (and actually fortunately as you'll soon see) one cancelled last minute, so we had an extra ticket.  I ended up on the end of the row of all of us and the guy who was sitting next to me....  smelled.  Like hadn't showered in 3+ days smell.  😕

Through some miracle, I discreetly communicated with everyone that the extra seat that was between us was going to be needed on the other side of me.  Also, fortunately, the guy was a BIG dude and the friend (possibly S.O.?) he was with, switched seats with him so we wouldn't be seated next to each other even with the buffer.  Rest of the show was without incident, but...

This was a long post to say, take a shower.  Use soap.  Use deodorant WITH aluminum.  Spare the rest of the world the potpourri you have of yourself at home when you go out.  Lordy.

This talking point apparently is also going around comics fandom because a shop in Iowa put up a possibly joking sign about reserving the right to ask smelly customers to leave the store.

It's any fandom... It comes up in in person game tournaments, cons, wrestling events... The fact that it's so prevalent makes me think there is a systemic education issue lol

Who could have imagined having one title, half your division, dedicated to someone who couldn’t work would be detrimental?

All three of those fandoms attract a certain type of, let’s say, more socially stunted person, than others typically do.
