Curt McGirt
The only thing I remember about Street Fighter was Van Damme doing the Euro-style "fuck you" gesture. Mortal Kombat I went to with my childhood best friend and we both thought it sucked! That was a shocker. The only thing I remember from THAT travesty besides the theme song was Scorpion's skull getting sliced in half. How they never made a completely gore-soaked MK sequel is beyond me, especially since the games just got worse and worse with the violence over the years. Brian Fowler
Mortal Kombat is terrible but fun. MK Annihilation is terrible but also terrible.
BrianS81177
The DOA movie was terrible, but in an enjoyable sort of way. I've never played Warcraft but like the movie well enough to watch some of it if I happen across it on TV or on demand. I know the Resident Evil movies don't have their fans but I liked the first 2 before they started veering away from the games. Still, yeah, the Silent Hill movies are probably the best

J.T.
I will admit to hating nearly all video game movies...... ........with the possible exception of the Resident Evil movies since the dude that played Wesker was so campy it was great, and latter directors embraced the idea that these movies were zombie films coupled with gun porn so they didn't even bother explaining how people in the zombie apocalypse managed to get their hands on such badass firearms. (BP)
Did anyone watch Max Payne? I remember thinking that one would be really hard to screw up, but then were demons or something in the trailer and I never bothered with it.

All of the Max Payne games have Norse Mythology reverences in them. The "demons" in the movie were supposed to be Valkryie coming for the souls of the dead. Yeah, it was stupid. Even more unbelievably ridiculous was the remarkably dumb Just Say No moment when Max shoots up the illicit substance he's allegedly trying to get off of the streets because although the drug drives you insane with euphoria and caused you to hallucinate, it also gives you super human strength. What a wonderful message to send to our children.
Dolfan in NYC
I don't feel like going through 30 pages and search isn't helping so, I'm reposting this since it comes out today and is currently sitting at 97% on RT and if you're locked out of Ant Man 2, this may be a very good alternative: SORRY TO BOTHER YOU (RED BAND Trailer)

I don't understand how a video game that desperately wanted to be a John Woo movie got a film adaptation that apparently had never heard of John Woo movies.

It's weirder than the trailer and takes swings. Feels new. Give it a shot, people.

You are right that it's one that is gonna take a few days to process and really take it all in. It is so trippy and wild, there's a late 1960s movie called PUTNEY SWOPE that this felt like a spiritual sequel to. I laughed a lot and cringed a lot (in a good way) but it's a movie that I cant say "it was good" or "it was bad" because it really is such a unique beast.
John from Cincinnati
No news yet, but I'm assuming a movie about the Thai cave rescue will be out by the fall of next year at the latest, starring Marky Mark and directed by Peter Berg.

BurningBeard
Sooooo Neil Blomkamp has announced he is making Robocop Returns. Yet another requel. I assume its because he couldn't get his grubby mitts on the Alien franchise. As far as I can see the only saving grace is it will be based of an actual script from the original writers which Verhovan had no time to make way back when
Craig H
I think Blomkamp had a good vision for sci-fi and he seemed like one of those guys who could be the next Spielberg, but then he stumbled with Elysium and we don't even need to talk about Chappie. I hope he gets back on track. If he gets back on track then he could get back to being a promising director. If he doesn't, then he'll be, what, the next Alex Proyas? (BP)
Did anyone watch that Robocop miniseries from around 2000? I'd be curious to revisit that. The only thing I even vaguely remember is that the guy who played the vampire on Forever Knight was one of the villains. I didn't think the remake was terrible, just unnecessary and bland.
