  1. I posted in one of the monthly threads that my great-aunt would always chastise 6 year old me and my uncle (who's really closer to being a cousin to me as he's not much older) for rooting for the "dirty men" like Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard and wondered why couldn't we just root for the clean men like Wahoo and Dusty? In this thread, we celebrate the dirty men of wrestling and their dirty deeds!

  3. 100% that's the senior in your class who got held back in 1st grade because his dad wanted him to be bigger than the other kids when it came time for sports so he looks older than 21, drives a Camaro blasting "That Smell" by Skynrd all the time and who buys the beer for parties but makes you pay an exorbitant "tax".

  4. How awesome is Tully in that first gif though? He's not even doing anything illegal. It's just a move you'd only do if you were a prick and a DIRTY MAN.

  5. Since there was some talk earlier about mid-year stuff, here's what I've got on my list so far for best matches. Keep in mind, this is all based on what I've watched. These are listed in no particular order ... 6. Today marks one year of sobriety for me. Honestly, even though it seemed unfathomable, I knew I could do it. I mean, I HAD to do it. For 12 years, even a minute dry would've had me up the fucking wall and in a panic. Being sober is cool. Real cool. Especially not having to worry about all of that bullshit any more fucking up my life.

  10. Doubly awesome when you notice that’s a young Ray Traylor...after this match Dusty has an idea for him, took him off tv from doing enhancement work, told him to grow a beard...Big Bubba Rogers was born.

  11. RJ City is really funny and talented. I'm surprised he hasn't been hired anywhere to do some sort of thing or show like this on a regular basis. At the very least I think the AEW version of Between 2 Ferns is a good role for him.

  13. Literally could have been as easy as 4 red turnbuckle pads on the top rope in one ring, and 4 blue turnbuckle pads in the other. But I guess they get a pass because this wasn't a planned out in advance idea. They had to rewrite Dynamite & Rampage due to a bunch of the roster not being available according to what's been reported.

  17. The Duffer Brothers already said that they don't know how they would do season 5 without a time jump considering how much everyone has aged. At the same time, how are you going to do a time jump when the episode ends with the end of the world beginning? Now that I've had a day to process it more, here's my additional thoughts and I'll just spoiler things just in case:

  19. I did not. Are you saying that it (workers sleeping with underage fans) did not happen? That statement does not necesarily mean that he is dismissing it or defending it. When I listen to David Bowie or Iggy Pop or Robert Plant -ad infinitum- I do so to listen to music, not to condone their admitted congress with underage groupies. There is a line. Art Barr, Ted Nugent, Joey Ryan -- all creep me out and should be righteously shunned. There is context, and I would listen to a discussion of this, but not when I want to listen to wrestling talk. I am sure that everyone has there "untouchable" lists, and that is fine, but there are also folks condemning fans for not abandoning pro wrestling fandom forever for the crimes of some. I can appreciate some peoples reaction to JC for the above and other stuff, but that is not my reaction, and I don't think everyone has the the responses at all. I do not want to start a conversation about identity politics and such on here, not because I do not think it's important but I don't think that a Wrestling Bulletin Board is a good spot for that (or really any place on the internet). I do not wish to judge or condemn anybody.

  20. You should go back and watch it. It was a shockingly good match. I went to the show and had a blast. One of the best cards I’ve ever attended live. The crowd was hot all night and not in that obnoxious “make shitty chants to get yourself over” sort of way either. We were all living and dying with every near fall in Usos vs The Street Profits. So much fun.

  21. Anna Jay, Skye Blue, Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, Tay Conti and Abadon to Japan. The Ass Boys in a time machine back to Memphis in the 80s or 90s. Dante Martin to Mexico and Japan. I'd sent Britt and Rosa over because they try to do things that are physically out of their reach at times, Britt especially. Maybe some time in the Stardom dojo would help. There is a noticeable difference in execution from Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter to just about everyone else on the women's roster.

  24. With all due respect to all the hardcore/deathmatch peeps here, I think deathmatches for the sake of deathmatches is fucking abhorrent. To me, anything "hardcore" added to a feud should be part of the escalation of violence in a feud. Cold deathmatches for the sake of bloodletting and gore is gross to me personally. Whether it's a US or Japanese Indy...it's so fucking unnecessary. Blood is such an important and impactful accent in pro wrestling matches. It adds so much gravitas to intense feuds and hard hitting matches. Especially on a big stage or as the crescendo of conflict. Cheap blood for the sake of blood is just....cheap. and gross. With all due respect.

  27. I do not think identity politics is a bad thing at all. I just do not want to debate it on a message board. Identity politics is a positive thing, and deserves proper discussion. I can listen to JC and go to sleep at night. I am not here to defend each and every one of his actions - in fact, I don't, but I can sometimes see where he is coming from, even when he is straight up wrong. He is a big boy too, and can accept responsibility for his fuck-ups and prejudices. I find it odd that here that folks are hesitent to use his name, but Benoit matches can be touted, and people can make jokes on Buck Zumhofe and Bob Sweetan. I don't think pro wrestling is performance art either and many wrestling may want a man to host a wrestling show (I dunno about that, but people are stoopid) but JC's childish personal attacks are wrong. The Saudi Shows were the last straw for me with the WWE, and I haven't given them a dime or any eyeball time since. If other people can support them with their viewship and money, it does not affect me. There are bigger battles than that. In my life, I deal with, support, defend, love and debate with "marginalized communities" and the members therein. Life is hard, and we all have to work together, and try to understand each others deficiencies. NO, that does not refer to Cornette - that understanding is for how each of us deals with the shit just to get through the day. Is there anyone without some shit on them? I do appreciate when others can help me clean up some of that on me.

  34. I love this kinda stuff. Now, did the intern set to this task count a three man Dx triple-chop "suck it" as 9 Crotch Gestures or just one? How many of those Middle Fingers were from Steve Austin? Does a double bird count as two? What was the baseline Obscene Phrase? If the number 69 came up randomly in a percentage stat would that count? Someone ring up Dr. Gantz for the raw (!) data.

  35. Went back and watched Against All Odds from last Friday. Couldn't really enjoy it the first time through as I was having a horrible allergy flare-up during the show. Overall, I thought it was a good show. Solid wrestling, fun matches and it kept me entertained throughout. I'd recommend checking out MCMG vs. Chris Bey & Ace Austin and also Speedball vs. Trey Miguel. Callihan and Moose in the House of Fun match was a fun (no pun intended) chaotic brawl. I though the main event of Alexander vs. Doering was a bit boring.

  38. The rule of thumb with gimmicks should be that if you're going to use them, you need to be able to use them to their logical full extent. One of my biggest pet peeves is when the sledgehammer gets pulled out, it's something you're logically able to murder your opponent with, but you're only prepared to jab someone in the ribs with the handle? Baseball bats the same more often than not. At least thumbtacks, tables etc you know that they're being used to maximum effect. Weed whackers...yeah I mentioned a couple weeks ago I saw a spot that required 4 ring crew enter the war games cage, 4-5 guys holding each other while the thing started....to achieve a passing graze with it, rather than inflict some serious damage with it. Pointless.

  39. I wanted to refrain from comment until I'd seen the whole thing, so here goes; 1. Ethan Page does not need a mouthpiece. Dan Lambert is a legitimately great "heat machine" manager, and would really help someone get to the next level. Ethan Page is no longer that person. Stick Lambert with Anthony Ogogo, maybe. 2. "Jane" is a fucking banger. It adds so much to Orange Cassidy's presentation. Tazz correctly predicted how the crowd would react to that guy. Not that it's hard, but still... Pretty good match. At some point you're gonna have to add Ethan Page to the "people we have to do something with" list. He's so, so good. Great finish. What a reaction. The Best Friends' getup absolutely rules. 3. Christian Cage is so effortlessly good at this heel shit. His promo was despicable without having to scream into the camera. Take notes, MJF. The Luchasaurus thing rules. I love the overhaul. 4. Wardlow needs to murder Scorpio Sky and whoever Lambert brings from ATT. I could see them drawing out his TNT title win until All Out, but that would be a mistake. 5. Holy shit. Who would've that that "Ass Boys; heat machines" and "Max Caster; tv taping mvp" would be a thing in 2022? Caster has gotten this whole thing over to a ridiculous degree. Rod and Tod Ass have such punchable faces. 6. Danhausen is a jewel. That guy will earn the value of his contract and then some over the next couple years, and not a penny of it will be earned in the ring. And that's okay. FTR as top babyfaces is also a wonderful development. 7. Billy Ass choosing the Acclaimed over his actual sons makes total sense. Like when Dusty Rhodes used to talk about how awkward it was when Eddie Graham would refer to him as his "wrestling son," when Eddie actually had a son that wrestled. I wonder if that's why Mike was so mad all the time. 8. PRetty fun promo from Singh, Lethal and Dutt. 9. A recurring theme for tonight is "people WWE had in to the PC for tryouts who went on to draw actual dollars for another promotion." Jade Cargill is at the top of that list. She is a STAR. Is she a great in ring worker? No. Does that matter? Not even a little bit. The UE guys are great workers and they couldn't draw money with a green crayon (that's the only shot, I swear). Leila Gray joining the Baddies makes sense. Statlander is such a standout. She has a chance to be a great homegrown champion for them if they pull the trigger at the right time. Have her take the belt off of Jade and move Jade up to the big prize. 10. In my attempt to be more positive, I will refrain from comment on the Young Bucks promo, particularly when they referred to themselves as "the best tag team in the world" when they weren't even the best tag team in the building. 11. Holy shit. Every part of Blood & Guts ruled much ass. The JAS entrance was the right kind of heelish. Kingston and P&P got an unbelievable reaction. The conspiracy theorists amongst us will note that P&P didn't rock the matching "Dead Presidents" face paint. It took me exactly two matches to turn me from "meh" to "holy shit" on Claudio. Mox's entrance is maybe the best in wrestling. Dude is clearly having the time of his life. 12. Sammy Guevara is a madman. I love that starting "B&G" is his thing. He and Claudio had some communication issues, but he is the exact right kind of guy to make Castagnoli look like a monster. Daniel Garcia is such a great stooge heel. Enough hard edge to make him credible. I got serious early Kurt Angle vibes from that huge du-rag. Did Stevie Ray have a yard sale? Suckas gotsta know. 13. It is as damning an indictment on the current WWE system that in less time than it took them to take Shinsuke Nakamura from "superstar" to "just another guy," AEW turned Wheeler Yuta from "dude who ate pins for the Best Friends" to "future pillar of the company." William Regal told a story on someone's podcast about how he wanted to sign Garcia, Yuta and Ricky Starks to nXt. He was told that WWE wasn't interested in continuing in that direction with nXt. Jake Hager; big match monster is another quirky, wonderful thing about AEW. There was no way to see that coming, and yet it's here. The moment he and Claudio had was truly awesome. 14. I loved the finish. That tells such a great story. That Claudio was able to come in and immediately do what Eddie had tried to do for months is such a poignant story beat to draw from later. I'm falling asleep. I'm sure I'll have more to say later.
