Imagine if CHIKARA was still a thing. Toni Storm in an old timey trio for the King of Trios cup would have been awesome. Her, Luther, and maybe like a legend that can do a few signature spots. Maybe Gerald Brisco lol

Apparently we are getting QT vs the Costco Guys at Full Gear

Oh my god Mox is going to put the Rizzler through a table isn’t he

(yes I’m ashamed I know all this)

Honestly, the only way I see this stupid BCC storyline working out is if The Costco Guys beat the shit out of Moxley.

The answer to the third man based on recent promos is clearly Stan Hansen.

Hope either got Shreveport or Little Rock TV, so I have to think it was Tri-State. Not sure how far west Memphis TV went, though.

Probably my neck of the woods in northwest Mississippi/Mississippi Delta which is a hop, skip, and jump from the Arkansas Delta (eastern Arkansas). There is some overlap because Greenville, MS (a regular Mid South stop) is right across the bridge from Lake Village, AR, which part of the Arkansas Delta. However, Jonesboro, AR in Northeast Arkansas was a regular Memphis territory town cause of it's proximity to Memphis. Since there aren't that many big cities in the Delta area (the bordering corners of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee), there aren't many options to run wrestling. Just little bitty towns and that's probably why the Memphis territory was running so many high school gyms.

I could be wrong since I ain't that old, but just speaking geographically I don't think it ran that deep into the state of Arkansas. So probably just out of reach especially if you're in Little Rock for example.

Yeah Hope and Hot Springs would both be closest to those two markets, probably could get both with a good antenna.

I honestly thought the Elite storyline would get to them beating up Daniels and him getting a certain hot and spicy friend to avenge him.

There was already a stable in CHIKARA called The Throwbacks which featured Thunderkitty who did an old timey woman wrestler gimmick which would have complimented her pretty well.

We can probably expect plenty of lower to midcard guys trying in vain to defend AEW's honor against Moxley's Combat Crew (was that Nigel was calling them?), but once things escalate, there's plenty of more credible guys to step up, even before the top guys need to start getting involved.

As I suspected, The Elite kept their distance, because Young Bucks are scared, eventhough they hold a tag team pinfall victory over Moxley and have probably pinned PAC during that best of 7 trios thingy against Death Triangle. Jungle Jesus could probably beat Yuta, if he put his mind to it and Okada has beaten PAC, could have beaten Castignoli with more time, would have a decent chance against Mox and could at least hold out for a bit against Safir.

House of Black is another crew who I could see getting pissed off about this bullshit and step up to destroy this "new" threat. I would like to see Adam Copeland say, fuck it, let's team up for a little bit and then we can settle things if we still feel like it. I guess they'd need Julia and her mist back to neutralize Marina, but they'd definitely have a shot.

The newest incarnation of Don Callis Family seems like a force. Have Hobbs come back from the injury "caused" by Moxley and shit will be on.

For the time being though, I'd wager The Conglomeration will take a stab at them, once OC gets out of his own head and is willing to face these guys once more.

The roster is so deep that they could milk this for a good while and increase the stakes gradually. In the mean time, however, I guess we will be seeing the likes of Dark Order getting lead to the slaughter before anyone of consequence will have to be sacrificed.

'Interim EVP' Curry Man would be a welcome replacement for hammy babyface Chris Daniels. Excellent idea.

Maybe it is just me, but I do not get the vibes of an "invasion" or anything like that from this angle with the BCC. In fact, I'm getting the total opposite. It goes back to the stuff with Private Party; They broke Zayn's hand with the hammer, and it pissed them off and they've stepped their game up. I think Mox is laying things out pretty clearly - he is against guys just showing up to hang out with their buddies and have fun.  BCC are the super serious guys there to beat people up.

This is reminding me more and more of a Chikara-type angle. I think where this is going is "Guys Who Take Wrestling Too Seriously" vs "Wrestling Is Supposed to Be Fun!"

Orange Cassidy and Darby are the two linchpins to the angle.  OC's whole gimmick is that he is a slacker, and just hanging out with his friends. Darby has repeatedly said that he doesn't care about winning the AEW title, he is just "Mr AEW". Both of these things offend Jon Moxley, as they are the opposite of what he believes.  Guys like the Dark Order and Top Flight have been floating around for years now but getting any better, not moving up the card, and the BCC is taking them out.

It's something to think about. If this were Vince we'd all think this was his way to getting back at talent he didn't think performed the way he was expecting. 🤣

You know, I really don’t like Billy Joel, but there’s something to the line, “the good old days weren’t always good and tomorrow ain’t as bad as it seems.”

Undertaker acting like he was some bastion of old school wrestling, when actually the generation before him would have considered him a joke, is the fucking best.  Please remember Lou Thesz thought Harley Race was a goofy spot monkey.  This shit is cyclical.  Fuck the “in my day…” crowd.

Brian Solomon had a good take on this on his podcast (not specifically talking about Taker) back in the 20's the old timers where complaining about Irish whips and flying shoulder tackles being unbelievable. Yet a hundred years latter we have to same complain about modern wrestling

And today he’s a sacrosanct hard man patron saint of old school wrestling.  In 40 years, we’ll be looking back wistfully on how the Young Bucks ruled the locker room.  🤣

I get this argument, but I think it really undervalues all that's been lost over the generations, and I don't think people should laugh it away like they do. I personally feel like wrestling would have been better without Race's high spots. You see something like Johnny Valentine vs Bull Curry and it'd be great if wrestling was more like that.

There's a line from Race/Stevens to Flair to Michaels to Omega/Bucks. And it's not all positive progress.

Matt, this question isn't in response to this post, but i've been meaning to ask you this for a few weeks now.

You've been critical of Hangman Page's matches in the past. I enjoy his matches but can absolutely see your POV and find your critique to be valid and informative. Has that changed with his character shift? To me, his matches seem to be built very differently. Obviously centered less around high spots (although he still more often than not busts out that nonsensical Orihara moonsault). But has his more hardnosed tactics affected your views?

I'm terrified at the prospect of wrestling nonsense that's going to piss off the Young Bucks and Orange Cassidy.

I doubt it'll piss off Orange Cassidy. He seems pretty chill.

I meant relatively. What would make him go "C'mon man" then shrug.
