PetrolCB
It's sadly ironic that all three of the main people from those skits are gone.
Ace
I was amused that even Prince dug that sketch. He used the shot of Chappelle with the pancakes for a cover on a single.

Not sure Charlie and Rick James are ending up in the same place.
cubbymark
Charlie Murphy was also hilarious doing voice acting on The Boondocks. RIP.

The Great ML
Several reports are that Erin Moran of Happy Days passed away at 56.
Johnny Sorrow
Rest In Peace, Shortcake. Wow, this hits harder than I would've thought. I'm 46. Happy Days was my favorite show of my entire childhood.
rainmakerrtv
Sadly, this didn't come as a complete surprise. I always heard about her in terms of her having completely dropped out of sight and the rest of the cast being concerned for her.
driver
They're saying it was "complications from Stage IV cancer".
Zimbra
Jonathan Demme, director of Stop Making Sense and Silence of the Lambs has reportedly died at 73 of complications from esophageal cancer. Damn, Stop Making Sense was the greatest concert movie ever.
Curt McGirt
Damn. Everybody else is gonna bring up Silence and Philadelphia but we cannot forget his truly greatest film achievements: and RIP

Curt McGirt
We should also remember that Neil Young, a notoriously private man, allowed Demme to make three separate documentaries about him. EDIT: Well, I guess if you're willing to have your life documented on film you aren't exactly J.D. Salinger, but read the biography Shakey sometime

piranesi
Weirdest name-check of Jonathan Demme: Jason Vorhees accepting his lifetime achievement award at the 1992 MTV Movie Awards. Referencing Demme's Oscar speech that year which was notoriously long (about 4 minutes).
RIPPA
This is probably more appropriate here than the TV thread but Charlotte Rae (aka Mrs. Garrett) has announced that she has been diagnosed with bone cancer. She is 91 and Rae said she is basically trying to decide if she wants to bother with treatment or not. (It is her 2nd bout with cancer as she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about seven years ago)
