FEBRUARY 2016 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

RIPPA

Bringing back a nostalgia act for a short, light schedule of multiman, safe matches akin to AJPW openers is a little different from letting Bryan back on the roster.  Should the rule be black and white?  Yeah, probably.  Though their logic is flawed, I can see the difference.

Just throwing this out there: What are the chances there's an unspoken agreement between Dreamer and the WWE that he has a job with the company for life whenever he wants it, as long as he never holds them liable for his brains turning to mush?

Weren't his brains already turning to mush before he joined the WWE?

I'm not a fan of Dreamer working in WWE, but I'm willing to bet that what he did in those 20 matches was far less ~EXTREME~ than 90% of his indy dates.

Also, what he did in his short run was 90% less extreme than whatever Bryan would have been doing if he'd come back.

Isn't it possible that the Bryan Ban was two-fold, preventing him from getting worse on their dime and protecting him from himself?  Dreamer wasn't getting hit in the head, doing diving headbutts off the top, or diving out of the ring.

The odd thing is that Tommy's already had that before. He came out of retirement for WWECW.

I'm going to drop some revisionist history on Dennis Rodman, who I think was really fucking fun in his actual matches in WCW, even that so-bad-it's-good match against Savage with the porta-potty and everything. I am grading on a curve, of course, but he would be on the high end of the "non-wrestler performers" curve. Not near Andy Kaufman or Money Mayweather, but somewhere after them.

I think if Greene had been allowed to continue to wrestle part time (he stopped when the NFL instituted its no wrestling rule) I am fairly certain he would have done it full time when he retired instead of coaching.

IIRC the first match he had was good but the second he was drunk or something. I think I remember he looked like he was falling asleep.

Rodman understood heel ga-ga decently enough. But- and this really isn't his fault, it just is what it is- celebs who come in to play heel always come off like they're just mugging for the camera, even if it's not their intent.

I completely grant this could be a how-I-see-it-and-can't-unsee-it thing.

WWE star Titus O'Neil was sent home from last night's Smackdown taping in Portland, Oregon shortly after he arrived. The word we are getting is that O'Neil has been suspended for "unprofessional conduct."

During the ending of last night's Raw taping in Seattle, Washington, a number of WWE personalities and staff were assembled on the stage in honor of the retiring Bryan Danielson. At the end of that segment, which aired on Raw before going live on the WWE Network, Danielson returned to the locker room after passing through the center of the assembled WWE personnel.

As WWE talents returned to the back, O'Neill grabbed WWE owner Vince McMahon in what was described to us as in a "playful, physical way." McMahon responded by shoving O'Neil away. McMahon's shove of O'Neill actually made it onto the final seconds of the broadcast. We are told that McMahon was angry at being grabbed and that led to the suspension.

When O'Neil arrived at Smackdown, he was informed he was going sent home. The word making the rounds is that the suspension could be for upwards of 90 days. That would put O'Neil out of action through May, which means he would be missing Wrestlemania 32.

O'Neil, 39, signed with WWE in 2009 and is best known as one half of the Prime Time Players, although he's been used most recently in a singles role. He's been very active in local community outreach where he lives in Tampa. O'Neil had lost to Adam Rose earlier during the Raw broadcast.

Last night, the WWE Network exclusive video of Bryan Danielson's farewell was removed from Youtube and WWE.com as well as the WWE Network. It is likely that WWE is going to edit the snippet at the end out before restoring the videos.

Vince looked really pissed after Titus jacked him by his arm on Monday...
