Curt McGirt
So was he booked to turn every two years or did he book it himself?

He and Dusty planned the 1979 face turn to set up the heel turn a year later; he was booking in Georgia in 1983, Dusty booked the ‘85 and ‘87 ones, and 1990 was just part of Flair wanting to be a heel. Curt McGirt
I definitely didn't think Ole would have a Big Show-esque level of turns to his credit.
Cobra Commander
If you think about it, kinda remarkable that it took this long for one of the 1980s Four Horsemen to die. The only other dead Horsemen being Pillman, Hennig, and Benoit. And it’s not like there haven’t been close calls. Ric a few years ago. Barry having a heart attack in the busiest airport in the south and making it through. Lex with that Spinal Stroke. It took 15+ years of MS to kill Ole. Like Ole was just spitefully refusing to let multiple sclerosis have the satisfaction of getting over on him for as long as possible. And in the end Ole hung around for long enough that Vince was gone from the WWE when Ole died. Ole also someone who could answer charges of racism by just saying he hated everybody. Also, Rob Feinstein once walked directly into an undercover sting and he once walked directly into having to deal with interviewing Ole. Feinstein is a shitty interviewer. So pairing him with a guy who has no tolerance for crap was an amazing duo. 2
odessasteps
Ole wanted to live long enough to see Vince lose control of the WWF. 3
Cobra Commander
Not sure how many topics there are that Ole Anderson and Richard Pryor agreed on but I suspect they had similar POVs on MS (or as Pryor called it “more shit”)
BloodyChamp
I just heard about Ole. RIP. He was the 1 mentally stable guy who did not give a f*^% what anybody thought about him which I like.

Elsalvajeloco
I am watching in real time Vincent do a coup on the NWO B&W in 1999. Right now, Curt Hennig, Vincent, and Brian Adams w/ a Kangol hat are fighting over who will ride in the 2nd limo. RIP Soul Train Jones
Ace
The second to last time I worked as a ring announcer was doing a tour through Alaska. On the tour were Valentina, The Volcano Kid (RIP), Black Metal, Disco Inferno, and Virgil. We did shows at military bases throughout the state. Virgil charmed every room he was in, getting freebies left and right. He'd even keep it up by being hilarious on the van rides. Disco got so annoyed that the one time he got an upgrade on a flight, Virgil got us all stickers that marked our flights as upgraded just to rib him. 2

BloodyChamp
Soul Train Jones was solid in the ring back then. Then I wasn’t the biggest WWF fan but Piper cheering on Virgil in that match at that moment is right up there with Hogan slamming Andre in the minds of those fans, even though it went flat down the line. Wiki says he had a degree in math? And taught highschool? He looked as much like a teacher as Ole did a wrestler, Ole of course being on the GOAT list of wrestlers who look like math teachers along with Arn, Larry Z, and more otherwise bad ass mfers. Also was the Sting injury match Ole’s last match? That would be even more ironic than the teacher thing for a reason that’s…..ironic Edited February 29 by BloodyChamp
