I know the politics of the AAA/CMLL relationship probably don't allow for either to be a "formal" co-promoter of the show like AEW and NJPW, but I'll just say it's been really exciting for a guy like me who doesn't follow lucha super-closely to have those guys around for this one - big childhood "Nitro hour 1" vibes. Not that I don't dig the annual NJPW crossover as-is, no complaint intended - it's just that the house style kinda leans that way anyway, and a lot of those guys pop up from time to time when it's not FD season (shout out to getting a random Suzuki match last year in the notable puro hotbed of ... Checks notes...Hartford, CT) 6
Technico Support Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I love when Hechicero shows up because his taunt reminds me of the magician boss from Sonic Mania https://64.media.tumblr.com/44f694045cb10dcdca8af2a0f648111e/tumblr_inline_ouxtznxH281riafjl_400.gif 1 2

ExcellenceofAirPollution Posted June 3 Posted June 3 https://www.f4wonline.com/news/aew/tony-khan-on-ricky-starks-id-love-to-get-him-involved-and-back-in-aew/ Pretty bizarre response from Tony. When you combine Tony's "I'd love to have him back and a part of AEW" with what Meltzer says it sounds like he's off TV because he didn't like the creative he'd been presented with 1
Johnny Sorrow Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Have they announced the lineup for Dynamite this week? I'm going to be there in Loveland. 1
DragonZombie Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Paige VanZant seems to be gone. Info from PWInsider and other generic new sites.

I like the sound of that! 4
Death From Above Posted June 4 Posted June 4 If they tease me motherfucking Rush vs MJF and don't deliver I will personally invade AEW. 1 2

It was a draw. 2. She was fighting in what basically amounted to a high level exhibition bout. 3. Paige isn't really a boxer and Elle Brooke despite being known more for adult entertainment is more capable and proficient at boxing than the average person who just started. So it was basically a non boxer vs. someone who is slightly above average. But yeah, I think PVZ is mostly devoted to her Onlyfans and getting her last few paydays in combat sports. I mean in actuality, the Brooke fight was essentially amateur adult entertainer vs. professional adult entertainer and targeted to a certain male demo. That is where she is right now. I don't think that is the business AEW wants to be in, which is probably why a release soon followed. 2 1
odessasteps Posted June 4 Posted June 4 (edited) You’d think PVZ would want to build to a match with Mandy Rose. Maybe for that Brazzers title. Or the winner could take on Ariel X or someone else from Ultimate Surrender. Edited June 4 by odessasteps 2

Or the winner could take on Ariel X or someone else from Ultimate Surrender. Hey, there is PVZ and Mandy Rose collaboration content out there...just saying. So we're halfway there. That said, with the sheer amount of influencer crossover in MMA and boxing and everything in between, that shit most people would have found ludicrous is happening every other week on these Misfit boxing and MMA cards and various other platforms. It's like someone on hallucinogens saw Brawl for All back in 1998 and several years later was like, "Can we do this with pornstars and random Youtube folks and Z list celebs?" Apparently, the answer was yes. I dunno how ANY of this is making money. I mean the PVZ vs. Elle Brooke was the headliner for a show in an actual arena. Both of them probably got a healthy six figures apiece in front of like a thousand people maybe. These gotta be sold shows like WWF use to do in the mid to late 90s. Otherwise, they're burning through money week after week. That's not to say they don't do a decent job capitalizing on people's respective fanbases (each tale of the tape lists people's IG subscriber number lol) especially early on when they first started doing these. However, using PVZ vs. Brooke as an example, people wanna see these two do a whole bunch of stuff together. Fighting each other is probably 95th on the list. 2
odessasteps Posted June 4 Posted June 4 When did Fox do celebrity boxing? (Looks up) 2002. only 2 episodes? That’s surprising 1

That's not to say today's batch isn't, but the audience for that then is much different than now. 2. More importantly, none of those people could convert what little fanbase they truly had into viewers probably. The whole emphasis of those type of fights now is you're directly bringing the fanbase you have now to watch these abominations to combat sports. Suffice to say it wouldn't work now. If you're some person who was a guest or contestant on American Idol or Dancing with the Stars or the Masked Singer, you're not bringing those millions to another platform. Those folks aren't watching those shows because of YOU. People in the entertainment industry have a much better understanding of that now cause of past failures like whatever celebrity boxing thing they tried to put together back then.

Gorman Posted June 4 Posted June 4 It seems like this "TV Time" angle is the perfect way for Ricky Starks to return and fight Big Bill and then Chris Jericho. 2
Go2Sleep Posted June 4 Posted June 4 If they were looking for a way to bring Ricky back, having Bill trying to convert him to LearningTree-ism, would be a good angle. Give Ricky one more go as a fiery babyface under Joe's school of hard knocks. Unfortunately, it's more likely to involve Sammy Guevara.
