AEW TV - 5/15 - 5/21/2024 - Fear of a Malakai Black Planet

Recommended Posts

You guys... I think Edge is upset

Will Malakai Black accept??

How about those kooky evil executives the Young Bucks?  How will Danielson, FTR, and Eddie overcome them?  When they're Public Enemy #1, how will they...

Let's see!

Is this as close as they will get to Danielson being at home? I know Everett is where Buddy used to live, so presumably it’s a homecoming for Nick and his mom.

Tacoma was as close as they’ll get probably.

Did you see Collision....

Spoiler

Top Flight v Danielson/Claudio was tremendous. The Martins upped their game for these total Pros. Danielson promo hit the spot. Anarchy! Dug the Claudio peace out. Moriarty v Ospreay was good. Lee is very good in the jobber role, but I’m really hoping he can find his next gear and an upward trajectory at some point. He needs to rev up the intensity a little. I love Roddy, but he was chewing up the scenery on commentary. Not his strong suit. I love Taylor attacking Will to set-up a match. Mercedes at Fenway. Throws the pitch, does the dance. I skipped Gates/Cage squash, but caught the solid Swerve attack. Swerve promo was okay. Garcia v KM, was fine. Dax v Billington was totally on point. Harwood consistently proves himself to be one of the best wrestlers going today, daddy! Nice showing from young Tommy. Solid Elite Video/Jack Promo/Daniels Promo. Daniels had it going on, but then got a bit corny. Still, I’m game for what I expect to be a very fun Bucks v Sydal/Daniels bout. Dax promo was on point, and love Harwood v Okada! Rosa squash was okay. Thunder’s definitely found a better groove as of late. Hook promo was fine. I sense his being pushed as cool may bring on some of that Cody-Sammy-verse babyface heel heat very soon. Insert large Hook logo. Copeland v O’Reilly was wonderful. Not unlike Sting, late career Copeland is my favorite run of his career. O’Reilly was fantastic. The post match angle was House style silliness, but I loved everything about Kyle getting his flowers in Vancouver. Well done. Beretta v Castle was slightly disappointing. Big fan of both. Castle has great fire (Steinerized) down the finish of his matches, but struggles to find or do much of anything compelling in the first portion. I'm enjoying watching Beretta slowly grow as a heel. Deonna promos are always really good. And this was no exception. Getting tired of rinse, repeat Rush videos. Here’s hoping he’ll wrestle again soon. Bryan Keith v JD Drake was fine. Nice to see Keith get a TV win. I bet they've had a fair better version of this match with time somewhere on the indies. Purrazzo v Frost was a nice showcase. Loved the Steve Maclin spear to finish. I’m a fan of Frosty. She consistently looks good. Ugh, an Acclaimed Video. Not in my wheelhouse. A pretty weak Scorpio Sky promo for yet another injury return. Perhaps he’s playing a motivational speaker this time around. Pac v Johnny TV was okay. TV could really benefit from retooling his game - go more on the ground. His highflying stuff feels so stale/weak. Nice to see Pac get a solid non-squash TV win. This felt like a traditional TBS Saturday Night wrestling show in the best sense. AE-Dubbya!

Best one so far.

Definitely not what was expected given the number of black metal references available

As long as we don't go full Billy Corgan with "Bullet Club Gold with Butterfly Wings."

Didn't Mad Man Pondo use that as his entrance music in IWAMS or was that someone else?

What I remember from this week's edition of AEW Dynamite:

Eddie Kingston is out of the Anarchy match

Opening match was fun, looked like Mox got spiked on his head

Christopher Daniels looking like Paul Ellering. Jack Perry dumped stuff on Schiavone

Swerve's 450 might be a more convincing finish than his stomp

Hey, Swerve gets beat down again

Don't remember much about the Toni match

So, Mone goes through the table in a feud where she's either the heel or should be the heel

Main event looked good, even if you gotta suspend disbelief to believe Dax is winning a singles match

Darby Allin is back

Sucks Eddie Kingston is out of Anarchy in the Arena, had a bad feeling he was after his match with Gabe Kidd at NJPW STRONG. Like Darby Allin as the replacement. Thought it would be Jon Moxley or Claudio Castagnoli. Dread what Allin will do in that kind of match even more than his usual.

So, uh, how long did getting hit by a bus take Darby Allin out of action? A week or two?

It's Darby Allin. He gets hit by a bus and walks it off, especially in the name of protecting Raymond Pettibon.

This was by far the best thing they've done with Mercedes since 'Big Business'.   It's cool to do the "happy to be here" promo one time especially in your hometown but then it veered off into some weird shit like they did with Punk where you're not buying any of it..

Tonight,  she was pretty clearly the heel trying to little bro Willow and it was good stuff.  It got Willow over even more building some sympathy for her.  It's the best use of Mercedes. She's a heel and in the match she's going to viciously work over one of Willow's extremities.  Let's go!

How the fuck is Darby back from getting hit by a bus?  Lol.   I'm happy he's back though.

Wasn't the bus turning a corner at like 5mph? I've been hit by (and had my foot run over by) cars going that speed more than once, and it sucks but wasn't serious. I think the broken nose was the worst part of it for Darby.

I was once tapped by a Lamborghini in Toronto while walking to get groceries. To this day, I still regret not taking the bump on the hood for the potential payout.

Show was really good tonight. PPV bought.

I was there live crowd was hot as fuck. Swerve was super over. Darby was over too. They got two stars on their hands with those two. You’re top babyface’s right there.

Okada was really over too. I know he’s heel but it’s hard not to cheer for him. He’s a legend his two year run as IWGP Champion was incredible and to see him live in AEW was really cool.

Also I don’t know how it came off on TV but wilt he place was loud as fuck when Willow put Mercedes through the table.

just remembered the Jericho/Hook stuff, self-aware Jericho and Hook being a total idiot

so Everett is in the club of cities that would have their own media market if they weren't located so close to a much larger city?
