If true, I can see Martinez being used similar to Ohno as player/coach.

I still think its shameful that they had her as a pretty big feature in both Mae Young Classics, and they repeatedly talked about her financial struggles and then didn't sign her.

Bigger question is how does AEW not pick her up.  I mean she was in that casino battle royal gimmick I believe.  Not like they have a strong women's roster.   Meanwhile she is going to a division in NXT that is so strong and loaded that people like Cheslea Green and Deonna Purrazzo has to go up to the main roster to make room.

If AEW was smart, they'd go on the network, watch the two Mae Young Classics and just pick anyone not signed to WWE.  Kimber Lee, Sage Beckett, Vanessa Kraven, and Priscilla Kelly are all as good enough to be on television every week.  I don't even think the top of AEW's women's division is that bad, it's just so damn shallow that they should be looking for every capable worker they can find.

Do we know that they didn't make her an offer?

Green and Purrazo didn't move up to the main roster. Both were still presented as hailing from NXT.

This is why I always found the "AEW has trouble getting women because WWE signed everyone" argument I occasionally see to be bullshit. There were plenty in the first two MYC never picked up with many of them having likely improved in the time since.

there's no way to know, but they made it a major talking point that she needed to work multiple jobs as well as have a crazy travel schedule to take care of her child.  It was like one of those stories where a kid uses his lawn mowing money to provide something basic for his family.  People think it's some charming story about hard work  and pulling yourself up by the boot straps, and I just roll my eyes and think, "this is a horrible fucking story about a failing society."  Her story fails to be charming when being told by a company who is in a position to change the narrative.

To be honest that was why I was kind of surprised she didn't end up in AEW. I figured she only didn't go to WWE because of the schedule and move affecting her family. I thought she was AEW bound for sure after her battle royal appearance.

Could be something as simple as not being able to uproot her life and move to Orlando at the time.

I'm not disputing any of this.  I hope I'm just letting my imagination run wild, and they did everything in their power to help her.  It just rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm pretty sure Beckett has retired, but I've no idea why Kimber Lee or Kelly aren't already signed up, esp when you consider Kelly's husband already works there. For that matter, I don't understand how the likes of Solo Darling or Lady Frost haven't been signed up by anyone yet, not even Impact

Vanessa Kraven for Dark Order or *sigh* Nightmare Collective.

Vanessa Kraven, Priscilla Kelly, and Bea Priestly could be some a pretty good heel stable.  This also may be me mixing up the goth/punk/emo spectrum and none of them actually make sense together.  The goth/punk/emo spectrum is also something I just made up.  But, there is an alt-beauty type thing that I could get behind with them.

Reminder - Kimber Lee had been signed for NXT. Her NXT name was Abbey Laith

She got like wins in the first Mae Young and I think had like two matches on TV

At the time (I am not sure if the real reason ever came out) there was debate if the WWE just released her or if she asked for her release because she wasn't being used on TV

Lee has been gone for two years now. Its kind of odd no one else has tried to pick her up.

Zachary Wentz proposed to her last year, if that counts. She said yes.

She was dealing with alcoholism a while back.  She posted that she was clean and sober a few months ago.

Had no idea on either of those. Good for her in getting help and finding someone she want to spend her life with.

I, um.... got a little excited at the Time Splitters reunion in Pittsburgh tonight. Kushida RT'ed me though, which was cool and unexpected.

Also got to Bask in a little Glory.... including a hilarious photobomb. Fun night!

Spoiler

What was Velveteen Dream's injury? Meltzer was asked about his status during a mailbag segment, and he said he doesn't know of a timetable for his return, but was told his injury is pretty serious.

Think Velveteen Dream has a back injury. Shame as he'd have played a pivotal part for NXT vs. RAW vs. Smackdown last November.
