  1. What, I thought most us were jerking it to Japanese women in fur boots in that thread?

  2. And people wonder why some of us just like going into the photo thread and looking at cool pictures of wrestling without context...

  4. You're really downplaying everything here in order to be right and I have no idea why I'm replying. What Graves said is not the issue. It's how he said it and who he said it to. This goes beyond "criticism" and you're the one being intellectually dishonest with yourself for claiming such. Or you just can't wrap your head around it and damn, if that's the case, I feel bad for you. Context matters. How you say something, where you say it, and who you say it too all matter. Let's take Graves at face value and assume he honestly had an issue with Mauro's commentary style. Mauro is bipolar and doesn't take well to being fucked with/bullying/etc. He could: A) Approach him in private and discuss it B) Mock him on Twitter In what world is point B okay? In what world is that behavior just considered just "criticism?" Thank you for admitting it's "a jerk move." Normally, that's all I would call this. But his target in this case is a guy with an actual and well-documented disorder, which puts this far beyond "jerk move." Someone on reddit made the analogy of seeing a person with a broken leg and kicking him in the shin. Someone else said "talking privately means you're talking TO someone. Talking publicly means you're talking ABOUT someone." I don't know why this is so difficult to understand.

  6. Or, as someone put it on WOL, it would be like if a grocery store had a meeting and you decided to call out one co-worker for being annoying over the intercom letting both customers and employees know. And it's also not just what Graves said. It was also him replying to and liking others comments knocking Mauro. I'm sick and fucking tired of the comments like, "well Mauro should know where he's working," or "maybe WWE isn't the best place for Mauro to work," or "he shouldn't be so sensitive," or "people who are bipolar shouldn't be exempt from criticism," or "everyone is pearl clutching." That is all bullshit, it's gross, and it shows a complete lack of understanding. Hey, how about WWE take into consideration those with certain sensitivities and operate like many other professional companies. This company is so full of shit when it comes to anti-bullying and be a star and whatever. How about you put your foot down on mocking your peers outside of any sort of storyline? We've already discussed the part about being sensitive, but the part about being exempt from criticism really irks me. No, that's not what this is about. Mauro or anyone else who has severe depression or ADHD or mental illness or bipolar disorder or any other mental illness isn't exempt from criticism, but maybe take into account what you're saying and how you're saying it. Like you said, having a private conversation would have been far better than mocking someone on Twitter and liking other tweets making fun of Mauro.

  7. Literally my only takeaway for this month. I'm a career mental health guy. And I'm lending nothing to this discussion on principle (I likes my pro life and personal interests as separate as possible), but I am fascinated by the discussion as it's transpiring over what constitutes compassion & perception of the basic principles of what it means to suffer with mental illness, from people on the outside looking in. It legit helps me get a feel for how to coach my clients when they come in, feeling invalidated by family/friends who think that a simple "Why don't you just calm down?" or "There's nothing wrong with you," or "Just get over it already" is enough support.

  8. How quickly we forget the immortal Horshu. OK, I typed this response and then tried to find a image of the stupid haircut and then realized Luther Reigns is Horshu which has never crossed my mind.

  9. At the show I was at in Friday, A-Kid managed to make himself the biggest heel in the building through the simple medium of entrance music. We're all standing there, waiting for him to come out, and then we hear it, booming over the PA system: "Cut my life into pieces, this is my last resort" BOOOOOOOOooooooo!

  11. I tried to watch this show. First time in months. Seth talks to open. Forever. Come back from break so Seth can talk. I'm out. Fuck this show. Seth Rollins promos should be illegal.

  12. The line is busy. @OSJ, I hope you asked for Sterling James Keenan. I can't wait until December, so this thread can die a much deserved death. The stigma mental health issues carry is really sad and the general ignorance and/or lacking of compassion is equally as sad, especially on a board that is generally more progressive and caring than other places.

  13. RIP Keith Flint. When he died, I read a story about how he ran a pub in his later years. He kept a money jar over the fireplace to fine people who made the obvious joke when he was putting in some kindling.

  15. I'd debate that on the basis of Reigns' hair being a simple, quick shave. Graves' ridiculous hairstyle looks like it takes time and effort. My wife and I watched Total Divas for a few episodes before we decided it's just garbage, and I just could not stop staring at Graves' hair like "what the fuck is that? How does he do that?" It's this bizarre pompadour that sort of sweeps up in a bouffant, but then tucks in on itself. It's very precise and appears to defy some laws of physics, and it's obvious he spends a lot of time on it. It's like Vanilla Ice's hair and Egon from The Real Ghostbusters' hair had a hair baby. As a dude who shaves his head with a .5 guard every other week, I shouldn't be taking about other dudes' hair, but here we are. or should I say...hair we are?

  16. On a more positive note: not only is Asuka one of the most stunningly beautiful women I've ever seen, she is so damn entertaining in the ring that she can get me to sit through hours of VKM bullshit just to see her in a short match. Using the green mist is a brilliant touch. If they were smart, she'd get a year-long run on top as a heel champ before turning. She proved in NXT that she can own a crowd and work face as well as heel and still be over in the clover. She's once in a generation talent and hopefully WWE makes the most of what they have with her.

  19. Twitter straight ruined wrestling. And everything, really. Only if you can refrain from whining about how people's outrage levels are just too damned high for you. We get it, you're a contrary thinker. If we say that we think you're very enlightened, will you stop whining about "approved lists" and insinuating that all outrage is performative?

  20. "Up in his feelings?" Holy shit, dude. The guy is bi-polar and, on top of that, was having a pretty shitty couple of days with his illness. I hope you never know how awful that kind of thing is, or even just how bad a bout of even plain old anxiety is. And if you do, I hope you encounter people with more empathy than yourself. He dragged a coworker in public, making fun of another human being and using them to get over with a bunch of Internet marks. It's low and disgusting. Please don't frame this like Graves had some reasonable, constructive criticism for Renallo that he presented in a professional manner. He had a shitty, snarky comment that he made purely for Likes or whatever they call it on Twitter. It's grotesque behavior from a shitty person.

  23. First and foremost mullet is a social construct, and isn't as binary as an awesome ting in pro wrestling or the most awesome thing in pro wrestling history. You need to look at every mullet as a unique snowflake and judge it on it's own merits. For instance, Kensuke Sasaki's mullet is the most awesome thing in pro wrestling history. Tenzan's mullet was an awesome thing in pro wrestling. Mike Awesome's mullet looked goofy as hell and needs to be ridiculed. Ricky Morton's mullet looked goofy as hell, but is also one of the most awesome things in pro wrestling history.

  31. You just reminded me of Ray on Mr. Inbetween picking out the shovel at the store and proceeding to use it for some very not-shoveling activity. I'm sure his character would have some particular things to say to that jerk Graves. Picking on a guy who literally has a movie about his mental problems floating around out there, man... really?

  32. I was hoping against hope this would have a much, much different ending. I just pray that Walt Harris and his family can find some type of solace that will get them through their time of grieving. No one, especially someone that young with her entire future ahead of her, deserves to lose their life like that. Just absolutely terrible.

  36. This whole Mauro thing sucks, because there isn't really a right answer. I have a family member who married a woman who is bi-polar and let me tell you, there is no telling what will trigger her in a way that can be downright frightening from time to time. There was one time that she had a huge blow up because another cousin suggested they wait on someone. When my cousin, her husband, asked her what happened, she said, "I can't believe he would do something that vile to me," before then telling him, "I was going to wait, any way." She spent the rest of the weekend secluded, crying, and telling her husband that it's his fault for not protecting her from this situation. Except, there is no way to protect someone from a situation that they can't possibly see coming. Was Graves wrong? I mean, I guess if you expect Graves to take Mauro's feelings into account before he says anything at all, but that's not really realistic. Mauro is someone who has some pretty well documented mental health issues, but it isn't Grave's job to protect Mauro's mental health. Mauro's mental health is his responsibility. He can cut off his Twitter, and not listen to commentary when he's off television if that helps. What he can't do is expect everyone else around him to censor everything they say and/or keep his feelings in mind, because his mental health isn't their responsibility. Graves' comment was unnecessary, but so is almost every comment.

  38. DQ's are only for foreign objects. It's well known that all Japanese Wrestlers* possess an extra gland that produces the mist, therefore making it natural. It's just that only certain people trained that gland to produce the mist over the years. So really, it's just like spitting on your opponent. *this also applies to Multiverse Snake Demons that possess Canadian hockey enthusiasts.

  39. Holy shit Horizon Zero Dawn is a really good game. Can’t remember the last time I was actually invested in a story like this and I’m only like 3 hours into the game. I’m dying to know what happened to this world, why there are machines everywhere, how they got there and who is making new ones. Is Aloy a clone or a test tube baby? So many questions! I booted up Last Of Us when I got my PS4 set up, and... fuck, those first 5 minutes are bruuuuutal. Not at all how I thought the story was going to go. You see the cover art, and who you’re playing as when the game starts, and you make assumptions. Then the game just rips your heart out as soon as you start playing.

  42. Becky might be approaching "then the bell rang..." and I'm not sure why. There's a lot of evidence now of her being super over in promos and brawls but far less so during the actual matches. She's not having bad matches but something about her isn't keeping people engaged.

  43. The directing in this latest episode was nothing short of amazing. The point of view shots between was simply terrifying and the shot of was equally incredible... I don't know if I want to touch on this or not but I think we are all adult enough.. @J.T. there has been a lot of talk online, I think most of it is toxic but it's making the rounds that one particular scene only "served to emasculate the black male protagonist" and basically it was thrown in there for that purpose and first of all I don't care what anyone's sexual preferences are period.. the reason I bring it up is because there are some very otherwise intelligent people trying to make that case saying basically that Hollywood is doing this purposely.. I felt it all played into the story in a meaningful way, I don't think it was shoehorned in for ulterior motives. I think it's sad that these are still conversations in 2019. In the graphic novel, it is indeed hinted at in regards to in a not so subtle way and here I believe it did serve a purpose because it's directly tied to how we get to Tulsa. What did you think? I didn't have any thoughts on it until I went online and then saw people freaking out.
