Eh, it’s whatever. It’ll be a short comedy match, probably designed specifically to be cut up for highlights for TikTok engagement on his account and AEW’s. Unless they start doing shit with this match on the actual television shows, I’m unbothered.

I think what professional wrestling needs is a Crisis on Infinite Earths type of event to just reset everything, so we can start fresh.

WCW managed to make even this a terrible idea

I thought the Firefly Fun House match sort of did that, but from Cena's subsequent appearances it seems his career and sixteen title reigns were not in fact erased from continuity.

I just read about Shelton Benjamin discussing 'ragdolling' Daniel Puder while shooting in the ring before a show. I wonder if there's an effective way to bring in some shooters/toughs for Benjamin to smash. Maybe he could fuck up Barnett on a Collision.

Oh, Shelton needs to do the next Bloodsport show!

Russo must've been coming into his own as a fan around Mania 4.  I can relate.  As a 13 year old, the idea of this storied championship being held up with the winner determined by a one night tournament was positively mind blowing.  Russo was always trying to do a title tournament, just constantly chasing that 1988 high.

I used to rent that video more than any other wrestling show, even though the matches were all dreadful. I don't know how many times my poor GI Joe fed had resets or injuries just so I could run title tournaments!

Joes were the best figs to play with.  The WWF thumb wrestlers were great, too, but they’d start to rip in half along the seam after a while.

For the first year of my fandom, before I could convince my parents to get tapes as gifts, I rented WM4 and the High Flyers Coliseum Video the most. The rental store counted WM4 as one tape and I felt like I was getting the best value. I was 10, what did I know? High Flyers was really cool though.

Hold up, I wanna flesh out this Crisis on Infinite Earths idea. It has to have territories and time periods all be different universes. Who would be the Monitor and Anti-Monitor? Is Pariah just a melange of fans over time, doomed to watch beloved promotions fade and fail? I think we could figure this out.

I was ring announcer for BRAWL (Bloody Rage American Wrestling League) and remember introducing "from the north he is Tundra" for the man who is now Big Boom AJ. I'm getting a kick out of seeing him get this sudden popularity 20 years later. I might try to re-connect with a couple of BRAWL people and go to the show.

MVP and Barnett are apparently working eachother on the next Bloodsport card. Interesting how that is going to work out as I thought MVP was done due to injuries and looked like he needed a cane to walk.
