Lizzie

Chloë Sevigny is Lizzie Borden and is fucking Kristen Stewart

Tickets go on sale, when?

The True Crime nerd in me will love this movie.  Lizzie Borden has this reputation of being a notorious serial killer even though:

  • She only murdered two people:  her mother and father.
  • She killed them in one moment which makes her a spree killer, not a serial killer.

Now people will be disappointed when they scramble to find pictures of RBG as a young woman and see if she was as hot then as Felicity Jones is now.

Dolfan's edit caption is Number One and the Best.

Having seen her documentary earlier this summer... Yeah, young Ruth Bader was a looker.

How many other killers have playground rhymes based on the crimes? Jack the Ripper probably. Not sure how many more.

Since you did not specify whether the crime or the killer had to be real or not, my answer is Freddy Kreuger.

Tom Hardy as Al Capone

Just rewatched him play the Kray twins in Legend (only because it was on TV) and of course he's gonna do good with that, but I really wanna know who else is working on whatever it is because Legend had such a piss-boring story that it took a single, great actor playing twins and pretty much flushed that down the toilet.

EDIT: from the Hollywood Reporter

Quote

Writer-director Josh Trank has shared a closer look at Tom Hardy as gangster Al Capone.

Depending on how you count it, this is a second official look at Hardy in the upcoming biopic Fonzo, as last week, Fandango tweeted (and deleted) a different still of Hardy as Capone. Hardy has also shared unofficial Instagram shots of him in character from the film's New Orlean's set.

Fonzo centers on a particular period in Capone's life, when at the age of 47, dementia has rotted Capone’s mind following an imprisonment of nearly a decade. Past and present blend together as memories of his violent origins slip into his waking hours. Other stars in Fonzo include Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan and Kathrine Narducci

Capone died in 1947 at the age of 48.

Fonzo is Trank's first feature after 2015's ill-fated Fantastic Four, which bombed at the box office and tanked with critics. Its troubled production led to the filmmaker losing a Star Wars film. Trank previously directed the hit found-footage film Chronicle

Judging from that last line... well we might as well expect another Legend?

BTW if you wanna see a good Kray bros. film check out The Krays.

I think Brian Helgeland is living off his previous screenwriting work. I thought 42 was boring as shit too and just another white savior film when you had so much to go on that isn't defined by the color barrier. It's crazy that in an era (even around the film was released and pre anthem kneeling) that we have folks like Ray Lewis, Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, and Charles Barkley etc. who are seen as Uncle Toms in some form or fashion in the twilight of their careers or well after their careers. This is very much the story of Jackie Robinson as he was deeply in opposition to many of the civil rights leaders in the 60s. FWIW I was doing some research on Floyd Patterson  and looked at an old interview from like the 70s. Patterson said some wild shit even for then in regards to Ali's stance against the Vietnam War, but it's basically the equivalent of the stuff someone like a Dak Prescott or Zeke Elliott would say that (rightfully IMO) would get them a ton of flak. In addition, Robinson shamed Ali for not going to Vietnam and told him he was missing out on a "fantastic opportunity" How can we get onboard with Ali talking shit to Patterson as part of his legacy but then shit on a Colin Kaepernick now for a less radical stance IMO?  Black athletes were trying to be raceless and apolitical six or seven decades ago (see: Louis, Joe)

I get that it helped launched the career of Chadwick Boseman (ironic he also played Thurgood Marshall who also on some bullshit and was an agent for the FBI against black people but I digress), but at the same time, telling this type of story is problematic and toxic along with formulaic. I wasn't asking for a film tearing down Robinson as much as one to tell his story in context.

With that said, I was still super amped for Legend even though I was disappointed by 42. To me, it was just okay at best. It lets me know Helgeland is incapable of doing a biopic (IMO he sure as hell can't do one for an African-American). He sucks at doing them. Apparently, he wrote Ang Lee's new film (Gemini Man) with Will Smith that was getting buzz before they even start filming. I thought Ang Lee's last film stunk so I'm not exactly thrilled about that combo even if Helgeland isn't directing. I'm going to wait until I see a trailer first.

I never saw Enter the Void and haven't seen Irreversible since downloading it off of Kazaa almost a decade and a half ago, but Love was basically porn if you want acting worse than mid 90s Vivid Entertainment pornography.

So many inappropriate comments.

Don't make me punch you.  The Dora parodies with Ariel Winter on the College Humor channel on YouTube already infuriate me.
