NXT 2015 THREAD

RIPPA

Brennan will be back. They might rotate that Craig guy in there, too. I think I need a few more cards under my belt before I send a tape in. :)

My favorite part about the contract signing was Owens knowing exactly how Zayn would react to things and getting his way while looking like he did absolutely nothing. Like he pulled the Jedi Mind Trick on Zayn and Regal. THAT is a heel.

Think they also have Bayley vs. Becky in the can for next week, so there's 5 for that leaving 20 for Bálor-Itami.

If nothing else, wrestling is teaching me how to do the accented letter alt-codes on the computer...first Bálor, then Alberto El Patrón.

Great episode this week. Loved the out of nowhere tag title change. Blake and Murphy definitely need a tag name and some sort of gimmick. Why not push them as "tag team specialists"? Alot of what they did in the match leaned towards that anyway, especially the finish.

Edit: tag team name suggestion: Kangaroo Justice, just have Blake be an old timey sheriff

I'll honestly be shocked if Corbin/Neville goes 10, nor should it right now.  A smart 5 minute cat & mouse type match does them more favors than drawing it out for the sake of doing so.

Come on, we all know how this will play out. I haven't even read the spoilers, but there's no way this will not end with Neville winning by Bull Dempsey getting Corbin counted out.

I expect Balor/Itami to be somewhat restrained, kind of like the first Zayn/Neville match. I imagine there will be a bigger match between them down the road. I'd be surprised if this match goes more than the standard NXT weekly main (12-15 minutes).

The reaction from people at the show was that it was incredible.

The Sami Zayn-Kevin Owens feud is so good and so smart you guys.  Everything about it makes so much sense and fits into such a "wrestling as sport" system of management.  Everything about it builds logically on the characters from a clear and rational perspective.

Kevin makes it clear that he is not going to be waiting in line since so much of his time was wasted not being on the roster while everyone else he knew was getting the call to NXT.  So when he gets on the show, the first thing he does is attack Sami and jump the line to the NXT Champion.  The thing is, in the NXT universe, you don't get title shots handed to you.  Tournaments to determine the number one contender to titles is the norm at this juncture and Owens has no case to make that he's even a contender with a record of 1-0-1 on the show.   There's a tournament going on right now in fact with 6 guys in it with a better case than Owens to get shots at the belt.  So to make the grudge match at Takeover a non title match makes perfect sense from Regal's perspective since Sami demanded it and sure why not.   Some of the stuff going on outside of the angle is mildly hurting it as The Wesling Buddies jumped to a title shot based off one win and Curtis Axel didn't belong in the title tournament based off his stay in NXT but whatever.

Anwyays, Owens has to make this a title match because, again, he's jumping the line and that is what is makes him the heel here.  Despite having a perfectly reasonable motivation, he is going about things the quick and easy way.  The fact that he is doing this on Sami who had to climb the ladder (and get knocked down it) multiple times until all his hard work finally paid off makes it all the more telling.  The most interesting thing from the contract signing for me was when Sami said he "knew" Owens.  It is instead coming off as Kevin knowing that Sami won't back down to a certifiable fault (which we saw during the brief Corey Graves feud).  Its god damned beautiful.

Does anyone who pays attention to Rovert know if Solomon Crowe is supposed to debut at Takeover? I know this is usually the timing, but I want to make sure before I get my hopes up.

Also, is a Regal/Crowe match too much to ask? His hacker gimmick fucking with Regal's job seems tailor made to lead to that.

They just started doing the Crowe "hacking into the video feed" vingette during this week's show so I imagine he's debuting soon.

Went to the NXT house show in Orlando tonight. Fun show that was just matches with no storyline significance except for the main event. Zayn vs Neville happened and was going good when Kevin Owens showed up and attacked Zayn. I guess they've been doing the same finish around the horn at house shows. I really enjoyed Bayley/Becky(Becky won with her fuller lock type finish) and the opener with Hideo vs Breeze. I could watch those guys wrestle all day. I was also impressed with the Shoot Nation guys (Angelo Dawkins, Sawyer Fulton, Jason Jordan). Dawkins and Fulton faced the Mechanics in a decent match and Jordan lost to Solomon in a good match where he kept getting Kurt Angle chants.  Oh and the new announcer guys is about 100 times better than Rich Brennan. I think he used to work in radio.

Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champion Possibly Debuting a Gay Hairstylist Gimmick

According to Reddit user MetsFan4Ever, a verified WWE insider, the reason why the Lucha Dragons dropped the NXT Tag Team Titles is because WWE wants to try pushing Kalisto as a singles wrestler.

With Rey Mysterio on his way out of WWE, the company is trying very hard to find the next Latin star, and Kalisto is reportedly being tested out for the role.

While Mysterio wrestled with a mask, WWE reportedly decided not to go that route with Kalisto, and instead have tried him out with a gay hairstylist gimmick. Kalisto reportedly did very well in the role, and it’s possible we could see him continue the gimmick on TV as opposed to his current Kalisto character.
